Loren POV
I had finished applying the cream to Alex’s burned face. The wound had begun to heal slowly which, according to Alex, who seemed to be an expert on the subject of alchemy as well, meant that Riley had not transfigured his hand into pure silver, but rather a silver alloy. Pure silver would have taken twenty- four hours to heal at the very least, a few weeks at most.
“I know that Riley is your best friend and all, but he’s a nasty piece of work from what I’ve experienced so far,” Alex said.
There was a bitterness in his voice that still showed he was upset about the fight. An email had come in a few minutes ago stating that Alex was suspended from campus grounds, excluding his dorm building, for the next seven days. Basically he was on house arrest.
“He hasn’t been himself lately,” I said, knowing that it sounded like I was making excuses for Riley. “I don’t know what caused him to become so antagonistic.”
