I found it. I finally found an inkling of mention of the thing I had been searching for.
The Silverstone dean and board members did a great job of removing problematic texts or books that mention things that were taboo, but every now and again they would miss something.
This was one of those times and I was elated.
The leatherbound book in my hand hummed with magical energy. Just like most things that belonged to the school, the book was enchanted to keep track of who had read it, kind of like the internet browser history.
“Damnatio Memoriae,” I whispered, and my name was temporarily erased from existence. Now the book would have no name to record.
The book stopped humming as it did not recognise anyone holding it. I clicked my fingers and a small ball of light hovered just above the pages so that I could read the words in the dark with more ease:
