Loren POV
“Did you feel that?” I asked Jamaia as I looked through the window of the cabin.
“That was transmutation magic,” Jamaia confirmed,” There’s an Alchemist close by. We should move, it could be Amedis’s people, and we don’t want them to find us.”
I nodded in agreement, and we began packing what we needed, along with scrolls and items we had taken from the basement. There was a collection of potions that neither Jam nor I could recognize but we decided to take them anyway in case they turned out to be useful.
As we were packing, there was a loud knock on the door. We froze. I conjured a ball of fire in my hand, and Jam readied a lightning bolt.
“Loren, Jam! It’s me. Open up quickly if you’re in there!” came Riley’s muffled and panicked voice.
Jam rushed to the door and opened it, pulling her boyfriend into a bear hug and nearly falling to the floor.
I rushed in as well and wrapped them both in my arms.
