“The Children of Roses integrated into human and magical societies. Our numbers were bolstered, but our powers began to weaken gradually as the light of the Purple Sun faded, and our blood became diluted.
I feared that we would not be able to rid the world of the Immortal tyrants, and once we dwindled in the centuries to come that they would once again rule over this world and enslave us.
So I became what is known as a vampire. My people saw it as a heresy that I would seek a way to extend my life, but I did it to ensure that my people would never suffer again. I tried to tell them that vampirism was the same as the Immortals, that I had weaknesses and could die.
But they turned their back on me.
