Hunter began his walk back to his dorm room, on the way he passed some students who gave him some slight smiles as he passed.
'That's weird, usually, no one would even glance in my direction' Hunter thought to himself.
While walking down the dimly lit hallway, Hunter decided to distribute his quest rewards among his stats. Instead of evenly distributing them as he had before, Hunter decided that he wanted to put more into strength and agility this time around.
'Speed for getting away with my cloak and strength for better control of my style, it's perfect' Hunter inwardly chuckled at his plan.
'Check Stats' Hunter thought to himself as a now-familiar screen appeared in the side of his vision.
[H/P 20/20]
[Strength 18]
[Agility 18]
[Stamina 14]
Feeling suddenly invigorated, Hunter smiled to himself as he continued his stroll to his room.
Although Hunter was receiving a power-up, he knew that he was only touching the surface of his potential. He also knew that there were monsters out there, disguised as regular people, to which he needed to be extremely cautious.
'Better not piss off the wrong people' Hunter thought.
Finally making his way to his dorm, Hunter scanned his wristwatch and swung open the door. Sitting in his usual spot on the couch, Ethan sat while talking on his phone.
After giving a slight nod to acknowledge Hunter, Ethan continued his call.
"Listen, I've given you all the information I have, is there anything you can do about it?" Ethan pleaded with the person on the other side of the phone call.
After waiting for a few seconds for the response, Ethan visually started fuming with anger, the air around him started to crackle.
*Bam*
Ethan slammed his phone down on the table after ending the call. He turned to Hunter, an apologetic look in his eyes.
"I tried using some of my connections to figure out the assassination that happened yesterday but because there was not much to go off of, no one wanted to jump into it," Ethan paused for a second, thinking if he should share a piece of information that he found out while investigating.
"There was one thing that I did find out though," Ethan said, shifting his position on the couch, "the suspected name of the assassin organization is the blue spades"
Thinking back to his encounter with the assassins, he remembered the golden embroidery on the robes of the men that at the time he couldn't put his finger on the name. But now, he realized that the embroidery was in fact spades, neatly stitched on the breast pocket.
"I remember spades being on the breast pocket of the men! That must be them!" Hunter exclaimed.
"Bingo! We got them!" Ethan said excitedly, however his face soon turned into a frown. "Even if we know who they are, we can't do anything, we're just students after all."
Realizing that Ethan was right, Hunter slumped down into the couch, both boys sitting in silence for a moment.
"What if we get evidence?" Hunter suddenly broke the silence. "What if we get evidence and sent it to the authorities?"
"That could work, but how would we get evidence?" Ethan came to the conclusion that the two alone couldn't get evidence without risking getting killed. "I might be fast with my lightning ability but in the face of trained and experienced killers with unknown abilities, I don't stand a chance."
After thinking for a bit, Hunter came up with an unexpected idea. Looking at Ethan, Hunter suddenly got serious.
"What if I told you that my ability isn't just the sythe I summoned while fighting Bryce?" Hunter said cautiously to Ethan.
"What do you mean?" Ethan suddenly got curious about what Hunter was going on about.
A wide grin appeared on Hunter's face, Ethan instinctively leaned away from him as the two were sitting next to each other on the couch.
'Activate Cloak of Darkness'
*Ding*
[Cloak Activated For 30 Seconds]
Hunter's wide grin disappeared from beside Ethan, in fact, his entire body did.
"Hunter! Where'd you go?" Ethan was startled at the sudden disappearance of his friend.
'Deactivate Cloak of Darkness'
Appearing on the other side of the room, Hunter suddenly materialized into the room once again.
"You...You can turn invisible?" Ethan's said while his jaw was wide open.
"Yep, actually, I wouldn't call it an ability" Hunter said as he was about to explain everything that happened to him. "It's actually a syst-argh"
Hunter's words were cut short, his vision suddenly became blurry and his head started to pulse in immense pain.
[Warning: User Cannot Reveal System]
'What! I was never told this, why wasn't I told!' Hunter thought while keeling over in pain.
[You never Asked]
'Did...did you just respond to me?'
[Yes]
