Derick's POV
Something about how the match started through me. Neither the Banshee nor the Bulldog ever used weapons so why were weapons placed at the edge of the ring? The sudden change to the match rules did not sit right with the others either. We had discussed the issue but no one had a clue. Weapons were permitted in fights as others often opted to use them, but it was more common to see weapons used in death matches not money matches.
I looked back into the office to where they boys sat watching the fight on the T.V. At least they were stoked to see the Banshee in the flesh and now watched her match in the comfort of the office. I had been afraid that the powerful aura of both fighters might affect them negatively and so had them shelter behind the office wall. Jeff and Chad who didn't take my advice had gone pail and I needed to drag them back into the office.
Strangely though, Dean had flinched at the Bulldog's aura but didn't seem too fazed by the Banshee's and had helped me with the others, but I hand to rescue Mathew from the balcony as he had nearly collapsed with the Banshee's impressive power. I had never seen him, a Beta, react so badly to the strength of an aura before and it took quite a while to calm his nerves.
After the first round was over, Shawn and myself the last two outside, headed inside to watch on the monitor. It was a spectacular fight so far and the crowd fainting record had been broken.
"Twentynine fainted so far, look!" Shawn pointed to the faint tally they were keeping at the side of the screen. Chad giggled.
"They'll be more before the round is over… Look it's gone up again." Jeff grinned.
"Mathew, you should be on there too with the way you flipped out." Mathew snorted and crossed his arms but Jeff just giggled. "Best match of the night… but something is odd. That weapon thing still through me and this wild card hanging over them is killing me." I nodded.
"The Bulldog has taken on a few wild cards before but not the Banshee. It's like someone is trying to change her fighting pattern…" I rubbed my neck and watched as the boys ate their popcorn their eyes glued to the screen. A collective breath left the croud as the Bulldog transformed into his wolf. He was big and black with patches of fur missing where his many scars stopped the hair from growing. In this form he was frightening. I frowned and looked to his shorts. "Where does he get the shorts from?" Chad burst out laughing.
"They're awesome but I think it would alarm a lot of people seeing wolves running around with shorts." Jeff nodded.
"Not as much as a naked man in the middle of the forest." He frowned. "Hikers always manage to come out of the woods when you're putting your clothes back on. Having a pair of shorts that can stay on no matter which shape you're in could be useful." Shawn smirked and gasped.
"Shit… I never expected her to ride him like that." Jeff grinned.
"She can ride me like that if she wanted to." Dean frowned and cleared his throat.
"There's kids present." Jeff shrugged.
"They're not listening. Boys you listening?" he got no responses and grinned. "See…" Aden sighed.
"Is this what you call thinking with your dick?" I rubbed my face and frowned as I shot my kid a look of annoyance.
"Will you stop…" My eyes went to the screen as the Bulldog transformed into his Lycan form and tossed the Banshee across the ring. I felt my stomach drop and saw the look on the boys faces. "You two alright?" I patted the seat next to me. "Come sit up here." They retreated from the screen and climbed up next to me and huddled in.
"It's ok dad," Kaden seemed to try and convince me it was going to be alright as he patted my hand and snuggled in under my arm. "The Banshee always wins." I smirked and nodded then turned my attention to the match suddenly wondering if I should have allowed the twins to watch this match.
Rodgers POV
I had been going through every last source I had to try and find out about this dam wild card. Not even the announcers knew what it was but there was an envelope in the office for them to open when instructed.
'Fuck I need to get a glimpse. Fore warned is fore armed.' I bit my nail and looked to Bella I mind linked her. 'Any luck?' She glanced over.
'No, only Vox and a few of his closest know what's going on. One of my sources said Vox wants to get rid of both the Bulldog and the Banshee and this wild card might be a way to do so.' I nodded and my mind raced. A man came to my side and handed me a book.
"This is the wild card rule book you asked for." I thanked the man and took the book. I began to speed read as fast as I could, skimming to the section on what a wild card could be. I frowned, there was so many from the bazar to the deadly.
I looked to the time left for this round and winced. There was still ten minutes and the Bulldog was already in Lycan form. This is not good, seems Curt wanted this over before the wildcard was played too. I sat and read my heart out. Then Rollo brought up the restaurant.
'Three way…' He whispered.
"Fuck..." I muttered and mind linked Bella
'Does Vox have any fighters still here?'
'What?'
'Vox wanted a three way. If he has a fighter here still, we could possibly figure out what the wild card will be.' There came a growl in my head.
'His section is locked up tight. I'll see if I can get any info.' I sat and went to the wild card section involving adding another fighter to the ring.
Danica's POV
The Bulldog charged in Lycan form and caught me hard on the chest. He was unbelievably fast. I recovered from the blow then hit up knocking his hand away and targeting onto his broken rib. He may be a Lycan but he can't heal a broken bone that fast. We began to exchange blows and I upped my game a little more feeling the support on my top beginning to split open. I kicked out hard and created some distance as I quickly opened the size adjusting straps on my top to allow me to shift properly.
I breathed in deeply and flew at the Bulldog. My sudden increase in strength caused him to stagger back and a scar on his chest popped open. Blood began to cover my hands as my knuckles became bloodied and the Bulldog began to show signs of weakening as another rib snapped at my punches.
Suddenly we were sent through the air again and I landed in my seat. My breathing was hard, and my body was feeling used and abused. Bella handed me the water and a packet of glucose tablets.
"Where's Rodger?" She looked over.
"Trying to figure out the wildcard… He thinks it's going to be a bad one involving adding another fighter." I nodded and stuffed the glucose tablets into my mouth.
"I'll deal with it if it comes." I looked over to the ring side and caught sight of Hel. I whispered to Bella. "That Vampire Hel is here. She also tried to attack me before the match and is a friend of the Siren." Bella nodded and grabbed her card.
"I'll investigate her too." She began to strut around the ring and I gulped down some water and wiped the sweat from my face with a little towel. I looked to the Bulldog. He was still in Lycan form and seemed to be having difficulty breathing. I rested and looked to the little timer that was slowly running out.
The third round had begun, and I stood watching the Bulldog he grinned or sneered, it was hard to tell in this form. I began the assault and he blocked. The two of us went blow for blow and I felt him get a good hit to my face splitting my lip and causing me to stagger back. But he did not follow through on the attack. I looked and could see him breathing heavily one clawed hand to his right ribs. I listened and noticed his breathing didn't sound right. I went in for the final volley of attacks. Stubbornly refused to go down. After nearly twenty minutes he was on his knees and my victory was assured. He nodded.
"Good fight." He shifted back to his human form and reached out to take his mask someone tossed him. He slipped it on and was about to wave his hand in defeat when the lights began to flash, and the wildcard was played. We both frowned and looked to each other.
"Fuck…" He nodded and slumped to the ground to catch his breath. An announcement came over the system but the speaker seemed unsure.
"Am… ladies and gentlemen… the wildcard has been played and … umm."
"Oh out the way." Someone else replaced the normal commentator on the system, sounding optimistic. "Ladies and gentlemen, the wildcard has been played! Tonight, the Banshee and the Bulldog will be joined by the Gatekeeper! And the remainder of the match will be a deathmatch! Who will win? We shall see!" There was a ripple of shocked voices and I felt my blood run cold as the music for the Gatekeeper played and a monster of a man came to the ring.
Rodger flipped and pointed a finger accusingly at Vox, his hatred for the man clearly shown on his face.
"Neither of these fighters are deathmatch competitors. You know you can't just turn a match into a deathmatch and throw in a player the last second!" Vox smirked as he looked to his nails as the Gatekeeper entered the ring.
"I can. It's in the rule book you've been pawing over the last half hour or so." He smirked. "You can't do anything about it."
I listened to the two fighting and looked to the ref as he seemed to panic on the walkie talkie. I looked to the Bulldog. He was in no condition to fight and I was almost spent.
"Start the round ref!" Vox demanded from the side and Rodger looked helpless. The stadiums system began to bellow another announcement.
"Ladies and gentleman, three have entered but only one will leave alive." I looked around as a strange glowing pattern appeared on the ring and the ref was flung back out through the gate and landed on a table with a clatter. The Bulldog grunted as he got to his feet.
"This isn't good…" He looked to me. "That's an entrapment spell. If the demands are not met we'll be stuck in here until they are." I looked around.
"So, two of us have to die for the last one to get out?" His face went grim as he nodded slowly.
