Derick's POV
It was Friday morning. The pack house was strangely buzzing as I heated the sweet potato pie up in the oven. I looked to the breakfast table as the boys wiggled and squirmed in their seats as Jenny tried to dress them.
"If you don't get dressed then I'm taking someone else to the fight tonight." The two little heads shot around to look at me.
"But Danica got us the tickets…" I glared at them her name still sent slithers of pain through me.
"Then you better behave." I pulled open the oven and brought the pie over. Jenny smirked as I placed it onto a wooden chopping board.
"Pie for breakfast?" I nodded.
"It's healthy. It's a.... vegetable pie." She watched as I cut into it and nodded.
"What kind of vegetable?" I licked my lips.
"Sweet potato…" She sighed and got plates ready. I watched as the boys looked to the pie then to me their faces holding the look of suspicion as they heard vegetables. "Just try it. Danica likes it." Aden took his fork immediately and stabbed the slice on his plate then watched the steam rising from it. I drizzled some cream over the top of my slice then took a bite and grinned. It was just as good as last night. Aden stuffed the pie into his mouth and I watched the grin take over his face.
"It's good." The two boys began to shovel the pie into their mouths. I looked to Jenny as she fed Maggy.
"Do you want a slice?" She licked her lips then nodded.
"I'll wait till it cools." I nodded and prepaired Lilly a slice of toast with chocolate spread.
It was still early, nine o'clock early, but we got the car ready with our overnight bags. Since the school was still fixing the broken water pipe there was no school today and we were heading out earlier than I had planned. I knew from experience that sometimes these matches would last late into the early morning and I didn't feel like anyone would be up for the drive back that day so I had booked us into our hotel in the city as it would be better for everybody.
I looked up as the sound of laughter filled the air and the boys came running out the house with Jeff and Shawn. They went to another car and I nodded.
"Jeff, good to see you up and about. Are you sure you should be going to the match?" He nodded.
"I'm not missing this!" He winced slightly. "This is the biggest fight of the year and probably one of the toughest opponents the Banshee has ever faced. Anyway, I'm almost all healed up." He grunted again and got into the car as Shawn pointed for him to do so.
The boys began to run around me and I pulled open the back door then watched them struggle up and in at the same time. Chad came into the garage with a smile and waved a hand.
"Come on Dean get a shift on. Even Jeff is here before you!" I watched as Dean came through the door. His smile faded slightly as he gave me a strange look then he went to the car Shawn was driving. Chad frowned as he followed Dean to the car then took the front passenger seat.
"Have you two been to the bathroom?" I looked into the car at the boys and they nodded.
"Yes! We're ready to go." Aden looked around.
"Where's Uncle Mathew?" I frowned and mind linked Mathew.
"He's coming." I looked up as Mathew bolted through the door and into the garage.
"Present and accounted for!" He smirked. "Let's hit the city and get snacks for the show!" the boys giggled and jumped around in their seats.
Danica's POV
I woke in a very comfortable bed. As the fog of sleep began to leave, I got some clarity and felt that something was not right. With an air of foreboding, I raised the covers and looked under. Oscar lay to one side of me his head on my side and Rodger to the other his face nestled into my chest.
'WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED LAST NIGHT?' This was too strange. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and remembered shopping after leaving the gym then going to Rodgers and soaking in the hot tub but nothing after that, nothing. Slowly I stretched feeling the two move around me. I looked at my phone on the bedside table and frowned. I had a message from Jenny. With a stretch I grabbed my phone and looked at the message. The boys would arrive at twelve and meet me for lunch. I looked to my watch. It was ten fifteen.
Slowly I tried to sit up and wiped my hair from my face. I didn't have any nerves or prefight jitters yet. Oscar moved next to me and placed his hand to my thigh.
"You should sleep a little longer." I stretched and shook my head.
"No…" I began but Rodger tightened his grip around me.
"He's right. Sleep longer." I fell back onto the bed.
"How did I get in here… with the two of you?" Rodger chuckled slightly.
"You fell asleep in the hot tub. We had to drag you out and wash you off." I felt a little weird.
"Pardon?" Oscar shrugged.
"You were covered in chlorine. And were already sound asleep." I looked down and realized I was naked.
"And you didn't put any clothes on me, why?" Roger rubbed his face in my clevage.
"It was too difficult and you had a grip on me I couldn't break." I nodded.
"That explains why you're in the bed with me… but…" I looked to Oscar as he smirked.
"What? It's cold out there." He snuggled down placing his head to the arch of my back. I stared at the roof feeling slightly weird at the situation I had woken in. My heart was slightly elevated and a few of those negative feelings were beginning to creep into my head. I closed my eyes and breathed slowly.
A sudden pinch on my thigh brought me out of my thoughts. Oscar glared at me with his golden eyes shining in the darkness of the sheets.
"Stop that right now. I'll kick your backside if you get worked up like that before your match." I sat up.
"I need to get ready. I have to meet the others for lunch and get the tickets to them." Rodger sighed.
"No need for tickets." He grinned. "They have VIP passes and I'm personally escorting them to my office." He lay back on the bed pulling his leg up to hide his situation. "Now how about a quick breakfast." He pulled his phone around and skimmed through the food app on his device.
