Danica's POV
Someone was watching us. I'm not sure if they are friend or foe but it was an unnerving gaze. A faint scent drifted to my nose and I growled.
"A vampire is near." Oscar nodded.
"We're close to a Vampire town." Derick frowned.
"What does that mean?" Oscar pointed.
"The city is divided into districts. Although you can find a mix of everything all over the place, most will have little territories. There's a new Vampire town a few blocks away… and they're not friendly. Killing anyone who isn't a vamp... We've had to deal with a few of them already and the city enforcers have stomped them a few times too." I nodded and let my nose tell me where the vampire was.
"It's still early to find vampire out." Oscar nodded.
"Just an early bird..." I frowned.
"She doesn't seem to me moving." Derick's phone rang and he looked to the name.
"I'll need to take this…" I nodded and remained alert. "Hi Lisa, twice in one day. What have I done right?"
"Are you in the city?" He frowned.
"Yes… it was a last-minute thing…" I could hear her clearly on the other end of the line.
"You've been there since lunch time. One of my Uni friends said she saw you at the Seventh gate Mall getting lunch at the pizza shop." I could see the look on his face. "And now you visit a back-alley dump, Mamma's…" I turned my attention from the conversation as I could hear Lisa nearby. I waved to Oscar to look down one alley way and I would take the other. As soon as I stepped into the alley the smell of the Vampire became stronger, but the sounds of the conversation faded. I took a few more steps into the alley then stopped,
"Why are you watching us?" I asked and looked in the general direction of the presence. I felt someone shift uncomfortably under my gaze and I zoned in on them. "Come out or I'll drag you out." I let a growl creep into my voice as I pointed directly at the woman, With a start she came out of the shadows holding her hands up. The vampire seemed familiar and her scent triggered memories of a fight.
'Helvetica…' I took a good look at her and watched as she began to grow uncertain.
"Why are you watching us?" She crossed her arms.
"Who said I was watching you. I just happen to be here."
A Sudden scream filled the air, short and sharp. I turned and Helvetica vanished. With a cures I ran back to see Derick going down the street Oscar had vanished into. I followed him until we came to a car with dark tinted windows.
What I saw next made me stop in annoyance. Oscar had pulled open the front passenger door of the car and was growling as he held it open. The door was wiggling as Lisa, sitting in the passenger seat, tried to close it. She looked pissed at being discovered and glared at me as she finally gave up on the door and came out to face us.
"What the hell Lisa?" Derick hung up his phone then placed it in his pocket. "Are you stalking me now?" She crossed her arms and gave him a look.
"Your running around with another woman." She pointed at me.
"You're being paranoid." He began and she slapped the pie out of his hand. Oscar grabbed it before it hit the ground.
"Then why are you here and didn't even give me a call?" he rolled his eyes.
"Last minute business and My Beta asked if I could look out for Danica since I was here. Plus, you said you were looking after your grandfather. so shouldn't you be in his pack?" She waved a finger at him.
"Oh, Danica is it now?" She stabbed a finger to his chest. "Listen you're the one who's sneaking around with another woman." Oscar giggled as he wandered away.
"You're the one sneaking around with another woman and a vampire at that." Derick frowned.
"Why are you hanging around with a vampire?" She shrugged.
"Who says I can't hang around with a vampire?" I watched as Hel came out of the shadows and looked at me.
"We take the same class." She folded her arms. "And you were looking cozy in that restaurant." Oscar waved a hand as he held the pie.
"Am I invisible now?" He looked to Hel "or are you colour blind? I was in the same place eating the same food…" He looked to Derick and snorted. "Doesn't mean I'm going to fuck him." He turned and wrapped an arm around my hips. "This one though, I'll take all night." I shook my head and saw the murderous look on Lisa's face begin to subside a little as she turned and started to run her fingers over Derick's chest.
I turned away and shot Oscar a look as she started cooing into him and he pandered to her whim.
'Oscar… I know who that vampire is.' He nodded. 'She fought the Banshee in the ring.' He grinned.
'Helvetica? Yeah we all watched you kick her ass. No worries… she's not so tough…' I slowly turned to look at him.
'What?' He winced.
'The Watchdogs and I all know you're the Banshee. We've trained with you, seen how you fight… It's hard not to see the identical techniques.' I sighed.
'Dam it…' He shrugged and smoothed out the paper on the pie as I sucked my lips. 'Well, she isn't hard to fight. She relies on getting a bite in first and bleeding her pray out. And Lisa there has been hinting that she's the Banshee.' His eyes widened slightly.
'You think she's the pink bitch that was trying to steal your name?' I grinned and gave a nod.
"What are you two talking about?" We looked around as Hel stood with her hands on her hips.
"I didn't say anything…" She rolled her eyes.
"Don't give me that. I know werewolves" She waved a finger between us. "You two were mind linking or something." I saw Derick frown and look over.
"Only Wolves in a pack or family unit can mind link…" he muttered. Oscar grinned.
"Mamma somewhat adopted Danica, we grew up on the same streets for twenty years one. She's one of the family now." I could see the suspicious look on Derick's face as Lisa shook her head.
"They're fucking and he's given her a whores mark." I frowned.
"What?" Oscar grinned then looked to Derick as he seemed ready to explode over something.
'Play along… this will be fun.' Oscar's voice went through my head and he shrugged and held up his hands.
"What can I say. I like them feisty." He smirked. "That means she's mine. Your man won't stand a chance." Derick clenched his jaw but said nothing.
"Tramp." Hel sniggered and walked to the car getting in the drivers seat.
"So cheap." Lisa snuggled into Derick's arms.
"Look," He finally managed. "There has been a mistake here." He looked to Lisa. "You owe me, Oscar and Danica an apology." She frowned.
"Why? There must be something she's not telling you if she'll stoop low enough to let a beta mark her like a whore." I felt Oscar growl.
"I could hold my own in a fight with your alpha boyfriend there." He smirked and Derick let his head fall back in annoyance.
"Nothing was going on. I just forgot to message you because I was busy with work… Also, I was getting things for Sunday when you come out." She squealed.
"Really?" He nodded.
"Yes. Now… it's getting late." I frowned. He mood seemed to have taken a turn and he looked sad now. "I need to hit the road if I'm to get back." She nodded and reached up to his lips.
"Or you could stay with your girlfriend." They both turned to look at Oscar. "What?" Derick smirked and looked to Lisa as she sighed.
"I'm in shared accommodation in the city. Vic won't mind but the others will get me kicked out." Oscar chuckled.
"Never stopped me or everyone I've ever shared accommodation with." She glared at Oscar and turned away to mutter to Derick.
I looked away as Oscar cleared his throat and looked to me. He nodded and we walked away a little. After a few minutes Derick approached us and waved his hand.
"Do you two need a lift anywhere?" Oscar shook his head and handed him back the pie.
"No, we live near here." Derick nodded but he kept looking forward as he took the pie and unlocked his car.
"I'll see you tomorrow then… Jenny will be in touch." He walked away and slipped inside his car without looking back.
"What's going on with him?" Oscar shrugged.
"You don't want to know…" He sighed. "Well, let's get you home." I nodded.
"Actually, I'm going to hit the gym. Rodger's place is open twenty-four hours then go out and patrol or run." He nodded.
"Want company?" I shrugged.
"Aren't you busy?" He shook his head.
"No, we just turn up when needed. There's already Watchdogs out on the street." He grinned "and you need some warming up before the big match." I nodded and we headed towards Rodger's gym.
