Chapter 65 - Chapter 65

Mathew's POV

I woke with a headache and tried to grab Jenny but she wasn't there. The bed was cold on her side, and the bright light spilt in through the window. I looked around and saw the time on my phone.

"Oops," I had slept until one thirty. With a grunt I got up and hit the shower before getting dressed and running downstairs to get food from the kitchen.

As I worked through a plate of food someone had set aside for me I began to make my way to the Alpha's office. I stopped outside as I heard a kids program playing and I frowned as I watched my Jenny on the sofa watching cartoons.

'Sexy… I didn't know she liked cartoons… Oh Warner brothers… dam… I have work to do.' I reluctantly turned away and entered the office then frowned as Derick sat at the table.

"Hi, you're working?" He looked up at me and snorted.

"Yes, I am big mouth. Tell anyone ells?" I frowned then memories of last night came back to me.

"Shit, no. Just Jenny… and Richard." He looked at me with daggers. "The pack doctor." He seemed to relax slightly.

"Last thing I need is more gossip about my love life… Goddess knows there's enough about that already." I nodded and took a seat in front of him at the desk.

"Anything interesting in those?" He shook his head.

"Rogues attacks at the west border…" He frowned. "Strange… I thought given the situation they would have had more activity towards the Blue Moon Canyons in the east." I nodded and looked to the report.

"Odd… but this could be just some random Rogues the outer fealty packs are dealing with." I saw a look on his face. "So… are you going to go out and visit them soon?" He frowned.

"Other packs?" I shook my head.

"No, our outer fealty packs. You know the ones we look after because they don't have an Alpha of their own. You haven't gone to see them in years." He nodded and grunted.

"As long as the girls are healthy, I could take a day to go see them." I nodded slowly.

"Five. You'll need three five days." I finished my food and put the plate on the desk then stood and walked to the map on the wall. "Day one you can meet the four in the north, day two and three the six spread out over here on the east and day four these four in the south and then day five out to the outer reaches in the west and visit the seven there." I could see him frown.

"I don't remember there being so many…" I smirked.

"Do you remember taking in the Lightfoot Pack?" He nodded.

"These are their fealty packs that didn't join Stevens." I indicated several packs to the east and south. "They came to us. Shortly after Jessica left I introduced the longer patrols to encompass the whole territory and we have regular reports and communications." He nodded and, held up some paperwork.

"Is that what this is?" I looked at the papers he held and nodded.

"Yeah, It was Grandmothers Idea and she came up with the Rota. I just made sure it was done." He sighed and nodded.

"I should really go and see how she is… especially after the warning she gave me…" I couldn't help but giggle.

"You know she's still pissed about Lisa right?" He shot me a glance. I held up my hands. "It's none of my business who you want to fuck… but grandma would have taken her head off if she was younger... or could get out of her chair." He let a sigh leave his lips.

"And Danica is a pain in the backside." I smirked.

"How'd you come to that conclusion?" He sighed and went back to his desk and slumped down in the seat.

"Not only has she got my wolf in all sorts of trouble, she's argumentative, stubborn, rude, distant…" I chuckled as I sat down.

"Yeah, she reminds me of someone I know." I wiggled my eyebrows at him. "Plus, she's never had a pack… I guess you could say she's a city rogue having to get use to the hierarchy in the countryside pack." I could see him nod slightly. "But what sort of trouble is your wolf in?" He glared at me. "I won't tell anyone, unless it's a medical emergency and it's the doctor." He rolled his eyes.

"When Danica is around… my wolf wants to get away from her or fight her…or fuck her… I don't think he wants to kill her, but he definitely feels threatened by her and seems to be unable to sit quiet." I nodded.

"But you felt sparks?" He nodded.

"Yeah… I went with Jenny to get Maggy today and I felt the same sparks when I touched her hand. I definitely have a reaction to her." I nodded.

"But your wolf doesn't like her?" He shook his head then rested it against his hands as he placed his elbows onto the desk.

"It's not like I've been able to get a proper hold of her to know for certain what she is to me, nor has she taken that scent blocker off. But now that she's gone, he's going fucking nuts wanting her back." He growled. "But when she's around he wants to run away." He shot me a confused and pained look. "Do you think she has feelings for me?" I shrugged.

"She hasn't said anything, but I can see if Jenny can find out more." He nodded and sighed then looked up as there came a knock on the door. Jenny stood with Maggy and smiled.

"I'll need to hand the girls over. I have to go to the office and get this theft thing sorted." Derick nodded as Lilly ran around his desk and jumped onto his lap. "Here," She placed Maggy onto my lap then kissed my forehead. "You'll need the practice." I frowned and looked around.

"What? What's that supposed to mean?" The office door shut and Derick gave a little chuckle. "What does that mean?" He shrugged and turned his attention to Lilly.

"You need to ask her that not us." He made a few faces that caused Lilly to giggle and she mumbled.

"Did she just try and say something?" I looked to Derick and he smiled widely.

"What was that?" He said in a baby voice. "Say it again?" he coaxed Lilly and began to smile. With a determined point she looked to Derick her little hand shaking.

"Mumma!" she squealed and put her hands to her mouth. I held my breath as a smirk so grate crept over my face. Derick seemed annoyed but didn't say anything for a long time. "Mumma!" She squeaked again. He finally snapped out of his stupor.

"No, Daddy, Daaaaddddddyyyyy." He coaxed but she shook her head and pointed again.

"Mumma!" He wiped his face and shot me a look.

"Who the fuck did this?" I shrugged.

"The only one who has been trying to get her to say mummy is Lisa…" As Lilly bagna to call him Mumma again I couldn't help but laugh.

A phone rang and we both instinctively reached into our pockets. I saw Derick smirk as he answered looking at me with a hint of amusement.

"Hey babe, we were just talking about you." I could hear that giggle down the line and my hair stood on end.

"All good I hope?" He nodded.

"Listen for yourself." He held the phone to Lilly and she squealed in delight as she pointed to Derick.

"Mumma."

"Oh my goodness Baby is that Lilly finally speaking?" He nodded and leant back in his seat.

"Yeah, she's becoming the little chatter box all of a sudden. So what's the occasion? I wasn't expecting a call until later."

"Oh, my Uni is taking two week's break, the mid semester holidays so, I'm going to be all yours all week." He smiled and nodded.

"That is unbelievably good news." I frowned as I began to haze out of what they were saying.

"Which Uni does Lisa go to?" Derick frowned and covered the phone.

"Bell Gate global tec." He went back to the phone. "Yeah sorry Alpha business…" I faded out as that giggle came again and my wolf began to flick. If I had been in wolf form I would have looked like a fur ball as all my hair would have been standing on end. My thoughts went back to when I first met Danica in the coffee shop and she had her student card out on the table. She was a Bell Gate Global tec student. I pulled my phone out and sent a text to Danica. Something seemed off.
