Jenny's POV
I was sitting in a bar watching my mate and the packs doctor getting drunk as they discussed Mate bonds. Turns out that there was one case were an Alpha had two Luna mates, but this Alpha was so strong and powerful that he needed the two Luna to balance him out.
Another case was a She-wolf with multiple personalities and each personality had a mate and her mates could tell which personality was dominant by which one felt the strongest connection to her at that time. It was also the case with identical twins and triplets that they have a high chance of developing a mate bond to the same mate. However, parents of the twins and triplets would ensure that they would develop their own personalities and so would be attracted to different mates.
I took a sip of my coke and grumbled. It sucks being the designated driver. The two started laughing and I looked around.
"No…" Richard waved a hand. "If this wolf you're talking about already had one mate that died. He wouldn't end up with two." Mathew nodded.
"But he feels the sparks with both of them." I sighed. Mathew was rather smashed at this point and was in danger of falling from his stool. "How can someone feel the sparks for two if you're so adamant that he can only have one?" I grabbed Mathew as he began to slump.
"Ok to the car both of you." I finished my coke and herded the two out to the car. Thankfully Richard could hold his drink better and wasn't much of a problem, even helping me get Mathew into the back of the car.
"Too much alcohol… Mutter brain in tissue forming." I nodded and he grinned. "Fuck I'm waisted…" I helped him into the front passenger seat.
"Yes you are." I closed the door and took a moment to compose myself before getting into the drivers seat. "Still at the apartment above the laundry?" Richard nodded.
"Yes, thank you." He sighed as Mathew rolled onto his back.
"Ok. I'll tell you. It's Derick." I stopped as I was about to pull away.
"What's Derick?" I looked to Richard, he seemed to sober up slightly.
"Derick's the man that has the two mates… one's Lisa and the other..." He sat up and smirked pointing a finger at me. "The other is Danica."
"What?" I thought my wolf was going to pass out as Richard sighed.
"No wonder she didn't look at me twice." Mathew shrugged.
"Oh, she was looking at you…" He frowned at his own words. "I wonder if she gets the sparks too? Or not being stated already." I frowned.
"Wait, what?" Mathew fell back onto the seats and began to mumble incoherently. I looked to Richard and he shrugged.
"We'll have to ask in the morning." I nodded and drove.
It wasn't long before I pulled up to the apartment and Richard opened his door. He gave me a strange smile.
"Thank you for getting me home. And I'll be seeing you in the clinic soon?" He smirked and I nodded.
"Yeah, well... I need to get this one home." He nodded then jumped as Mathew sat up and yelled.
"Testing, we get them all into the clinic and test to see what's going on…" He frowned at his own words. "Better not tell Derick why… he won't like it." Richard nodded.
"I'll think of something." Mathew watched as Richard got out the car and staggered slightly to his front door. I waited until he got through the door and collapsed onto the stairs then reached over and closed the door. As we pulled away, I glanced at Mathew in my mirror.
"So… who's the one that was rejected three times?" He opened his mouth then shut it.
"I can't tell you, I promised discretion." He lay back down and shuddered. "And I think she would beat me to an inch of death." He whispered his eyes wide.
It was morning and Mathew still slept soundly. I shook my head and got ready for the day. Outside in the front hall I saw Derick with the kids. We greeted each other and walked to the garage together.
"Where are you off to so early?" He asked as he strapped Lilly into her seat and the boys climbed into his car.
"I'm going to see Danica and collect Maggy." He nodded.
"Good, I was going to ask about that. Want some company?" I nodded and he waved to the front passenger seat. "I'll drive. I just have to drop these two off at school." I nodded and smiled; the boys always looked so cute in their uniform.
We dropped the boys off at school watching as they stirred up the others then vanished inside the building. Derick pulled away then turned down towards Red Springs.
After a short drive we pulled up outside. We got out the car and walked to the front door then Derick seemed to hesitate as he stood holding Lilly. I gave him a look then knocked on the door.
"She won't bite… much." I saw a flush rise on his cheeks.
"That's… not what bothers me." I giggled and shot him a confused look.
"She's awesome. I wouldn't have agreed to her babysitting the kids if I didn't trust her implicitly." I shrugged. "And besides, she's probably already forgiven you for your behavior at the BBQ." His face flushed and I could see him looking back to the car ready to run.
The door opened and Danica was there holding Maggy over her left hip. She smiled as she looked from me to Derick then waved us in.
"Morning!" She called and gave me a hug that I returned then looked to Maggy. She was so healthy and better than I had ever seen.
"Good morning, and look at you!" I gave Maggy a little handshake and touched her smiling face then looked to Derick as he seemed nervous to be here.
"Good morning Alpha." Danica said then stepped aside. "I have a pot of coffee going and some of those self-bake rolls in the oven and fresh ham." I nodded.
"Just the coffee for me," She gave me a look and I shrugged. "What?" She placed Maggy into the high-chair and smirked.
"You smell different." She looked to me then got the coffee ready. "Alpha how do you take your coffee or do you prefer tea?" He placed a hand to the back of his neck as he sat with Lilly on his knee.
"Coffee, two sugars please." I shot him a quick glance as I had never seen him act so odd before then looked to the food and felt my stomach flip. Carefully I chose a spot at the table where the smell of the woodlands came blowing in through the window.
"Oh, you definitely have news." I saw Danica grinning as she placed the mugs to the table.
"Well, no time like the present. I was going to wait until I told Mathew first but he went and got drunk." Danica seemed to be on tender hooks while Derick was looking around slightly confused. "I'm pregnant."
