The two ignored each other for the remainder of the night since they were angry. Xia Yan didn't ask Du Xia to make her some food even though her stomach rumbled violently.
Before urging Mo He to leave for work the following morning, Xia Yan requested, "I want to go out for a while."
"No, you can't!" Mo He refused without hesitation.
"You're taking my freedom away! I'll call the police on you if you don't let me out!" Xia Yan raised her chin and threatened.
If Xia Rou hadn't coerced Xia Yan, she wouldn't have to suffer in the Mo family residence. Xia Yan could only compromise, but she still needed to fight for her rights to freedom.
Xia Yan needed her freedom to visit her sick grandma and ensure that her surgery went smoothly. Seeing Xia Yan's stubborn attitude, Mo He said expressionlessly, "Go ahead and call the police. See if they care."
Xia Yan felt like her head was about to start smoking when she heard Mo He's words. She gritted her teeth and took a deep breath to calm herself down. "I'm not going to discuss our relationship with others when I'm out. I have a lot of things I need to do!"
Xia Yan took another deep breath and said pleadingly, "Can you let me go out just this once? I promise not to speak to others about us! I won't embarrass you or your family."
Mo He noticed Xia Yan's pitiful appearance and saw her eyes, which shone with anger from the night before, become teary. His heart instantly softened as he said, "Don't tell anyone that you're my wife, and don't speak of your relationship with the Mo family."
"Keep your mouth shut about my family's business, and don't speak about us if you go home."
Xia Yan nodded her head and agreed to Mo He's series of conditions without hesitation.
"Don't worry. When I leave the house, I no longer have anything to do with you or the Mo family."
For some reason, Mo He felt uncomfortable when he heard this. He waved his hand, trying to rid himself of his unhappiness. Then he said, "All right, I got it! Also, my family won't be providing you with a driver or a car. If you want to leave, you have to find your own means of transport."
When Mo He finished speaking, he opened the room door and left without looking back. Xia Yan made a prompt decision with Mo He's permission. She left in a hurry after packing her things.
Xia Yan couldn't help but sigh when she arrived at the Mo family residence's entrance. The Mo family was influential across Jiang City with a large business, and their residence was enormous, leaving an uninhabited radius of five kilometers surrounding the house.
Xia Yan tugged her backpack. Then she raised her head and puffed out her chest as she walked toward the east side of the door. If Xia Yan hadn't asked for Du Xia's help, she would've gotten lost within five hundred meters of the door.
Xia Yan cursed Mo He as she walked. She would've been by her grandma's side if it weren't for him, and if the Mo family didn't live in that d*mned area, she wouldn't have to walk so far.
Xia Yan walked for nearly two kilometers before she saw a car passing by. She tried stopping the car without hesitation. The driver rolled down his window and looked at Xia Yan. Then he asked with a puzzled expression, "Where are you going, Miss?"
The driver looked around and became even more puzzled. He muttered, "No one else lives around here besides the Mo family."
'They wouldn't walk anywhere. Is this pitiful-looking woman one of their servants they had just fired?'
The man pondered and collected his thoughts. "Get in the car, Miss. I'll get you to where you need to go."
Xia Yan glanced at the man hesitantly. Then she thought of the long road ahead, opened the door, and got into the car.
The man glanced at Xia Yan and became curious about her black mask. "Don't you feel hot with that mask on?"
Xia Yan shook her head and smiled. "I have a rash on my face. I don't like the wind on my face either."
The man replied with an "oh" and ceased prying. The man only stopped the car when they arrived at a bus stop. Xia Yan hurriedly exited the car after thanking the man.
Then Xia Yan remembered that she hadn't even asked for the man's name while waiting for the bus. But unbeknownst to her, that person was an acquaintance of the Mo family, and the two would eventually meet again sooner or later.
When Xia Yan finally arrived at the hospital, she saw her grandma sound asleep on the hospital bed. But Aunt Cui was nowhere around. She put her things away and was about to take some fruits that she had bought on the way to the hospital and wash them when she saw the door to the ward open.
