Shirohara never thought that she'll meet a god. And she never thought that a god of thunder was a very shy and nervous person. She imagined gods as scary entities who can do whatever they want to you to make you obey in just one look.
The god of thunder looked like and elementary kid and wearing a black leather jacket and a pants that seemed to be from the skin of a cheetah. He had a golden hair and eyes. Currents of electricity can be seen through his hair.
"Are you… the chosen one?" the god asked as she approached Shirohara while fidgeting.
"What chosen one?" she tried not to know. In fact, she wasn't sure what does a chosen one really means.
"No need to hide it anyway. The scent of the moon lingers to you. I would like to have an a=audience with the alchemist, Namia." He sounded serious this time. As if his appearance was to make a weak impression to his enemies, making them underestimate him.
"Well, he went on inside. He looks upset though."
"I see, I understood. Anyway, since you'll be sticking with Namia, I suggest not to follow most of what he says, okay?" he smiled and patted Shirohara's head as he went inside.
She actually thought he'll burn her so she closed her eyes that time.
Once again, she was left outside. She didn't want to go in as she feels like she was suffocated. Maybe she starts to feel afraid of locked spaces. Or she's not used to see people looking at her because of her different colored eyes.
A few minutes later, Rainne walked towards her.
"What were you doing here? You're supposed to go inside, it's not good to stay here out." He suggested as he approached and scratching his head.
"The breeze feels good." She replied, not looking at Rain.
"I see. I'm sorry about earlier. Anyway, I know that Master would be able to catch it anyway so I didn't hesitated to hot you with my arrow." He laughed maniacally.
"Is he even saying the truth? He looked like he was really about to kill me earlier. What if Namia didn't caught that arrow? Well, I don't mind if I died anyway." She told herself as she looks upon the horizon.
"Hey, what was your name again?" he peeks through her left side.
"Shirohara." She replied and closed her eyes as the wind touched her face.
"White flower, huh. Who named you that? Speaking of that. there's this flower named hero bloom. Most people from Antares calls that white flower too." He starts rubbing his chin.
"My friends. They said they found me in the middle of those white flowers, that's why they gave that name to me. How about you? Why was your name Rainne? Were you born when it's raining?" she asks as she finally looks upon him.
"Well, not just a normal rainy day when I was born though. I was born on a dessert, western part of Illyria. It never rained in there thus the oasis is our hope. My parents helped out an old woman lost in the desert who turned out to be the goddess of waters. She gave a blessing to my mother saying that once I was born it will rain, and it will also rain at the day of the week that I was born. But that didn't last. The beastmen attacked us, but we're lucky to fled and the goddess of the waters sent us to Antares." As he was explaining, he's doing hand gestures that also distracts Shirohara.
Rainne noticed that and asked "Are you listening? You look like dumbfounded though." He inspects her face as he stares.
"What's dumbfounded? A dumb that's found dead? Who's that? is that a person?" Shirohara answered back with questions.
"Eehh? You seemed to be lacking some dictionary knowledge for your vocabulary. Here, read this on your free time." She handed her a red book with no texts at all as Shirohara opens it.
"It's empty…" she said.
"well, I did say free time though. You can read it when you don't have anything to do. I've read it all so I'm giving it to you." He laughed again maniacally.
Shirohara didn't know what was funny about it so she stood there awkwardly.
"Anyway, your eyes colors were different though. Does that affect your sight?" he asked curiously and looking at Shirohara closer.
"I don't really think so?" She doesn't sound sure as she remembered her dream.
"Really? Well, what color is this?" he pulled out a hat from the air out of nowhere and pointed on the blue rose attached to the right part of the hat.
"Black." She answered.
"Black?" Rainne tilted his head. "Well, what about this?" he pointed to the hat's color.
"Gray…?" she wasn't sure as the color turns to lighter and darker.
"Shirohara… I think the colors of her eyes affects her sight… but should I tell her…?" he asks himself. He just discovered out about Shirohara's story earlier when he followed Namia. He doesn't want to make the kid upset.
"Good answers, here. I'll give it to you." He placed it on her head and the wind flew strongly. Surprisingly, the hat didn't flew. It amazed Shirohara.
"Only the one who put the hat on can remove that enchanted hat. Try it." He gladly smiled this time, though like how a maniac would smile.
Shirohara uses all her strength to remove the hat but she couldn't. and instead of getting frustrated. She was so amazed.
"How do I bath now?" she asks after realizing that she can't bath with the hat on if the one who placed it was the one who can only remove it.
Rainne couldn't hold his laugh this time that made the birds resting on the floor fly off.
"Of course, you can. Here…" he took off the hat from Shirohara's head and handed it to her. "There, since it's now yours, you can equip and unequip it on your own. Perfect in keeping money, right?"
"Mr. Rainne, you're actually a cool person!" She complemented and ran along around Rainne.
Rainne noticed that Shirohara gets distracted easily, which made him sigh in relief yet it could be a danger in terms of battle. "Well, she's still a child and she can still learn." He thought.
"Where's Namia by the way?" Shirohara asked.
"He left with the god of thunder. A meeting involving gods, probably." He answered.
Shirohara almost forgot about that thunder god.
"Okay, will he come back?"
"Yep, of course. Anyway, since you're his new apprentice now. I should teach you some basic things you need to know…" he was interrupted.
"Did you made this hat?" Shirohara asked as she inspects the hat.
"Yep, why?"
"It doesn't spy on me, right?" she glared at him.
"Nope. I designed it for keeping valuables anyway." He looks away.
"I thought you can inly make gold… I didn't know you can craft stuffs like this though."
"Well, what's the use of my gold if they'll get stolen anyway. And I can't just be transforming leads to gold. It drains psynergy a lot especially depending on the amount. Actually, I found out that's as I keep on using my psynergy, it either fastens my aging or slows it down. Depending on the amount either." He answered.
"Hey, Rainne. What kind of person… is Namia…?" she wasn't sure why she asked that but she wants to know at least.
"He's a good person. You can trust him. I admit, I mess up with him sometimes. He also remains calm as ever, no matter what's the situation is. And you should learn that too. As his apprentice." He advised as he patted her head again.
"One last question, Rainne."
"What is it?"
"Why do you… wanted to be young?"
Rainne didn't expected to ended up having his mind blocked from that moment he heard that question.
"I… why did I wanted to be young, to be honest, I forgot as the moment that Master explained to me what was the secret for the elixir of life that grants immortality and youthness. I wanted to be immortal before but to live a long life must be tiring. I feel bad that Master was cursed to be immortal. Some may think it's a good thing, but not really. Anyway, I wanted to look young again so I can get a girl to marry. Well, change plan, I'm now going to seek for the fountain of youth instead!" He laughed again.
"What's marry?" she asked and tilted her head.
"You seriously don't know about marriage?" he frowned. Shirohara just shook her head.
"well, it's when you found someone you love that you want to take care, protect, and be with you till you die, that's marriage." He cleared his throat.
"Can I marry a girl too?" she asked out of nowhere.
"Eh!? Well, you better marry off a guy." He winked.
"What's this marriage topic about? You're disgusting, Rainne." Namia said. Be was behind Rainn with arms crossed and staring at Rainne with disgust.
"How long have you been in there! Anyway, it's not what you think and I'm no gonna marry a twelve year old!" he defended.
"You better not, now go. Shirohara and I had something to discuss." He closed his eyes and held Shirohara's wrists and walks towards the door.
"Goodbye Rainne! See you around!" Shirohara smiled and waved her hand.
But neither of them would've thought that it was their last meeting, of Rainne.
