Annabelle POV
As I watched the drama unfold from behind the fountain, I couldn't help but chuckle. No one would want to be caught in that crossfire, even though you were a badass secret agent with a hidden agenda. You'd want to be smart enough to know when not to engage so, I wisely stood behind the fountain and observed. Not a moment ago, I had discovered a deep secret about the Harrells that had been earth-shattering. I hadn't planned on eavesdropping or discovering what I had but as I was stalking through the sea of bodies in the ballroom, I had accidentally caught a whiff of the conversation between Mr and Mrs Harrell as they stood beside a closed-off section of the room, arguing. Truthfully, I hadn't been able to resist listening in. I had been expecting to hear some unimportant family scribbling about Charles or business. But what I had heard instead froze me on the spot.
They had another child.
