I strolled around the wet sand aimlessly, hoping to find a clue where the ship would have gone.
There was a tall rock in the distance that I felt like checking out. I left the others and went around it; lo and behold, Gilbert's body lay limp in the dirt alongside his men
The air picked up as I stood on the rock.
Whoever did it must have had some reason for moving their body away from the open. I bent down and placed my ear close to Gilbert's nose, he was not breathing, and neither were his men. There were no open wounds on their bodies, which made me suspect magic position. I had no idea what was going on, and the ship I intended to travel with was also nowhere to be found.
I kicked Gilbert's dead body with enough force that it sent his body flying into the sand.
"You have been useless to me from the moment we met," I said to his dead body.
