The warm, buzzing ambience of Joe's Diner was filled with the clinking of dishes, bursts of laughter, and the hum of quiet conversations. Sitting in one of the red leather booths under the soft glow of hanging lights, Emma and Rakim leaned forward, listening intently to their friends.
