Her words made me laugh as hard as I had ever laughed before. But in a second after I was about to open my mouth to reject her words, Markus's voice echoed in my head.
{"My Clan is the only one left, whose reproduction function is still working as of humankind.}
Those words made me finally understand, that Markus can make a girl pregnant, and then I finally remembered that he never used condoms when we had sex. Neither on our first night together, nor after that. And the realization of that made finally made me scared.
"Are you okay, girl? Aren't you going to faint once again?" Mallory's worried voice turned me back to reality. I looked at her, then shook my head and tried to get some information out of her.
"What do you know about that?" I asked without any specifications, while she stared at me, then turned her head back to the road.
"About what? Pregnancy? I don't know much, but… I just think you need to make a checkup on that too. What if…?" her voice was interrupted by the loud sound of my phone calling. Of course, it was Markus, but I don't even know when his phone number happened on my phone. I don't even know when I used my phone last time.
"Yes, sweetheart?" I asked in my sweet voice, without any intention to share with him my worries now. I need to be sure about that before telling him.
"How are you?" he asked with his caring voice, and I heard silence on the other side. He was alone there while talking with me, and I wondered where those girls and Kristof are gone.
"I'm fine, Markus. Don't worry," I said, then looked at Mallory who just stopped our car in the clinic parking lot, and I saw black G-Wagen parking near us, "We arrived at the clinic. Will call you later. By the way, thanks for the guards."
I turned off the call before hearing his answer, took my purse, and went out of the car. Mallory looked over me, then grabbed her purse and locked the car. We went to the inside of the clinic and a few guards followed us, while some stayed outside. I looked at Mallory, who stopped near the reception desk.
"Aurora Malone needs a general checkup, plus…," she looked over me again, then added, "And a pregnancy checkup took. Pregnancy checkups should be private and secret. The results should be done as soon as possible, but before we will go out of the clinic."
The girl at the reception desk noted every word Mallory said without even the slightest remark, then put everything on the computer, and gave us the small list and then the bill. Mallory took a sum of money out of her purse, put it on the table, and gave me the list.
"I'll wait here. The money Markus gave for the checkup." She said, as if she saw my reaction when she took the money out of the purse. I couldn't allow her to spend money on me, but I can say nothing to Markus. If it makes him calm knowing I'm fine, I'll survive it.

I turned back to the room and sat on the sofa, looking at the long lists of police rats girls were writing for us. They explained that some rats were put into the police before they joined, so they were writing only those whom they know as they were from the same or from the other brothels they were at. As for the other police rats, we should ask the head of the police of our state, who knows everything, and who was the one sending those rats. I looked over the long list, then stood up and joined Kristof near the window. He was staring there for already half an hour as if showing he doesn't like the situation at all. But…
The problem is, I do not care if he likes it or not.
"I'll take full responsibility for that. You don't have to worry," I said, then put a hand on his shoulder, "Have you made what you were supposed to?"
"The list of the bosses that wanted to hire your guards is in my office. Give me a few seconds," he disappeared after his words, so I turned around to the girls and asked what I wanted to ask all this time.
"Is he working for the police as well?" I asked straightly, and the girls rolled their eyes at me. One of them opened her mouth…
"Here," Kristof said, entering the room in a few seconds, as he promised. I took it, then took the lists that the girls made for us and looked over them briefly. My eyes caught quite a bunch of familiar names, but my face was still cold. Seems I have no one to trust except Aurora.
"Those girls will go to my mansion and stay there as long as needed. I'll find a spot for them on my own," I said to Kristof, then looked over the list of rats once again, "And with that, I'll deal on my own too. You deal with other bosses on hiring my staff. I need the prices they can pay me tomorrow morning."
"Feels like you don't trust me, Markus," Kristof suddenly said, crossing his hands over his chest.
"Do I have any reasons?" I said, twisting the list in my fingers. His face remained the same pale, as it can't change its color, but his lips twitched after my words. He hides something, and the list in my hands makes him worry about it. I hid the list in the pocket of my shirt and added before leaving, "Do as I say. And if you'll hurt my sister, that will be the last thing you did."

It took a long while after we were done with everything. The gynecologist was too silent, staring at the results on his screen and making me wait in temptation. He looked at some sheets of paper the nurses brought him from my previous checkups as if looking for something specific. I finally cleared my throat, attracting his attention.
"Any news?"
He turned to me as if he accidentally forgot I'm still there. His face remained the same pale, but there was something in his eyes saying he was embarrassed. Seems, he really forgot to send me out of the room, and that made me wonder if he was really a vampire or just so inattentive?
"Miss Malone, could you please wait outside a few more minutes? We have the cafeteria on the upper floor, so you can wait there. I'll find you," his voice was as polite as if he was talking to Markus. I decided to get out and catch some coffee while asking Mallory why he's so afraid of Markus.
I knew she was waiting for me outside the room. Mallory jumped on her two in a second after I closed the door, and took my hand. Her pale face seemed to be worried, but I couldn't understand why. Does she... Does she want me to be pregnant? Maybe... It was Markus who told her I could be pregnant? Or even...
{It could be Eleanor, as she saw my reaction to blood and food in the dining room.}
"What he told you? Don't tempt me!" Mallory squeezed my hand, waiting for what I'll tell her. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell her either good or bad news, as I knew as much as her.
"He hasn't told me even a single word about my results. Asked to go to the cafeteria and wait a few minutes, he'll find me on my own." I rolled my eyes in irritation, and Mallory hissed something that was hard to understand. Probably, she was cursing the gynecologist to live a long and very happy life. I grabbed her elbow and led her to the upper floor, "I want to have some tasty coffee."
She hasn't said even a word in a protest, so I led her to the elevator I accidentally found and pressed the button on the second floor.
"What that doctor has made to Markus, that he's trembling whenever he saw me?"
"Actually, he did nothing. Markus threatened him, that if something will happen to you, all the clinics will be burned out. Markus funded those clinics, they are pretty popular not only because of qualified doctors," Mallory giggled, then we stepped out of the elevator and went to the cafeteria. We ordered two cups of coffee and took a table near the window. The weather was gloomy, cold, and even rainy from time to time.
"So, he's just afraid I will complain about bad service?" I giggled, then looked at the waiter who put two cups of coffee at our table. I took a small sip and frowned. The quality of the coffee wasn't as I expected, but it wasn't that bad either. Something in between.
My mind flew somewhere away from that place, thinking about Markus and those poor girls. What will happen to them? Will they find their happiness after such a miserable life they had? And will Markus allow me to help them?
Suddenly, I felt someone touching my hand, and I was immediately cold. I blinked several times, then looked at Mallory. She pointed at the man standing near us. I arched my eyebrow and looked at him from head to toes.
It was the same gynecologist who was scared to even looked at me. His hands were trembling, holding some piece of paper. Before I could open my mouth and say something, he interrupted me.
"Miss Aurora..."
