Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 Secrets Behind Ranks

After going back to my house, my clone washes up and begins to absorb the four hundred monster cores. It takes him almost two days to absorb every last one of them but since my intelligence stat is sitting at four hundred, I am able to absorb the monster cores rather quickly. Noticing this I am able to confirm that the intelligence stat does in fact dictate how fast a person can absorb monster cores.

Now that my clone has absorbed the monster cores in his possession, I am able to start distributing my free stat points.

"Neph, what do my stats need to be in order for me to rank up to C Rank"? I ask as I am looking at my status panel.

(Each of your stats will need to at five hundred in order for you to be able to advance to C Rank)

"Five hundred!? There is that much of a gap between D and C Rank"? I ask in astonishment.

(You've got that right, there isn't that much of a gap between E and D but once you start going higher in Rank the gap gets bigger and bigger. This every widening gap becomes the most noticeable when you're moving from D to C rank. That's why in most society's people that are C Rank and higher get such good treatment)

"Huh, I never realized that. So does that mean most normal citizens are E and D Rank"? I ask curiously.

(Correct, most everyday people are only E Rank since they don't go out and hunt monsters and put themselves in life and death situations. Most Adventurers that you meet will be D Rank because it's very difficult for normal people that don't have a system like you, to increase their rank. The Adventures' that you come across that are higher than C Rank usually have some kind of unique aspect about them that has allowed them to reach that specific rank)

"Oh, I didn't know that being a higher rank was such a difficult task", I reply back as I contemplate the rank structure.

(It is for non-monsters, but when it comes to monsters they are able to achieve higher ranks by constantly killing and eating other monsters. Usually a monster will have to eat quite a lot of monsters of the same rank until they reach their bottleneck, at this point they will instinctually hunt a monster of a higher rank. Once they successfully kill and eat a monster of a higher rank they will go through an evolutionary process that allows them to rank up. Each time a monster ranks up they gain a small amount of intelligence which allows them to hunt and kill other monsters or adventurers. With that being said, once a monster reaches C Rank it obtains the intelligence equivalent to a human child of about ten years of age)

"Damn, so that's how monsters end up getting stronger. I didn't know that the higher a monsters rank the more intelligent they become, I had thought it was just dependent on the species the monster was", I respond in amazement.

(Species does play a factor in a monsters natural born intelligence but it is not the end all be all in determining a monsters intelligence. Take yourself for example, even though you are a reincarnated soul, nobody is extremely shocked by your intelligence and ability to communicate. This is because goblins are known to have certain outliers that have high intelligence that will end up leading the rest, which is how goblin kings are created)

"What is a goblin king"? I ask in confusion.

(A goblin king is an extremely rare goblin evolution that has only happened twice since I have been alive. The last goblin king was over a millennia ago, he was able to amass an unimaginable amount of goblins under him and waged war against the human and elven kingdom. The war lasted for almost a century before a hero from the human kingdom eventually managed to kill the goblin king)

"Wow, in your entire life you have only witnessed two goblin kings. I wonder what causes the evolution into a goblin king. Do you need to be in charge of only goblins or if you gain a bunch of followers of different races you can somehow become a goblin king", I muse as I fantasize about becoming a goblin king.

(I honestly couldn't tell you how they come into being. The only times that I have seen them is after they've already become one)

(I honestly could not tell you how they come into being. The only times that I've seen them is after they've already become one)

"So, theoretically, I could become a goblin king is I continue to amass familia members"? I ask skeptically.

(In theory, accumulating familia members should fulfil the main requirement in order to become a goblin king, but that does not mean that there are not any sub requirements in order to gain this evolutionary path. With you having a system and you're able to control the growth of your individual status points you may be able to discover if there is a prerequisite in order to become a goblin king stat wise)

"That makes sense, historically speaking goblin evolutions are based upon this strongest characteristics or their highest stat. typically goblin shamans are known for their high intelligence and magic ability, which it makes as to why after you manipulated my evolution I became a goblin shaman instead of a traditional hobgoblin.

(That is the most likely cause; we will have to see what happens upon your next rank up)

"Since I need to get each of my stats up to 500, let me go ahead and distribute my free points and then I'll be able to see how many more monster cores my clone needs to collect before he gives all the rest to the dwarves", I say as I open my status window and get to work.

"So it appears that my clone will need to kill at least another 450 spiders' and absorb their cores. I was able to get all my stats to 300 while increasing my intelligence to 600", I say satisfied with my progress.

(Now that you have crossed 500 in your intelligence stat, I am able to able to make two new support skills that will greatly increase your overall strength)

"What two skills are you able to make", I ask in surprise.

(They are called Mana Sense and Mana Aura)

"They sound pretty cool, go ahead and make them", I reply enthusiastically.

(Creating New Skills)

(Ding)

(Mana Sense and Mana Aura have been created)

Mana Sense – Using ones mana, the caster is able to detect and identify everything within ones surroundings. The range to which the caster can sense is directly proportionate to the casters available mana.

Mana Aura – Using ones mana to create an oppressive and suffocating aura around oneself. The intensity and effective range of the casters aura is directly proportionate to the casters available mana.

....

I am so shocked by the description of these two new skills that I do not know what to say.

(Ha,Ha,Ha, I see that you are at a loss for words, I would be to if I was you. Now you truly know how frightening having infinite mana really is. Unlike you, I have known about these two skills so I have had time to adjust to the reality you are now facing. With these two skills, you will be nearly invincible)

"How can this even be possible? I never thought skills like these existed, much less owning them myself", I say finally coming out of my shocked stupor.

(Most high ranked entities have these skills, due to them having large mana reserves thanks to their high rank. Although it is unheard of, an individual bellow A Rank having these it is not impossible for you to have them thanks to lack of capacity in mana and your system that I now oversee)

"I will be able to see everything on any given floor with mana sense and I will be able to oppress every living creature. At this point there is not anything that can stand against me", I reply in a dejected tone.

(You do not have to be so upset about it, yes, it is basically you just going around in god mode, but you can always choose not to use the skills. They are not passive skill so you can decide if and when you even want to use them)

"I guess you are right, I do not have to use them if I do not want to", I reply after thinking it over.
