Chapter 7 - A dilemma

As the three made their way.

Alex who was in a fit of panic slowly realized he was baiting them.

"Why are they going straight for the boar trap?! D-don't tell me..." he said bewildered

"Did I make it too attractive?" while he was calming himself the third guy whose hair looked like a broccoli and a carrot had an affair suddenly started cutting one of his branches and roots inside the trap.

This was the first time he felt this much pain and the most damage he received in this world which greatly scared him because of the fear of his own demise.

'That hurt!' The Treant shouted internally

'Chirp!' Mayamin was also in a fit of panic as they continued chopping parts of him.

"Well that outthought do it" the 1 first guy who looked like a mix between a homeless man and a classical dwarf smith.

Through out the tortu- their clearing Alex's was forced to stand down and accept it.

'I felt as if I was taking a beating lying down!' this thought greatly angered and had set ablaze Alex's weird and self contradicting sense of justice.

Through out Alex's old life he had always hated when things for him were "unfair". he remembers all of the times when his classmates, teachers, parents and his life was unfair. He knew this attitude was whiny but he didn't care, he was the type of person to lose himself to rage and one that holds grudges as well.

As Alex's fired had ignited once more and the Alex that was surrendering to his fate gone. He was about to drag them to hell along with him by any means even if just one of them, when suddenly he felt his petty anger get washed off by pain far worse than them cutting pieces of him off.

It was fire. A burning pain way worse than anything felt in his previous life he was tempted to put out but he endured now his goals have changed. he doesn't intend to let a single one of them escape unscathed.

"Whew it was well worth it trying to learn a basic fire spell." said the female adventurer

"Yeah tell me about it. I remember lighting a fire being such a pain in the butt but now we can do it wayyyy easier. Hey Kalvin! get us some more fire wood from other trees, the ones from this seem to burn up quite fast." The homeless looking adventurer yelled at the first guy whose name was Kalvin.

"Aye aye sir" Kalvin said sarcastically.

While they were having this lighthearted conversation. Alex's was using all of his focus onto keeping the fire from spreading and killing him. After making something remotely fire resistant he managed to slow down the spread and discovered the fact that he can numb his senses on selected parts of the tree.

'I wished I knew this sooner, that would have saved me from all that suffering'

'Chirp-twee' Maya warned me

'Yeah maintaining that is consuming my nutrients stored up'

Wait would I die if I lose all of my nutrients, wait can I? when I first got a consciousness I remember having nutrients even though I still haven't done anything to actively increase it. This led him to multiple what if scenarios and he was now getting ready and already in for a battle of NUTRITION.

The three of them seem to plan on taking shifts watching out for danger. This was agreed upon after the homeless looking guys insistence that it was needed. 'You already made me suffer so much now your doing this!'. After he mentioned the fact that the sleeping place will also be crowded and uncomfortable, anger was quenched but not the anger that was stemming from his thirst for revenge.

I continued to listening on to their conversation from what I have heard and learned from them is that it seems that their are at least. No. There are the basic and intermediate spells, I assume that their are more but the 3 here seem relatively weak in comparison to others which gives me mixed feelings of fear, excitement and annoyance. The 3rd guy, the homeless looking dude was named Barain. Wow that name gives me a head ache and Barain seem to be of the same opinion. The female archer was named Rona and she seems like something akin to something less than genius and better than above average. From here on they talked about things I can't understand or just useless stuff.

From checking out their conversations I manage to determine that Rona and Kalvin are just rank F adventurers while Barain was rank E. And they are here after escaping from a large scale bandit attack on the carriages they were supposed to protect as part of the test to reach rank E. And Barain the guy who voluntered to test them thought that it was easy money because a group of rank c adventurers were supposed to come but as they were now I can easily guest it didn't go well and they've been lost for 3 days now.

Their was one interesting "thing" they mentioned and immediately getting my interest I searched for it

And as Rona feel asleep, I knew it was my cue to make a move. With the "thing" I got last second I made my move.

I slowly wrapped the two sleeping guys with my roots and used the "thing" which was a mushroom they talked about it being poisonous and can be used as paralyzing poison, after hearing this I quickly searched the surroundings with my roots and I found just one. I used my only poison on the archer girl Rona who was outside the trap.

As I was about to finish capturing them Barain woke up and overpowered the roots that still weren't fully intertwined around him.

"Tch" I remarked in annoyance

And I said that out laud unintentional and the voice, if you could call it that startled the already tense Barain.

Barain Immediately tried to wake Rona and Kalvin up but I knew it was useless because I already full trapped and plugged Kalvin.

"No! Damn it!" he shouted in frustration after sensing something was wrong.

Barain hesitantly run off.

And then here I am about to feel relieve only to come to the realization that I only scared him now and that he is confused was the reason for his retreat and that if he gain his composure, if he tried, he could realistically kill me.

And I felt time slowing down as I was at a lost on what to do and then an idea came to me but I dismissed it for being Impossible and then nothing else came to mind until I did what I though was Impossible.

Using tree editing I shaped one of the roots near him into a spear like design and launched it in a desperate attempt to stop him.

I didn't even consider hitting him but it did.

His leg was hit and he now couldn't and know I stared straight into his face filled with fear and disgust. Seeing this I remain frozen, even though I screamed that I would kill him and such that was just my anger getting the best of me I never really Intended to...

His leg wasn't that terribly wounded its just that he can't stand because of his excessive fear that he can't stand up.

"Yahh!" he let out a scream now starting to crawl away while facing and at this moment I had to make a choice.
