Day 67: I will keep this entry short. After having explained the basics of my Hatsu to Claire she used me as a fancy punching bag for my "training."
Day 68: looking at yesterday's log I must clarify, Claire decided to not just hear about my Hatsu but see it in action. I guess she is a kinesthetic learner, which somehow justified her beating me to a pulp. Though finally using my Hatsu in a fight has given me some insights into developing my fighting style. Before, my fighting style consisted of using my gun that I was a decent shot with and something that could barely be called hand-to-hand combat. There was also the footing and legwork I shoddily ripped from Gon during the Hunter Exams. The only problem was the movement style of a small child that has a completely different skill set and specialization than me. Well, the coming days are going to be filled with learning how to fight and mastery over my Hatsu.
Day 74: I have had my petty revenge! Using every trick in the book I have found myself capable of annoying the most stalwart of foes. Sure, doing so is going to make people want to kill me because I am an ass, but my Hatsu makes that more of a benefit. Regardless, seeing Claire get that frustrated has definitely been a nice reward after getting smacked around for almost a week now.
Day 86: I have been making strides in my progress, I have gotten a decent hold on my Hatsu and combat style. It revolves around anticipating and reacting to opponents' attacks by negating or redirecting them to my advantage. Hell, I even managed to do something akin to a double jump by blasting myself in another direction in mid-air. Currently, though I have been training Ryu as it is very similar to my Hatsu in the first place. As for the other Nen techniques or basics, Claire put me on self-study, due to the limited time we are together she only instilled up to an intermediate level in something before moving on to the next technique I need to learn. This has made me quite well-rounded in terms of Nen, dabbling in a bit of everything and having a Hatsu developed alongside learning to use it in combat.
Day 90: Claire just had me do a "final exam" to see if I had been making acceptable progress with my Hatsu, (I call bs because she already knew my mastery as we spar every day.) To do this she THREW ME OFF A CLIFF while telling me to have dinner prepared at the usual time! And while I am alive I am completely miserable down at the foot of the mountain we have been at for a month. I don't think I will make it back to the top for dinner so I guess Claire is on her own. I guess I'll try to get up as far as I can up the mountain today after writing this.
Day 91: I don't even think I can be phased by anything anymore, I made my way up to the top pretty quickly all things considered. I made the multi-day trip in one day (I think I am starting to see a theme here) only to arrive at the top and be told we were leaving the mountains today. Why we didn't do it yesterday? No clue. I guess it is my fault for not realizing that we stayed here for a long time and it makes sense we would be moving on soon.
Day 95: After our quick stay in that town between our connecting flights we made our way to our last destination for my apprenticeship. We were now both back on the Yorbian continent. These last ~30 days we will be going from town to town, city to city as we make our way to my final destination of Yorknew City. And now that we are in a moderate area in terms of weather, I can buy clothes that look nice instead of functional! Well, I'll make sure to get myself something nice in the coming days using my bank account that has a lovely amount of 0's in it.
Day 105: while we have been in the cities I cannot really do any sparing or train my Hatsu all that well. It has been kind of annoying but it has allowed me to go back to basics, and it will help in the long run. Though when I am not practicing the core four basic techniques I start training the advanced techniques I want to specialize in. Mostly Ryu, and En. though to get better at those two I need to get better at Ken and Gyo and by extension Ten and Ren. well, I am going to get a pizza because I am frankly tired of cooking everything.
Day 109: I saw my first movie today, Claire was referencing some sort of media I never heard of and flipped when she figured out I never watched any tv, movies, or read fictional stories. I guess the scope of my training increased… about the movie, it was alright? Not my cup of tea to be honest. (not that I like tea in the first place)
Day 115: besides the continuous Nen training I have been doing in the background, I began to learn about the underworld. Claire lectured me on how these things work and got me connected with some of her associates. It has been a slow process to learn all the ins and outs and etiquette for these types of places but could always be useful in the future. When we got back to the place we were staying we ended up watching a zombie film (how fitting).
Day 120: This is the end of my apprenticeship, though I doubt this is the last time I will see or talk to Claire. I mean I have her number on my phone so It isn't hard to contact her. Anyways, I am going to have to find some way to contact everyone. Though I'll leave that problem for future me! For now, I will relax at this nice little cafe I found.
