Still in shock, she had her head turned to the board as the teacher's voice seemed to have gotten louder in her hearing.
She tried taking in what the teacher was saying and yes, it was important as it was her first day in class, but she just couldn't comprehend a word. Thoughts of those red eyes clouded her mind.
Not only were those eyes intriguing, but they were also familiar in some way. Where had she seen such a pair of eyes before?.
She has seen purple, red, orange, yellow, blue, and green colors of eyeballs, but those were eyeballs not - pupils!. And if it must be pupils, they were blue or green. At least she'd seen blue pupils, the most beautiful she had ever looked upon.
Green?. Her female childhood friend who once lived in her kingdom had them. Why not these welcoming, peaceful colors?. Of all colors, why red?. Red always stood out from other colors as dangerous.
Not to talk of the way he looked at her. With such hatred, as though she was his arch-enemy.
Her eyes darted to look at the red-eyed boy who had gotten her interest and made her lose her focus.
He had his eyes back on the teacher and his right hand held the pen that danced on his jotter. He was so attentive as if a few minutes ago, he had not turned to look at her. So while she was 'basking' in her thoughts, his entire focus was on the teacher. Was this some kind of trick to get her distracted while he absorbs each word of the teacher?. If it was, then it worked.
The first period went on and Diva was finally able to immerse herself in the lectures.
The teacher, a male. was addressing the students on the topic; 'idiomatic expression' which had its roots in the English Language. Now, thanks to that boy that occupied her mind, she was not able to catch the first explanation of the topic. She found herself a bit confused.
Fortunately, the period ended with the next teacher entry almost immediately. It was a Biology class. It was a fast and interactive class as she saw the students, more than a few, answering the teacher's questions, but on the past topics and present.
From the last period, Diva had learned that they were already two weeks into the term. She had things to catch up with.
The day flew with each period being succeeded by another till it reached the lunch break.
As the bell rang, she could hear the shouts and screams of joyful students down the hallway. In her class even though the students, her classmates, tried to act mature and not scream like the junior students cause they were in the most senior class, she could hear them shriek in their heads and she had to close her eyes to reduce the severity of the noise.
As a matter of factly, it was the grumblings and complaints in their heads that made her lose her concentration in the last class.
Slowly, she saw everyone disperse from the class into the hallway, and then they were gone, heading to the cafeteria to have their fill.
Diva got up from her seat and arranged her books in her bag. If she does not want to get lost, she should probably join the last set of students out.
She increased her pace of arranging the books and as she got hold of the last one, it slipped and fell to the ground. She kept her bag on the chair and bent to pick it up but her hand ended up on the hand of another. Retracting her hand, she stood up and let the person hand her the book.
In front of her stood a girl in glasses and tied hair just like hers, and as Diva took the book from her with a smile on her face, she saw the girl adjust her glasses from the side.
'Hi. I am Hailey Augustine. Your seat mate'. The girl had a big smile on her face and she had to tap the desk that was close to Diva's to indicate the closeness. Diva noted that the smile was of shyness, but before she accepted the handshake that she had offered her, she read her thoughts. Better to be on the safe side.
Her thoughts and actions were of good intentions. They were synced.
' Diva Conrad. Nice to meet you '.
