Chereads / Rebirth: Epic of the Arcane Dragon / Chapter 36 - Back to Kunlon

Chapter 36 - Back to Kunlon

Satisfied with his gains, Cedrick dispersed his Shadow Death Knights and look at the people of Rebecca Church. They were silent as none of them were able to understand what just happened.

First they were in a presensce of a mythical dragon and then he resurrected the Abyssal Lion and corpse of a wolf that came out of no where as an undead that they did not recognized. They sensed omenous feeling from it as they sense the power of shadow, death, and darkness from it.

However they did not criticize him like they usually do like calling him an heretic or things like evil being as he was a dragon and they did not want forfeit their life for no reason. All of them instinctually knew they should not apply human common sense to a being surpassing a god.

Sensing Cedrick's gaze, all of them froze and started sweating profusely. Before Rin could speak behalf of the group, Cedrick spoke.

"Anyways, what did you come here for?"

Hearing Cedrick's question, Rin respectfully answered his question. Even just witnessing a partial of his prowess, she did not want to offend someone they can't handle as she cherished the lives of her companions.

"Umm, we are also planning to stay the night and camp around here. We wanted to ask for your understanding."

The place where Cedrick and the childrens were camping was a wide open area. Unlike the other areas that were filled to the brim with trees, the area they were in only had a bit of weed.

'Did they come in a middle of wilderness to say that? A person who is the Rebecca's Daughter?'

"I see."

Although he did not understand what they were thinking of not following the road and entering the wilderness with full of monsters with just the few of them. He just nodded.

Even if they were from Rebecca Church, he didn't want anything to do with them and tried to leave as he didn't like human nature even in his previous life making him a complete loner.

"Not that we have done our thing here, then farewell."

Cedrick vanished as he teleported back to their resting place with his apostles. Leaving the dazed Rin and the others. Laurence, Joross, and Ruzzel didn't dare to spoke of what just happened as they were more than satisfied with just witnessing Cedrick's prowess.

Cedrick and co, went to sleep and rest as they want to conserve energy wanting to continue their journey. As Cedrick was lying in bed, he fell into a deep thought.

'I have gained of lot of things in this endevour to Lubana. I don't regret a single thing even if I caused trouble around here.'

Cedrick looked at his notification window and gazed at the skills he gained here.

Sage Breathing Technique, Undefeated King Swordsmanship and Shadow King. He also gained three promising apostles, two Shadow Death Knights and a shadow army consisting of mages. Satisfied with his harvest, he then looked at his accumulated karma points.

[319,200 Karma Points.]

In Lugarix, the concept of karma was very important. It was a scoring system based on someone's achievements. The system provided rewards based on karma, and it was also used as a currency in the Karma Store.

Karma Store is a store available only to those who have achieved over 1,000,000 Karma. Karma points can also be called reputation as you possessed high Karma points, your reputation is also high as it symbolises your achievements in Lugarix.

Cedrick look at his karma points with an expressionless face. Even even he could see it was high, he also knew the reason for achieving this high amount as he had created hundreds of epic weapons and becoming a legend and a myth. He also didn't count the other things he had done before as he was lazy thinking about it.

Overall he was satisfied as he had only accumulated this karma in a small amount of time. He knows not just anyone can achieve what he had as they did not possess his cheat skills.

As drowsiness overtook him, he decided to rest for the night as he look foward what would happen to him in the future not knowing he would be the one to open the Karma Store in the shortest amount of time.

(Rin's POV)

Rebecca's Daughter is more than just an owner of one of the Rebecca Church's three divine relics. Rebecca's Daughter was the church's poster child. As a result, Rin was currently taking actions such as traveling throughout the world and listening to the perspectives and ideas of a varied set of people.

After taking a rest Rin began the carriage once more to listen, comforting, and blessing a big group of people in a village.

"Are you tired?"

"I'm a little exhausted."

Kane one of the paladin asked Rin worriedly. Rin gave a forced smile in response to Kane's question. She raised her two hands, as if expending the last of her last energy.

"However, as a devotee of Goddes of Light, I must follow Rebecca's instructions and always do my best. I can at least console folks, even if I can't do anything for them. My fatigue is insignificant."

"You will also have a high chance of being selected as the Pope if you keep like that."

"Sir Kane."

Kane laughed at Rin's rebuking tone.

"Fufufu, it seems that as I get older, I become less thoughtful."

"Stop teasing me."

"I apologize."

"But it is true that you will have a higher chance of being selected."

"I am not doing this because I want to become a Pope!"

"And that type of attitude makes you more suitable for the Pope role."

In a conversation, Rin couldn't beat Kane because the man had overcome adversity and knew how to be cunning. Rin pouted cutely and averted her gaze.

'She is still young.'

Her feelings were easy to see. He couldn't criticize her because she had spent her entire life in a tiny bubble. As a result, she needed to go on this journey to gain experience and correct her naive attitude.

'But compared to the current corrupted pope, she definitely fits the Pope role the most.'

Even as a Rebecca's Daughter, it did not mean that everyone in the Rebecca Church was dutiful and kind like Rin. For example, there were some people who made Kane wonder how the hell they managed to become part of the church like the pope. Compared to them, Rin was basically an angel. But she also had some flaws.

'She doesn't have tenacity.'

"After this trip is over, you will be returning to the Church again."

Kane said this out loud to test Rin. He clicked his tongue after seeing Rin's expression darken.

"I'm going to say it again, Lady Rin: being patient and nice isn't enough. As Rebecca's believers, we must not only comfort but also protect them. As a result, we need strong hearts."

"…I know."

Rin heard this many times before, and she nodded to show that she understood. However, her voice was tiny.

'It's not easy.'

Physical abilities could be strengthened by training like mad, but mental fortitude was much more complicated. Speaking further about this topic only served to stress Rin, so Kane switched to another topic.

"Now that I think about it, we were fortunate to witness a legendary dragon even he had polymorph."

"Ah!"

Memories flooded back to Rin. It was not an old memory, so it was easy for her to remember.

All of them were amazed as they were able to witness a dragon's ability in person even they didn't know how to explain but they already gave up on understanding what had happened.

They were still not on a level who could understand a transcedent species like dragons, gods and demons. They were just mortals who hasn't reached the status of a Legend.

"It's just a bit regretfull as we didn't witness another of his draconic magics as no one had been able to witness for maybe a thousand of years."

Rin said mischievously as she also want to see the power of an absolute species that cannot be explained by common sense to widen her horizon.

Kane sighed as he was the same, all of them were feeling the same but all of them simultaneously decided not to disclose any information about this to anyone afraid of facing a dragon's wrath as they were worried it would only anger the dragon from using it's name for fame.

Cedrick woke up from his slumber. The children also did the same as they instinctly sensed that their master has awaken. He checker the time in the system and it indicates 2:00 am.

Joross moved the firewood around and began humming after starting a fire. Laurence and Ruzzel also started to prepare a meal as Cedrick left some for breakfast that he didn't put back to his inventory.

After a while, all of them eat their breakfast with a merry atmosphere talking whatever they wanted. While Cedrick was munching his food, he spoke.

"As I have already experienced camping in the wild, We will use teleportation to get to our destination as I could see it would take us weeks before we reached Kunlon on our current pace."

Cedrick said as he glanced at the mini-map at the same. Hearing him, none of them objected as they were more than willing to follow him wherever he go and whatever he do. Contrary they wanted to experience being teleported as they also wanted to learn it from Cedrick himself as they can also use the power of space.

Finishing their meal, Cedrick placed all their things on the inventory as he teleported back to Kunlon. Cedrick and the children vanished without leaving any trace like they had never been there.

The children's mouth were opened as they saw the bustling scene of the Legendary City of Barbarians, Kunlon. Cedrick also noticed the change in the atmosphere unlike before. The barbarians who were moving around were walking as their feets were moving as the same time.

'It seems like they were instinctly marching.'

As soon as they saw Cedrick and the children, they stopped and saluted him with a serious faces but their eyes were telling they were happy seing him. They also paid respect to the children he brought back.

They immediately returned to what they were doing after saluting. Seing them, Cedrick mumbled.

"They have changed. They were moving at the same time and they were not rowdy like before. It seems like they have changed like a military soldier from earth..."

Before Cedrick could finish his thought, Saphira answered Cedrick.

{It is because of what information you gave Edward, Master. Following the routines, he slowly implanted that discipline and unity were important in the army.}

{It is just like you are witnessing right now. They now understand how lousy they were before and feeling ashamed for priding they were already warriors from it.}

Cedrick grasped the situation as he was glad hearing it from Saphira. He also wanted to see the training as he was interested on how they look on training and if ever he would saw the faces of despair of the barbarians.

Cedrick grinned as he look forward in seing their changes as he also planned to include the three children in the training regime. Suddenly all three shivered not knowing why as they felt cold sweat running on their backs.

The three were confused as they didn't know that they would undergo a hellish torture/training in a while. Cedrick strolled for a while and teleported into the royal palace. The guards saluted him after seing him and immediately reported to his superior. An attendant escorted Cedrick inside the palace as she also prepared something for the three children with him.

Seing they were about to enter a palace, Laurence talked on behalf of his brothers.

"Um, Master. Is it alright for us to be here? In a palace like this?"

The other two also nodded as they agreed with Laurence. Cedrick took a glance at them and replied.

"Just follow me. Don't worry about unnecessary things."

As they rested in the couch in the living room, the sound of a door being slammed was being heard. All four of them simultaneously turned their head and saw Claire with a happy expression and a teary eyes.
