Chapter 287 - Mysterious Hostility

[Margaret's POV]

I easily sidestepped Lillian's sharp claws, my splendid skirt even rippling in the air.

Lillian, whose strike had failed, was not as graceful or relaxed as I was.

She couldn't control her momentum, almost losing her balance and nearly crashing onto the garden's marble tiles. "Ah! Margaret, how dare you dodge? You won't escape my grasp today!"

I found her threat, unable to grasp the situation at hand, utterly amusing.

Glancing at her sideways, my face bore an expression of extreme sarcasm, "Why wouldn't I dodge? Did you think, with your mediocre fighting skills, you could actually get an advantage over me? Who gave you such confidence?"

Turning to face her, the sarcastic smile in my eyes faded away to be replaced by a cold scrutiny, "I don't know if you're genuinely insane or just venting your anger on me, but your brother's death was entirely his own doing—it's unrelated to anyone else."
