[Margaret's POV]

"But I really like the feeling of you protecting me, my brave baby! Thank you," Donald said, the tenderness in his wolfish eyes almost enough to drown me.

My tense and on-the-verge emotions were soothed, and after taking a deep breath, I replied wearily, "My dad was being too much just now; he should have curbed his bad temper a long time ago. Today, he certainly got a lesson."

Ignoring the changing expressions on Frantz and Nora's faces, I frowned and turned my thoughts to other matters.

Donald gently held my hand without saying anything to interrupt my train of thought, but he stood unwaveringly by my side all along.

"There's a lot about this situation that's still very strange. I think Elizabeth and Armstrong, who we've lost contact with, are probably not in any real danger," I said in a grave tone.

It seemed Donald had thought of something too; he simply looked at me with a soft smile and softly said, "Oh? Why do you say that? What's on your mind?"
