Chapter 1 - The Beginning Of A Journey

Oden, a small boy with dark blue hair and a scar on his right eye, was abused by his parents. He lived a terrible life as he was always bullied at school and it never got any better when he came home either. Oden only had one person who cared for him, his older brother Law. Law had dark brown hair and piercing, brown eyes. Law never had any hardships during school, in fact, he was a popular kid. He had many friends and was never once bullied, Oden respected him and was glad to have him as a brother.

One day, after being beaten by their parents, Law and Oden walked to school with cuts and bruises. On their way to school, the pair met an old man. The old man noticed their bruises and said, "It seems you guys had quite the fight."

Oden replied, "Yeah… kind of."

"Do you need help defending yourselves? If so, join my kendo class. It would help you immensely in your future endeavours."

"Why us?"

"I sense great potential in you boys. I think, with the right amount of training, you could do great things!"

Oden and Law gladly accepted, they would do anything to stay out of their home for a bit longer. After getting more info about the class, they said their goodbyes and continued their walk to school. At school Oden was tortured by his bullies, Law couldn't help him out as he was in a different area meant for older kids. "Look guys, he has bruises already. Even his parents beat him!" Said the bullies. This is what it was like for Oden everyday. After school, Oden and Law decided to go to the kendo class. After arriving, they were greeted by the same old man they had met earlier. The old man introduced himself as Yang, he would be Law and Oden's sensei.

For their first lesson they were to learn the ryu stance, a flexible stance that allows easy blocking and easy change into different techniques. While Law mastered the stance after only a few tries, Oden struggled immensely. Oden kept trying, trying and trying again but it never worked for him. Finally on his 60th attempt, Yang approved of his stance. Although Oden was very disappointed in himself, Yang admired his persistence and will to never give up. After Oden's success, Yang called the two brothers to him and said,

"Listen well, young ones. As I tell you the tale of Oda, the greatest swordsman."

"Who is that?" Asked Oden and Law simultaneously, both eager to hear the story.

"You shall find out, just listen to the story. 100 years ago, my friend, Oda, was sitting at a ramen stand. He was enjoying his food when the air suddenly heated. The temperature kept rising and rising until he heard screams. He looked outside and saw a being made of fire, it was about 100ft tall and was destroying the town. At once, Oda recognised it as the Flame Kami…
