"Thank you for finishing this on time." Virus said as he entered the clearing. "Now I won't miss my anime."
"Um…which anime is that if I may ask?" Amanda asked.
Everyone stared at her weirdly. Turns out she was a weirdo just like their handler.
"One Piece!" Virus said.
"That anime is still going on?" Sanji asked. He remembered his grandfather saying it was his favorite anime, and then, it had almost two thousand episodes.
"Yes! That's why it's such a masterpiece. The management of the anime has been handed from father to son since the beginning." Virus said with such passion that would put religious zealots to shame.
–Man I just want to return to Doctor Iris's bed.–
"Well, well, well. Looks like you haven't changed at all, David." Said a voice.
They all looked up to see a woman wearing a white gown and holding a wand. She was black, with golden hair and eyes. Anyone who didn't know this Hero was either a new born or blind and deaf.
Blessing. A cardinal threat level Hero. Considering her powers, it was a miracle she was even assigned a threat level. She had the ability to boost the powers of others, making her a purely support type Hero. But aside from her powers, she had so many weapons on her, that she could take an elite squad of Anti-powered personnels on equal footing.
On the other hand…
"David?" Troy asked.
"Yeah. David S15." Louisa replied like it explained everything. "Didn't you read his file?"
"I didn't." Well how could he? He had just had the best night of his life. Even now, he would give anything to get in that bed again.
"David Subject 15." Sanji said. "He was one of the recently released test subjects from the PRC."
PRC: Powered Research Center. It conducted experiments on powered individuals. It was recently abolished because of its 'inhumane' way of research. Hence, over a hundred test subjects were released. Most of them were born in the facility, while the others had been 'liberated' from their parents due to the dangers their abilities posed. Virus was one of them.
"His ability is to create viruses of any kind, depending on the environment and the situation." Sanji said.
"Woah. That's sick!" Troy was genuinely impressed.
"What do you want, Blessing?" Virus asked.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing." She replied as she landed on the ground with the grace of a feather. "Is that such a bad thing?"
"I've moved on. You should too."
Blessing became red and she pointed her wand at Virus. It was bad enough that she met him here. Now, a bunch of youngsters were witnessing their quarreling.
"What are you doing here?" Troy asked. With his experience, coupled with Virus's subtle hints and the way Blessing turned red…it wasn't hard to guess that this was a lover's quarrel. Yes. David S15 and Blessing were exes.
–As much as I'd like to know what the hell is going on, I'm tired as fuck.–
"I was dispatched here due to some anomaly. But I guess that was you guys?" Blessing said, grateful for the change of topic.
They all nodded.
"Ok. So my job here is done." Blessing said, turning to fly away rather dramatically.
"Wait!" David said, surprising everyone, including himself. "Isn't healing part of your power set? He needs help." He said, pointing at Troy.
"What? Don't worry about me. I'm fine." Troy said.
He was really fine. With enough rest, which was just a few minutes, he'd have enough energy left to mend the broken atoms in his body, healing himself in the process. But if someone healed him, that was not good.
Unlike his atomic manipulation which gave him the ability to mend his atoms, healing used the energy of the healer and the stamina of the one being healed. That meant that he would be barely able to move, leaving him in the arms of his team mates. And honestly, that was something he'd rather not do. But he didn't really have a choice anyway. If he healed himself, that would lead to questions he'd rather not answer. His display had already been impressive enough, adding self healing to the mix would make his soup of deception blow up in his face. Because of that damn machine that couldn't scan his ability, he had adjusted his plan. Now, everyone thought he had a power set. Gravity manipulation and superstrength and superspeed. That weird power combination would explain why his abilities couldn't be read.
Blessing knelt beside him and began her healing.
"I'm fine, really." Troy said.
"All the muscles in your arms are torn, and your bones are cracked."
His team mates gasped.
"Don't move." Blessing said. Everything connected now. She knew that a team of Heroes had been dispatched here to deal with the lindworms, but the phenomenons happening were too much to be natural, but turns out these kids were just super strong. She had no idea what someone would have gone through to end up in that state.
"All done." She said after a while.
Troy was underwhelmed. He flexed his muscles. He was healed alright, but his muscles seemed rusty and stuck. And worse, he felt weak. He knew that would be the result, but it was still way more uncomfortable than he imagined.
Blessing departed soon after, completely ignoring David.
"Let's go. I'm almost late for the anime."
