Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Derek woke up and checked his surroundings, it was very dark. Behind him he could see that same portal floating there and giving off a little light. The walls emitted a very dim light but it did not help that much. Even more importantly Derek could feel the danger in his bones and a smile quietly found its way to his lips.

'This… this is nice. And it's too real to be a trip right? Is this real?'

There was only one path from this room and Derek slowly followed it into the darkness, using his hearing to sense any possible sounds.

Up ahead he saw a bit of flickering light and tried to move as quietly as possible. When he turned the corner and looked inside, he saw a torch illuminating two disgusting green creatures. One was holding a torch and the other a dagger, they were walking toward Derek with careful steps. They were about 4 1/2 ft tall.

'They don't look friendly, actually they look quite weak, I wish I had my knife on me. Let's see what they do.'

Derek quietly stood up as they approached and he stayed in the narrow corridor in case they charged him.

"Hey"

The creatures looked startled and got into a fighting stance. Seeing only one person with no weapon, they smiled derisively.

"KWERAK!"

Both creatures charged him and Derek got ready to fight, using his fists. The first goblin swung its dagger at him while the other held its torch for light and gripped its dagger, ready to fight. But the passage could only fit one creature so it had to wait on its companion.

Derek grabbed the first creature's wrist as it swung at him and threw a punch at its face, the creature got flung back dropping its dagger right into Derek's hands.

"Haha thanks for the gift"

Derek went on the offensive and swiftly dealt with these weak creatures.

'That was exciting, finally something to make my blood boil again. Let's continue!'

Derek continued down the path, he decided not to use the torch for now since the darkness was to his advantage. This cave split into multiple paths and Derek slowly explored the entire place, killing creatures along the way. As he continued the amount of enemies and danger increased which is exactly what he was looking for. There were creatures with bows, swords, shields, and Derek killed them all.

Derek got lost many times in the winding caves but he eventually started figuring the place out. At last He found himself in front of a large door, Derek opened it and held his shield and sword up, ready for anything.

*CREEEAK*

The door slowly creaked open and inside was lit up with torches lining the wall. This cave was the biggest he saw and was about the size of an apartment but with no rooms. There was one green creature that was the size of a human wielding two swords. This time Derek would not get to surprise attack but he was not afraid, if anything his heart was beating in anticipation.

'He looks strong.'

With a fearless smile Derek charged the enemy. The boss creature prepared his stance and soon their swords clashed, the boss responding with his other sword which was blocked by Derek's shield.

'His hits are heavy.'

The two danced for a few minutes and Derek was cut countless times, clearly on the losing end.

'I can't beat him, unless… it's risky but I can't back down here!'

Derek went all in, smashing forward with his shield and swinging his blade with all his strength. The creature was surprised by the change in tactics but quickly responded, defending and counter attacking.

But this time Derek ignored his defenses and was stabbed in his abdomen. Now with the creatures swords occupied, one blocked by the shield and the other in Derek, he was able to swing right at the creature's neck.

The creature was too surprised to move out of the way and tumbled to the ground after having its neck slashed. It did not get back up and Derek smiled in victory, uncaring for his wounds.

'This. This is all I've ever wanted hahaha if only I could survive to fight again, but I'm pretty confident I'll bleed out before I reach the exit.'

Derick lay down next to the creature, expecting to die with it with satisfaction.
