Jared knew he should say something but he didn't. He wanted her to speak first, say anything.
Wasn't she the one who had been spitting out words to him that night? Where was that fire of that day? Where was that rage that she so much threw this way that time?
He could only see the strange serene look in her eyes. Far away and distant.
Did she really see him as an enemy?
"Baby, you're here already," her fiance pushed past him and moved towards her.
His presence seemed to have broken the trance she was in. He watched as she looked up at Derek and smiled widely, her face lighting up.
He hated it but his heart constricted at the sight. That was the bright smile she usually flashed his way when they hanged out.
He furrowed his eyebrows. He was acting like an obsessive ex-boyfriend.
