Chapter 12 - Chapter Twelve

LORRAINE'S POV

The guards could not dare to come close as they were scared of me killing myself.

Actually they didn't care if I was dead or alive. If not that they were given the order to keep me alive I would be dead by now. They did not dare to go against Talia's order.

I was only alive because of her as I was her other way of access.

"Don't......"

I Said suddenly as I started losing my balance and my eyes became heavy. I staggered before I kept my balance.

They wanted to use the opportunity to grab my hand but I was quick to stand and coordinated myself.

My eyes felt blurry as I struggled with myself to be strong. Suddenly the iron rod in my hand slipped from my hand as I fainted to the ground. The guards immediately rushed and took the rod away from me. I was so weak and far away from my reality. I could hear their voices echoing in my head. I felt a hand hold me up. Before I finally gave up to the darkness that engulfed me.

I woke up after some hours and I found out I had been brought back to my cell. It was almost evening as the weather had gone a bit darker. They brought me a meal and pushed it from the door as if it was meant for dogs. It had been so long since they gave me food so I rushed it as I was starving. I couldn't not remember since I had two meals in a day. I have become so thin as no meat was left on my body. It hurts me so badly finding myself in these circumstances and not being able to do anything about it as I know I'm not the type to sit and sulk.

"I'm making this promise to you, Alpha Norman; the day would come that you would pay for the crime you committed against me and my family and that day is soon."

I said bitterly as I held the iron bar of the door looking through the door of the cell.

At nightfall I sat down patiently as I waited for midnight to hear the wolf howl again. Actually I have missed the howling ever since the day I tried to escape and was put inside the isolated cell. I have not heard the howling. I slept off where I was waiting for midnight fall.

"I slept off......"

I said, as I snapped my eyes open.

"I hope I have not missed the howling."

I said to myself as I don't think I could live much longer without hearing it. The howling makes me feel that I still have hope. It gives warmth to my cold heart, and life to my dying self.

I quickly stood up and walked close to the iron window that was sealed and had never been open. I looked at it as if I could see through it.

"Where are you? Mr howling wolf. Where are you?"

I said as I finally gave up with the thoughts that I had missed it. I sluggishly walked back and lied down with my back on the ground while I stared at the ceiling.

"Howl........"

I quickly jerked my head up as I thought I heard a howl.

"Howl! Howl!!........"

I heard it again and I quickly stood up and ran back to the window. I rested my head on my arm that held the two straight rods that ran from each head of the window.

I started humming to the sound of his howl. I melted my heart just by hearing the howl. I felt he was longing to hear my hum.

I felt a warm liquid rush down my cheeks. I never knew I had been shedding tears. I was so happy to hear the strange boy's howl and did not realize it when I started crying. The more I tried to control my tears, the more it flowed uncontrollably.

My heart was so warmed and calmed that I sat by the window and did not realize I had slept off till morning until I woke up and found myself lying close to the window.

I was calm as I faced the wall towards the window with my back facing the door to my cell. My mind was occupied with the thoughts of finding myself outside this castle as a free girl. Thoughts of when this chain would leave my legs and let me walk freely.

I could hear footsteps coming towards my cell. I also heard when they reached my door but I never bothered turning back.

"Sir, you can choose from the slaves I have showed you. This one was the last one among the types you requested."

I heard their discussion but I ignored everything they were saying as if I never existed.

"Hey slave."

I heard the guard called. I turned around and I saw a young man around fifty years of age standing beside the guard. He looked at me and nodded his head.

"I will make a choice later."

I heard him say to the guard as they left. I thought he wanted me to satisfy his needs but I was surprised he never demanded for me as any one they showed me to would ask for me to be given to him either to satisfy him in bed or for entertainment.

The gaze on the man's face was different but I couldn't figure out what it was. My heart warmed up a bit at the sight of the man.

'If my father was alive he would be of the same age as this man. Maybe that was the reason I felt warm at his sight.'

I thought as the man reminded me of my father.

"Who am I to dream of having a father."

I said as I sat down on the floor waiting to be called to do one thing or the order for their guest but they never did.

'Maybe the man has chosen another.'

I thought as I remembered the man that came to my cell a while ago.

I heard the door of the cell open as I was about to sleep.

"Get out slave."

The guard said as he stood there waiting for me to come out.

"Get to the entertainment hall now!"

The guard said as I walked out of the cell. I saw many people sitting patiently listening to the music whole some slaves were dancing on the stage.

I could only recognize the slaves as I was asked to join them which I did. In a few minutes all eyes were on me. This was the first time dancing with group of slaves as I always dance alone.

Suddenly my eyes made contact with a familiar face staring at me with a smile formed on his face. I quickly averted my gaze to the side. My heart was beating so fast as I could feel the sincere gaze from the him.

Since I have been entertaining people in this castle I have never seen anyone give a smile. I always receive an evil smirk from people but this one was different and I couldn't explain it.

I was dancing as I also tried not to make any other eye contact with him as that would be considered rude for a slave to look at a high rank person straight to the face.

Just when I unconsciously looked up I saw his hand pointed at me with that same smile. I became anxious as I was asked to go to the man. Without hesitating I walked to him.

"What's your name.?

I heard the man ask.

".............."

I knitted my eyebrows and stared silent as I thought maybe I heard it wrong. This was the same man that reminded me of my father.

"I said,'' What's your name?"

I heard the man ask for the second time. I slowly looked up at him. No one has ever asked me my me since I entered this castle as a slave. I have lost my real name to a slave. Tears rolled down my eyes, flowing uncontrollably.

I opened my mouth but I couldn't find my voice.
