Clang! Clang! Clang! Sounds of two metal objects clashing together. Even if I'm a Demonoid, not a human, this is still deafening!
'Is blacksmithing this loud?!'
'No, of course not. Well, if it's normal steel that is. It is still loud but not this loud. However, we are using higher quality materials. If you know how loud tungsten steel is in blacksmithing then you can compare our materials right now to be at least 10 times louder than tungsten steel.'
'No wonder! And since I have more heightened senses, this is more painful!'
'You know you can just turn it off-'
'Do you think I wasn't trying to turn it off this entire time?!'
It's been three days ever since I gave Kai the materials for my sister's gift. I'm currently inside the smithery and was watching how things work. The reason was to just check up on the progress and to learn the process of blacksmithing by watching.
Of course, analysis is needed for this so I made my unique skill to analyze everything. Though, if I get a skill from doing this, I would disable it the moment I get it since I want to learn blacksmithing from scratch.
At first, everything was fine, and Kai didn't mind me looking as long as I don't bother him. Or it would be more accurate, he didn't care about me watching him. Also, the entire time this was going on, Aurelia keeps on complimenting everything he does which pissed me off since it is causing some mental straining since we are communicating through [Contract Communication], which is similar to [Thought Communication] with the obvious difference is that it only works on special beings that you have contracted with, like spirits.
However, the moment he started to use harder and more high-quality materials like Dragon Scales, it started to get painful since it is so loud. I told my unique skill to disable my hearing or lessen it somehow but it just said that it isn't possible for some reason so now I'm in this situation. Now, I could just leave the building so that my ears won't bleed but I wanted to watch everything.
It was bearable for the most part but now I don't know anymore. My body is very strong and my magic capabilities are higher than most in the empire and yet, I'm getting deaf from listening to blacksmithing?! Am I this weak when it comes to sound? Or am I just that sensitive to sound? Gosh, I want to not lis-
"Notice. You have successfully acquired [Noise Resistance
'Hey, don't tell me…'
"Negative. It wasn't-"
'You did, didn't you?! I know for a fact that something as disabling or lessening my hearing is as easy as pie but for some reason, you weren't able to do it?! You did it on purpose, didn't you?!'
"..."
'I'll take that as a yes then. Since when did you start rebelling to me that you will put me in harm?! Plus, the ranks were [Earl] and [Count]! It means this was loud enough for me to acquire them at quite high levels!'
"It was done to benefit the user-"
'Benefit me?! Yes, it does benefit me to acquire more [Resistances] but it doesn't mean I wouldn't get hurt! Have you considered how much pain I would be in and how hurt I would be?!'
"Answer. Emotions and alike are not considered in the analysis made."
Argh, how did I forget?! This is a skill, not a person. Of course, it wouldn't know emotions and stuff. It should still be able to calculate how hurt I would be in this situation but I guess it didn't manage to calculate how much exactly.
'Just! Don't do that next time. Please, tell me things before you do stuff like this because I don't like to do this kind of stuff!'
"...Understood."
'Hey, Tomo.'
'What?!'
'Couldn't you just use noise-canceling magic to protect yourself?'
'Do you think I know how to do that? Plus, all this noise is affecting my ability to think! Also, you say that but why didn't you do it yourself as well? You are literally a spirit capable of using every element and you have vast knowledge in magic so why didn't you do it to me then?!'
'Well… I thought you were fine since you looked fine… Plus, I was used to the sound ever since I was born that I forgot that most people are not used to it…'
'You have to be kidding me…'
So I can't rely on these two when stuff like this happens because one doesn't understand humans and human emotions to know what pain feels to others and the other is so used to painful stuff that it felt normal to them and forgets that others are not like them. This is going to screw me over in the future, I can feel it. Haah… at least I got new resistances because of it.
After a while, Kai started to assemble everything together and the staff is almost finished. Good, now I should get ready as well.
Both on the staff and the sword, there are a lot of small holes all over them that don't affect the quality of the weapons but it looks like a very weird design choice. Even Kai pointed it out to me. I explained that I needed those holes to slot something there and he just agreed since it doesn't really affect too much.
Now did I think about it, this staff consists of very powerful, expensive, and high-quality materials that no normal blacksmiths can get a hand on for their entire lives, not to mention that these materials are very hard to forge. And yet, Kai managed to make it in less than three days. No wonder he was called a very skilled blacksmith by Aurelia.
"Here you go, take it." He threw the staff to me and I quickly caught it and found out it was quite heavy. Not too heavy to cause any issues if I use it but I wonder if my sister can use it… Oh wait, the weight won't matter if I do this…
"Thanks."
"Don't need your gratitude. Also, take a look at the blade if you like it."
I unsheathed the sword out of the staff and was immediately mesmerized. A pale light-blue blade with a sharpness that looks like it can cut the frozen mountains in half. It was overwhelming, I have to try it out first.
"Can I try it out?"
"No."
"W-Why?!"
"Unless you want to destroy the entire capital then go ahead."
"What?" What is he talking about? Destroying the capital? By trying out the blade?
"The sword and staff are made with very powerful materials. From the Frost Essence to Dragon parts and Minotaur horns and so much more, you'd think that the sword would be at least that strong, right?"
"But isn't that just the durability though? That won't make-"
"It's not just the durability of it! Look here, dragon parts are considered very powerful and dangerous to use. In fact, a piece of dragon scale from a Lesser Dragon is enough to give a bit of protection because of the dense magicules inside of it. Not only did we use [Magicsteel] with hints of silver and bits of Adamantite, but we also added dragon scales and dragon bones as well. You think it will only affect the durability of the sword, not everything else?"
Now did I think about it, dragons are one of the strongest races in this world. I kind of forgot since I already killed three of them without any issues but yeah, they are powerful, which means their bodies should be powerful as well.
But there's no way that this sword would be able to destroy the capital, right? I mean, it shouldn't be that strong, right?
