Chapter 106 - Alberta's preparations! And Princess Adriana's worry.

On the western side of the Enosh continent the proud country of Alberta bordering on the woodlands between the Watanabe kingdom and the kingdom of Albanian.

The beautiful city of Alberta could be seen bustling with life, though, the citizens were extremely restless from the patrolling knights moving back and forth every so often.

News that the king of Alberta had declared war on the Zestril kingdom had already spread and there were no one who hadn't heard of the assassination attempt on the king's life not so long ago. So, when the king openly declared war, everyone could understand what was about to happened.

Fear, uncertainty, and wariness gradually began to fill the hearts of each citizen. While they had faith in the battle power of their own country it had been a very long time since Alberta had participate in a war.

And also... the feeling of fear of what would happen to them or their family if by the off chance that their side loses filled their minds with a sense of discomfort.

A loud rattling sound could be heard continuously as many horses drawn carriage could be seen making their way in and out of the city, knights dressed in plate armor could be seen carrying heavy weaponry.

The battle between the kingdom of Alberta and the kingdom of Zestril would be taking place in a desolate land located south, each knight had been making preparations for the upcoming battle, and even the members of the royal family had been busy dealing with the preparations.

Roughly two weeks from now is when they will march forwards in a southerly direction of the Deki forest. On the city entrance of the Alberta kingdom a young man could be seen there talking to the knights who were gathered. The young man was dressed in a blue robe that had many golden ornaments adorn on the robes.

"Your highness there isn't enough carriages to bring the leftover food for our travels."

A middle-aged man wearing knightly attire said as he went over to the young man who was currently giving orders to the others.

"I see... in that case could you go over to the royal palace and explain the situation to father?"

The young prince said, hearing his request the knight bowed his head as he replied.

"Understood."

Before heading back to the direction where the royal palace was located. The young prince watched his back with a somewhat exhausted face, though, despite the fatigue apparent on his well-ordered face it didn't ruin his handsome face.

His long shoulder length silver hair glittered under the light of the sun; his eyes was as blue as the deep ocean. Surrounding him was a peculiar aura that would make all others want to follow him not only for his charm but also his charismatic personality.

"Umm, your highness, are you okay? You haven't slept for three days now."

A young girl with short brown hair dressed in a maid attire said, glancing at him worriedly. In her hand was what appears to be a lunch box.

"Yes, I am fine please don't worry about me, lady Emma."

The first prince of the Alberta kingdom, Ryan Alberta said with a humble smile.

"No! I can't do that! Your highness please, I know that the preparations are important but, that's all the more reason why you need to take care of yourself! Otherwise, you'll be too tired when the time comes!"

Emma shouted. Seeing that first prince Ryan widen his eyes. Emma is usually timid so, seeing her raising her voice was truly surprising.

However, after the initial shock the first prince gently placed his hand against his mouth and let out a huff of laughter.

"Ah! P-Please forgive my earlier insolence, your highness! If you want my head for compensation then, please..."

Emma's white cheeks was dyed a bright crimson colour as she ducked her head in embarrassment. However, the first prince Ryan simply shook his head with a wry smile as he said in a gentle tone.

"No, there is no need for that, you were just worried about me. I am really grateful so; please would it be okay for me to eat the lunch you made?"

Ryan inquired.

"Y-Yes, of course."

Emma nodded her head with vigour as her lips were upturned into a faint smile. The two of them continued to look into each other's eyes for what seem like several minutes as the sounds of various carriage could be heard entering and leaving, while the sound of various muttering sounded from here and there.

But Emma who was lost looking into the beautiful blue coloured eyes of the first prince suddenly snaped out of her daze when she became aware of the situation she was in and blushed further before speaking up bashfully.

"Umm, y-your highness.... you can have your meal over here."

She said before suddenly grasping the hand of the prince, leading him towards the location where several carriages had yet to move.

***

Approximately one hour later Inside the royal palace of the kingdom of Alberta...

Clang~

The sound of metal clashing sounded inside the training grounds. Two figures could be seen facing each other.

A young female dressed in a beautiful battle attire with several ornaments as decorations. In each of her hands were two identical daggers as she clashed with the middle-aged man wearing plate armor.

"Hahaha! Good it seems the legends of you heroes weren't just some punny story after all, even though you've only been training for several weeks your battle sense has become rather sharp."

The knight said in a huff of laughter. He then closed the distance between them and swung his sword diagonally sideways. However, the black-haired female, Mona twisted her body dodging his attack.

She then spun before holding her dagger in her right hand as a torrent of wind was gathered from its tip, she then strikes at his torso with the dagger in her right hand.

"!!!"

Sensing the danger, the knight commander Matthew who holds the highest military position within the kingdom and was task of training the hero instantly reacted easily stopping her attack with the flat side of his sword.

But Mona wasn't done yet, while her right dagger was blocked by Matthew's sword, she promptly stabs at him using the dagger in her left hand.

A powerful blast of wind shot out before Matthew could react this time his body was blown away and sent flying backwards from the force. His body easily cleared thirty meters before he twisted his body midair to kill his momentum.

Though, before his body could hit the ground, he swung his sword releasing a slash of light towards Mona, even though he had held back as to not cause her too much damage it still had enough force to easily knock out a human in a single strike.

When Mona sensed the feeling of danger, she felt from the incoming attack her black eyes contracted slightly.

She gritted her teeth as she slowly drew for more power sleeping within her daggers, as though responding to her, her daggers released a bright glow as a powerful torrent of wind quickly gathered with Mona in the centre creating a barrier of wind.

In a split second the slash of light made contact with the wind barrier.

BOOM!!!....

A loud explosion occurs subsequently after as a cloud of thick smoke was rising filling the area where Mona had stood. First Princess Adriana's deep blue coloured eyes trembled as she watches the place where Mona previously stood from a safe distance.

For her, Mona was not only the hero but also... she was her friend and seeing that she took on such a terrifying attack even though it was greatly suppressed it caused her heart to squeeze tightly.

"Umm... father is this really, okay? Even if Mona is a hero, she is still a young girl in my age group."

Princess Adriana suddenly said her voice trembled from nervousness. The king who was standing by her side said nothing as he continued to stare at the place where Mona had stood, his eyes narrowing faintly it was unclear what he was thinking.

Seeing that her father had no intention of answering her question Adriana frowns while releasing a deep sigh quietly before once again turning her eyes back on the battlefield.

Soon the thick smoke covering the area where Mona had stood finally subsided. Making it possible for everyone to see the conditions of her body. Despite only having a few lights scratches she was actually in perfect condition.

The rotation force had reduced the power of the slash of light fired by Matthew. Seeing that she was fine Matthew's lips was curved upwards, as his eyes shone faintly. He then Braced his sword tightly before closing the distance between them once again.

Mona reflectively swung both her daggers crosswise intercepting his swing. The weaponed of the two were once again locked as they tried to overpower the other.

"Guh."

Mona's face grimace as she was easily pushed back and had to take three steps back due to the difference in physical strength, However, Matthew stepped forwards closing the gap between them swinging his sword vertically.

"Hah!"

Mona hurriedly threw the dagger in her right hand towards him, Matthew's eyes widen from the surprise attack and promptly shifted his head to the side, his right cheek was grazed by the dagger that was accelerated by the wind. If he was a second late, he would have lost an eye just now.

A small red line could be seen as blood slid down his cheek. However, a small smile was tug at his lips as though he was enjoying himself. He then dug his sword deep into the ground with a loud thud.

"Your melee combat had improved from when we first started a few weeks ago, as your teacher I'm very proud."

Matthew said happily, while wiping away the blood from his right cheek with his arm. Mona pant heavily as she wipes away the sweat from her forehead and sighed in relief.

There were many times she felt as though she was going to die but, something strange always happened at that moment. Her instinct became sharp, and her body moved subconsciously.

"No, I should thank you for taking time out of your work to training me, I'm sure you must be busy."

Mona said a faint smile tug on her lips. Mona had known for some time now that this country was going to war and while it would be a lie if she said that she wasn't worried she decided to support them from the side. While she had been training something like going to war was not something she honestly wanted to do.

Matthew smiled and was about to open his mouth when suddenly.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Your majesty there is an emergency!!"

A loud shout came from the entrance door.
