Chapter 1 - Chapter One

In the town of Farris, located on Davison and Raywick, was a shop that had many stellar reviews. It was an outstanding coffee shop called 'Coffee Shop' and with such a simple name you would think it would be basic, but it was far from simple. The shop was decorated like something out of an award-winning film and it was all done by one young lady.

A young lady who had just moved to Farris a few months ago and was already one of the most talked-about ladies here. If not for a wonderful coffee shop and great tasting drinks and food, then for her pretty appearance and harsh way of rejecting the town's fellas. She was known to be sweet, funny, and smart as well as she was known to have never accepted a proposal from anyone one who tried, and yes, that included the ladies as well.

This young lady was Daisy and she stood at 5'11 with neck length wavy hair. Her eyes were a dark drown but her hair was a bright drown. It was almost a golden brown when the sun reflected on it. She took on the body of slim but also thick as in her upper half held more of a fit view and if she flexed you could see muscles in her arms and her stomach held a pudge to it but not a lot. Her lower half was wide because of her hips and she had thighs that moved with every movement and her butt wasn't the biggest but not the smallest.

Daisy often wore half shirts or button-up loose shirts with shorts as she worked. When you saw her around town she always had on a dress of some sort. Since it never got too cold in Ferris Daisy didn't have many pants or sweats but when it rained she always wore the ones she did have. It was Daisy's confidence that drew people to like her and the way she let rude comments roll off her back like water made people envy her, but Daisy never noticed.

For all the success Daisy had come to have she never grew rude or conceded. She allowed herself to stay humble and open to everything around her. In fact, even those who had been rude or caused scenes in her coffee shop weren't banned. She always welcomed second chances and never turned away a customer. She would even make a lot of goods and give them to the town's orphanage and always tried to help gather gifts for Christmas for the kids. Daisy was like the picture of perfect and there wasn't a catch to her that could taint her image.

Currently, Daisy was walking around above her shop in her home. It was like a loft that connected down to her coffee shop and she found it to be very convenient. She liked waking up and not having to rush to a place farther away to start working. Daisy could take her time before work and always open on time every day. And at night she never had to worry about being safe outside because her home was only past a door and up a couple of stairs.

"Damn it!" Daisy hissed as she stumped her toe against the corner of a wall. You would think from how long she's lived here she wouldn't do that still but it happened like once a week and hurt just as bad each time.

"If I keep this up, I won't be walking for long," Daisy mumbled to herself as she limped to the kitchen to grab her keys and phone.

She placed her phone in her back pocket before holding her keys in her hand. She slipped on some baby doll shoes and left out the door, locking it behind her before quickly going down the steps and pushing unlocking the door there too. She opened the door and closed it behind her, making sure to lock it. Daisy was in the kitchen of her shop and had to leave out of the door, which led to behind the counter where she and her two other workers usually stayed.

Daisy traveled to the far end of the counter and unhooked the half-swinging door before going over to the front doors. She pulled out her keys and unlocked both glass doors before turning the sign over to say 'Open' with flowers all around it. It matched the theme of the coffee shop as there were plants everywhere and they were all well. Daisy took good care of them and made sure to water them every afternoon. Although sometimes kids would come in and ask if they could do it and she would let them and give them a free cake pop for helping out.

Daisy went back behind the counter and started brewing the five coffee machines she had. She had already ground up her coffee beans and placed them inside the night before. She would have ground up some more this afternoon just in case she ran into a big rush and needed to make more coffee. She always ended up needing to make more coffee most of the week and since each machine only did 4 pots it required her to always have backup grounds.

"Hey, hey!" Darius said as he stepped into the shop with a smile on his face. He was one of Daisy's workers and had been the first person she hired. He practically begged her for the job to help him pay off some of the college debt from the small college in town.

"Hey, Darius. How was your night?" Daisy asked as she worked on getting the register up and running.

Darius placed his things on a hook that was across the swinging door when you passed it. It worked out best that way since there were no cameras and her workers could always watch their stuff. Although of course there was one in the kitchen too Darius preferred placing his things there instead.

"I nearly pulled my hair out trying to finish a paper for my English professor, but then he said the assignment wouldn't count towards our grade because he didn't feel like grading them anymore. So it was optional to submit it but I had already signed away eight hours of my life to the paper and turned it in before he sent out that email. Needless to say, me and some brown liquor had a great date to relieve my anger," Darius finished as he leaned against the dining part of the counter.

Daisy laughed, "Is that even allowed?"

"I don't even know and I was too pissed to ask," Darius responded as a look of thought crossed his face.

"Maybe you can email the dean of the school or wait until he comes into the coffee shop?" Daisy offered up because Dean Hotchest came through the shop a few times a week and always got a strawberry cake with black coffee. Yes, Daisy remembered his order and she did the same with all her regulars.

"I think it'd be tacky to corner him when he's not working." Darius put out there and Daisy hummed in agreement just as someone else came into the shop.

"I absolutely hate driving," Kaily said as she sat at one of the stools instead of hanging her stuff up and getting behind the counter. Although that was normal for her since Kaily was always fifteen minutes early because she drove here from the edge of town.

"Did someone cut you off again?" Daisy asked as she counted the money in the register and made sure to add some to it just in case.

"Some old guy cut me off just to get in front of me and drive at the pace of a snail!" Kaily tossed her hands up in the air and let out a huff from her frustration.

There was only one road leading to and from the edge of town and if you were going into town you had to stay on the right. That means that the old guy had swerved over to the other lane before moving in front of her and that was beyond dangerous. Although it wasn't uncommon since very few people made their way out to the edge of town unless they were returning home.

"You should have rear-ended that dick," Darius said as he sat up as the sight of someone coming closer to the door appeared.

Kaily hopped up, "Next time I just might."

Kaily made her way behind the counter and into the kitchen as the door opened and someone walked in. Daisy stood ready at the register with a smile on her face as the female who entered looked around the shop in amazement. It was a common reaction from people who hadn't been to the shop before.

"Welcome to 'Coffee Shop'. How may we help you?" Daisy said, catching the woman's attention and making her come up to the register.

"Umm, can I get a large coffee with 3 creams and 4 sugars." The lady said as she stared at Daisy, eyes scanning her from head to toe in interest.

Daisy ignored her look, "Would that be all?"

The lady smiled, "Could I get your number too?"

Daisy could hear Darius laugh a bit as he worked on getting the order ready. It was not uncommon for people to ask Daisy for her number and to this day she still rejected them. The lady in front of her wouldn't be any different than the rest.

"Sorry, that's not available on the menu. If you look above us you can find a list of things we do offer though." Daisy responded with a smile as her hand gestured to the sign above the coffee machines that hung from the ceiling.

The lady laughed, "I'll take a bit of hurt with a blueberry muffin to go."

Daisy let out a little laugh, "It'll be right up."

And as Daisy turned to grab a muffin and warm it up, she didn't notice the lady watching her every movement in interest. In fact, even when Darius gave the lady her coffee she still didn't take her eyes off Daisy and Darius wondered if this lady would be different than all the people before.
