After navigating the darkness for mostly an hour, June and Phillip finally arrived at the spot where the mine shaft was buried. By then, June reached out a hand to Phillip and took the student through the rubble keeping everyone away from the strange room within. After a full three meters of collapsed debris, June and Phillip finally saw a rather familiar sight.
The chamber was filled with exorcism circles that were used in different ways to seal demons. However, unlike the ones Phillip was familiar with, the vessel chosen for this demon was nothing but a small hand-carved wooden pawn chess piece. It stood in the middle like every other vessel, but it had cracks on it. Black smoke was oozing from it as if the demon was beginning to escape.
June stared at it and didn't feel anything in particular. He couldn't even sense the demon residing inside the chess piece as if the seals were too strong for it to bleed. Either that or it was not there anymore.
