Shock and silence echoed in the bidding hall. The auctioneer left his mouth open as if forgetting his lines. The rooms overhead were all reserved with the VIPs of their auction hall. Not only didn't these VIPs bid outrageous prices, but they never bid on regular items. When the lights turned on in Room 1, the auctioneer knew that the red diamond now had a sure owner.
As for Stallis, he frowned. Someone was trying to take the diamond from him? Then again, since the number was not called by Prudence, he just tried to raise the price. He called: "28!"
"Room 1 calls 30!" The staff only had a smile. He knew the person making the bids from Room 1, so he was so sure that a talent agency owner wouldn't be able to outbid this person… unless they could run some spots in the Underground.
"…do I hear 32? Can you go 32 million?" The auctioneer gestured at Stallis's table as a normal thing, but the agency owner felt mocked.
