Chapter 78 - Boln Kingdom

The Boln Kingdom, a country located in the eastern region of Sun Land was declining at an alarming rate.

The nobles were corrupt, the people were suffering due to the high tax rates, and the nation was constantly being attacked by their neighbors.

What a wonderful nation to live in–Bullshit!

The only reason the Boln Kingdom was heading towards the dumps was because a natural forming holy land appeared within their borders overnight.

No one knew where the holy land came from.

Some say it fell from the sky, some claimed that it was the gods' way of saving the Boln Kingdom.

Either way, the Boln Kingdom was getting more threats in the past few months than they had since their founding year.

As for the guilds within the kingdom, most guilds have moved out while only a certain few have decided to stay and defend their motherland.

One of these guilds was called School, a 3rd rank Guild with a C rank Teacher as their guildmaster.

Despite the incoming threats from other countries and stronger guilds, the School guild continued to provide their support for the Boln Kingdom.

Be it helping the kingdom train their troops or to send rescue aid to the people, the School guild has done it all.

As for their guildmaster, Ryuda Yoshida did everything in his power to make sure that the Boln Kingdom did not fall as long as he was there.

The support type, Teacher class, allowed Ryuda to use support skills and spells to help the Boln Kingdom.

For example, Ryuda applied intermediate level Accelerated Growth spells on the newly recruited soldiers so that they could learn battle tactics and integrate into the army faster.

Ryuda also taught his methods to the kingdom's court mages, wishing that they could lend him a hand at carrying the Boln Kingdom to the next era.

But as time went on, Ryuda found out that his efforts were useless.

The young knights he had used magic to train have become drunk on their own false talent, thinking that without them, the kingdom would perish.

So instead of focusing on training their skills, the young knights decided to visit brothels and get wasted.

The court mages he taught had also deserted him and become the enemy kingdoms' court mages instead.

Talk about a 180.

So when a guild member handed him the reports, Ryuda felt his soul get crushed.

Was all his effort for naught? Was the Boln Kingdom going to fall because of his poor judgment?

Ryuda did not know.

He just kept on repeating these questions to himself as he stepped into a misty forest at the edge of the kingdom's borders.

This misty forest was the so-called natural holy land that appeared in the kingdom a few weeks ago.

By then, Ryuda realized that he was too weak to protect his home.

So he decided to visit the misty forest to see if he could grow stronger than he was now.

'If my current efforts are in vain, then I will protect the Boln Kingdom with newer, even better efforts.' Ryuda thought to himself as he balled his right hand into a fist and gripped it hard.

A week later…

Ryuda emerged from a thorny bush and arrived at a clearing.

His suit was ripped everywhere while there were cuts and gashes on his arms and face.

Ryuda was not having a good time.

Besides, his class was only a support type with no real combat abilities.

So Ryuda did his best to explore the misty forest without exposing himself to any danger.

It was just that the rose bush he had crawled through was riddled with thorns.

He felt that it was good enough to not get pricked to death.

"Alright, now that I've reached a clearing. I'm going to take a break. And it just so happens that there is a river nearby. Nice!" Ryuda patted himself to get rid of the leftover thorns before he started walking to the river nearby.

It was then that something shiny caught his eye.

Before he could react, something flew past his face and grazed him on the cheek.

"Ow!"

Taken aback, Ryuda's knees became weak and he fell backwards.

When he touched his right cheek, he found out that it was bleeding.

There was also a faint cut where the blood was pouring out.

"Just…what was that?" Ryuda's face paled significantly as he tried to remember what had just happened.

'Something sharp enough to graze my cheek…Was that a sword? Wait, why would there be a sword here in the first place? Has the enemy nations breached the Boln Kingdom's last line of defense and made their way here? That shouldn't be the case right?'

Ryuda was suddenly plagued by many questions as he tried to figure out whether the thing that flew past was a sword or not.

If it was a sword, he would have to put up his guard when traveling through this misty forest now.

It'd be bad if he was sleeping under a rock and got attacked by an enemy soldier.

And if it weren't a sword, he would still have to put up his guard because he could die without being able to see the attacks.

For a natural holy land like the misty forest, it wouldn't be weird if there were mutated beasts acting like guards for the misty forest.

All of a sudden, a voice broke the silence, asking, "Hey there, are you alright?"
