Chereads / Beast Tamer Harem In The Apocalypse / Chapter 9 - THE LIMB MANIAC

Chapter 9 - THE LIMB MANIAC

"Holy christ what the heck is that-" said Chloe with a somewhat of a curious look on her face too.

"That's clearly a pile of legs and arms!" yelled Jane as she got her head in after puking out the window.

"We arent going anywhere near that- Frank get us through some other route I don't care how long it takes-" I commanded as I turned around. The blood dripping through the top layer of the pile made me feel nauseous.

Imagining the people to whom those limbs belonged was scary.

"But Luke, there can be survivors!" Rim protested while making sure not to look at that pile.

"Like hell, there will be survivors! and even if there were, I ain't risking my limbs for a few side characters!" I yelled at her, as the sight of that heap, reminded me of the past I didn't want to remember.

"Side characters! is that what they are to you now!? Do you think you are some sort of protagonist here! There might be people there who could need our help!" Rim yelled back at me.

It was Jane who broke us apart "Rim, Luke stop! Luke's somewhat right, if that amount of people didn't survive- I don't think we have a chance-. Also, Luke, don't refer to people as side characters, please-" Jane said with a pleading face.

"Fine-" Rim and I both said at the same time.

Jane had only started going in reverse when Fluffy tugged my T-shirt to grab my attention.

"Whats up Fluffy?"

"Master~ nya~~ something smells nicee~ nyann~" She said with somewhat of a dazed look, her nose seemed to be twitching while there was drool hanging from her tiny lips

"Don't tell me- Fluffy do you like those things?" I asked her as I pointed at the heap of limbs.

"No master~~ nya~~ there is something else~~ and the smell is going stronger nyan~~" She said while sniffing the air as drool dripped down her mouth.

"Jane! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE AT TOP SPEED!!!" I screamed as I could sense something- adrenaline seemed to be seeping through my body, engaging the flight response- the fight wasn't even an option.

I didn't have any idea of what I had sensed but it clearly felt like it was something too deadly.

"What why? its qui-"

"JUST GO!"

Jane quieted realizing that I was serious. she hit the throttle with full force with the bus still going in reverse through the street.

She swung the wheel in style, to the left as it made the bus turn to the right.

She hit the brake and got out of reverse and hit the throttle again. But while we crossed the street we had just come out of, we saw a weird man, holding two large knives whose body seemed to have lost all its color and dried up, his skin seemed grey. He also had similar grey hair. The man almost seemed to be 7 feet tall, while also being as thin as a stick.

But when we looked at him carefully we realized that he wasn't holding two large knives-

His hands themselves were two large blades.

The moment he saw us, he cracked his neck and then gave us a creepy smile as we left him behind in his street.

"Holy moly- that was so cool! I can't believe a pathogen could even cause something like that- but it's certainly not impossible in any way." Chloe commented-

She was certainly giving me the mad scientist vibes.

"Fluffy- did that 'thing' smell good?"

"Don't call him a thing!" Rim called me out again.

"He's already dead so it's not like he would care anyway."

"Ugh! why can't you be a bit more sympathetic toward-"

"Because I need to ensure our survival first!"

Rim didn't argue any longer, she just went silent.

All of us were surprised on seeing that 'thing' but we had nothing to talk about it. There was just too much happening all at once. It was too much to process.

Frank guided Jane through a different way. Which was not very efficient but we were very far from the area of 'the limb maniac'

That name definitely had a reason for it.

When we reached Frank's home, we left the bus to Lui, Fluffy, Rim, Chloe, and Jane.

frank and I left to pick up some weaponry.

I also handed my p226 to Jane, for safety reasons. Jane didn't want the pistol, but I assured her that it was just in case of some worst-case scenario.

Jane nodded understandingly as Frank and I got off the bus.

As soon as we entered the house we were first greeted with antique firearms decorated everywhere. Antique rifles were hanging from the walls- there were antique pistols in glass cases and there were, what seemed to be shotguns lined up for barrel cleaning on the table.

"Did you know that the shotguns still fire?" Frank asked as he looked at me.
