Mirabel's POV
"Oh no!!, It's 7:20am already? I'm gonna be late on the first day of work" I stood up with an energy I didn't know I possessed and sauntered into the bathroom to do my morning routine. I hurriedly got dressed and applied light makeup. I kept on murmuring words of how to persuade my new boss for coming in late today of all days. Immediately I was done I dashed out of the house running like my life depended on my job.
I waited for some minutes before I could successfully secure a cab to my destination. "Thank God there's no traffic today" I said with relief. I got to my workplace at 8:14am. I didn't have the time to take a good look at the environment, I just rushed into the gate, and into the gigantic building. But when the door opened I was taken aback, it opened without me touching the handle, wow I have heard of this before but never really had the opportunity to experience it. I walked in and it closed on its own again. "Wow!!"
The place was so beautiful, like everything in this place was made of glass, I can even see my reflection on the floor, I continued in my daydream of how magnificent the building was until I bumped into a pillar, thereby waking me from my dreamy moment.
"Ouch!!, I didn't see that ".
The shocking thing I observed was there was no one in this building, I kept pondering on why no one was here at this time.
"That's odd, no one is here, or maybe they're having a general meeting or something ".
I kept walking till I came in front of two large doors, on top was labelled 'CONFERENCE ROOM'
"They might be in here, let me check it out"
I tried pushing it but it was locked.
" Seems like no one is around"
I kept moving from one office to another but all of them was locked. I sighed " What the hell is going on! I'm I that early? Is my clock not functioning?, But the company's gate was open, so that means someone is here".
Then a thought popped in my head,
'maybe I should ask the security or check the executive floor' .
But the security post is far from here, I settled to check the executive floor first. I took an elevator to the fifth floor, I got out and started walking, I continued checking till I got to the C.E.O's office. I wasn't sure if I should knock or just push it and that reminds me I haven't met the C.E.O before, I was interviewed in another branch. But I do hope he's nice. After much contemplation I knocked lightly on the door, but didn't get any reply, I knocked for the second time hoping someone would answer, but no response.
I summoned up the courage to open the door, not without glancing at my reflection on the glass beside the office.
