Alaris ran down the hill as fast as he could because he had very little time left.
The full moon shone its light and illuminated his path making it easier for him to move through the thick vegetation.
He glanced at the moon and noticed that a black ring was slightly around it.
He had to make it in time before the black patch completely covered the moon.
Today he would take responsibility and do fulfill his purpose to his people.
He had always avoided this day even though he knew that it was awaiting him.
He tripped on a stone and rolled but he got up and kept on with the journey.
He was not even sure if he would find her at her house because after all the horrible things he had said to her there was a big possibility that she had already left.
She was his last hope of redemption and failing to reach her this time would seal his fate to eternal doom.
He was already panting from all the struggling he had gone through to get away from those monsters.
Only if he had listened to her sooner all this would have been avoided.
He finally made it through the forest and arrived at the town she was staying in.
His vision started to get blurry as he was close to falling unconscious.
No. He could not afford to fall unconscious at that moment.
He had a very important task to fulfill and it required all his strength.
He staggered as he made his way to her door. He knocked on the door but no one answered.
" Ambrosia! Open the door it's Alaris " still no answer.
He knocked again but there was no response. 'That's it I am already late ' he thought.
He could not even blame her. ' Did you expect her to stay here waiting for you after how you treated her?' he said in his head.
He wanted to go back but he was already drained of his strength.
Darkness started surrounding him as he slowly drifted to unconsciousness.
He heard the door open before drowning in the darkness around him.
He opened his eyes a few minutes later and saw Ambrosia staring at him with her beautiful green eyes.
" You are finally awake" she said with a sigh. She offered him a few potions which he took.
Only after he had regained his energy she seemed to remember that she was supposed to be angry with him.
" Why are you here. I thought I had made myself clear?" she asked in irritation.
Alaris coughed before finally turning to address her.
" I have finally decided to join you in your mission" he said faintly.
Ambrosia looked at him and a soft chuckle escaped her lips.
" If you have decided to help me out of pity you can keep it for yourself. I no longer need your help" she said with a serious look on her face.
Alaris felt a sting in his heart when he heard her words. He was to blame for all of this.
He was the one who turned her away when she came asking for his help.
It was only natural for her to say so at this point because his actions had hurt her.
" I want to rectify my mistakes. I need your help so that I can find my powers" he responded.
Ambrosia's eyes filled with sadness when she heard him.
" So you only came to me because you couldn't find your powers?" she asked sadly.
" No that's not the case. I need you to help me find my abilities so I can aid you in your mission" he tried to explain.
" Then after helping you you will abandon me as you always does " tears threatened to come out of her eyes.
Alaris walked to her and wiped off the tears that had already started flowing down her cheeks.
" I will never do that to you again. I promise you" said Alaris.
Ambrosia embraced him and he ran his arms around her.
" We should hurry. The monsters will be awakening soon " She said pulling away from his warm embrace.
She took a few potions with her and led the way with Alaris trailing behind her.
The duo made their way through the forest until they came at a spot where the moonlight shone brightly at them.
" Are you sure this is what you want to do. There is still time to back out if you are unsure" she inquired.
Alaris held his ground his ground and said that he was sure of his decision.
He lay on the ground and she pulled out a dagger.
He closed his eyes and waited for it to Pierce his heart.
Ambrosia held the dagger in her hand and waited for the black ring to start covering the moon.
When it started to turn completely dark she dropped her hands and the dagger made its way through Alaris chest right to his heart.
A wide gasp escaped his mouth and he shot open his eyes which were glowing in a lilac colour.
She cut her thumb and dropped seven drops of her blood on his wound.
A bright light appeared as the dagger disintegrated and got assimilated into his body. The wound closed immediately.
She waited for his heart to start beating but nothing happened.
' Oh my God! What's happening' she panicked.
No he couldn't die just like that. Something was wrong somewhere but he was not dead.
Soon the darkness that had covered the moon cleared but Alaris had not woken up yet.
Ambrosia felt like wailing when he failed to respond. When she had given up completely she saw his eyes open but this time they were completely dark.
He was battling with the darkness in him. A weak smile formed on her face when she realized he was not dead.
But it was still bad news because if the darkness took over then a monster would be born.
Her thoughts were interrupted by some movement she felt in the forest.
Her nightmare had finally turned real. The smell of blood filled the air.
Her only hope was lying on the ground unconscious.
She felt the beast getting nearer with each passing second.
Alaris shut his eyes again. 'oh no not again ' fate was really against her today.
She bent down and kissed him on his forehead. " Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you" she promised and placed a kiss on his lips.
She turned her attention and began waiting for the vile creature to show itself.
She pulled out the two daggers from her shoes and held them firmly.
Finally she could see the beast from a far. 'What the...' she cursed in her mind.
This was not the normal monster she was used to fighting.
This was a shape shifting beast that always prevented an evolution from occuring.
She could now find an explanation to the condition of Alaris.
This was the same beast that killed her mother years ago.
She smiled bitterly at the thought that mother and daughter shared the same fate.
Finally the creature made its way to the opening.
When the creature of darkness prepared to finish her off all she could do was say her last prayer.
She looked at Alaris and swore that no harm would befall him.
She accepted her fate of not coming out alive. No one had ever made it from the hands of a creature of hell and neither would she turn out different.
She took a deep sigh held her daggers and prepared to fight till the last drop of her blood.
