Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Drenched -Part 2

He opened the door slowly and walked in silently and stealthily, going around the apartment watching out for anything or anyone rather, still fuming, the noise still continued. Getting close to a dimly lit room, he heard some voices in there, as he went closer to the room to listen in on the dialogue the people were having, he failed to notice the small vase close to his hand he had previously put on the desk, taking a step closer, the vase fell down and broke to pieces. With the sudden sound of an object breaking, the other room turned silent for some minutes "We're done here" he heard someone say in a whisper, "Let's get out of here" came another scrawny voice.

Wondering what was going on, he went to the room to find nobody inside, he looked back and forth to confirm, he walked around to check on the whole place, and reaching the bedroom, he found someone lying dead on the floor with a small pool of blood around the person's head, seeing this he was shocked and decided to check the building for any other thing that was probably left behind by the people who carried out this gruesome act, he found some claw marks and scratches on different parts of the walls. When he got bored, he decided to head out and back to his place, he went out of the building and sat down and thought about what he saw inside the house.

Shortly, sirens could be heard as the police had been informed, he turned his head to the direction the sound was coming from and he saw two cars coming in the distance, he sat there and waited for them and as expected, they stopped in front of the building. He watched the vehicles come to a stop and two men came down from the first car, one of them was short and had a mustache on his face, the other one was a bit taller than the first one, he had a goatee at the base of his jawline, looking at them you could see the stark differences between the two of them, it was either he was too tall or his co-worker was too short for him. "Hey" said the shorter one to Greg, "Are you the one who called us here?" he asked with a voice which came out strong. "No," came the band reply from Greg, "But whoever did, did a very good job" he continued "Cause there's a dead person in there" he said only to receive a look from the short man who had come to stand in front of him.

"Really" asked the man in surprise, "Did you hear that?" he said as he turned to face his colleague who stood there with him with a small note pad in hand taking everything Greg was reporting, he received a nod and "You're going to have to come with us" said the taller one, Greg stared at him with one brow raised with no expression visible on his face "Why?" he asked, "We have some more questions we would like to ask you at the station" said the man "Nah, I don't think so" he said as he headed back to his apartment, the two men just stood and watched him leave with not another word then "Marcel" called the taller one to the shorter one who was on his way to meet the other officers who came with them to the crime-scene to give them orders on what to do "Michael" he said to one of them, "Get in there,'…gesturing his hands towards the house. 'we just go info that there's a body in there" he continued, "Marcel" he heard someone call his name and then turned to see his colleague coming to where he was with a worried look on his face.

"What's up Perkins?" Marcel asked his friend, "That guy'…. he said with a countenance filled with concern "I don't trust him" came the truth from his friend, "Why?" he asked in uncertainty, "He seems a bit out of sorts" Perkins said still with worry on his face "He isn't that bad, you know" Marcel said to him as he watched the other men carried the body into the ambulance that was alerted the moment they heard what happened, "Do you know what he's capable of?" Perkins asked, his tone rising. "I saw him this afternoon at the restaurant I went to have lunch today,' he said a sigh escaping his lips 'he came and caused a ruckus" hearing this Marcel looked at him "He beat up a man without even trying, and impaled him on the door with little to no effort". "Now tell me, what do you think about that?" Marcel who was listening to him, stood there looking at him speechless, "Maybe the guy brought it on himself" came the words from Marcel who was thinking about what he just heard. Greg entered and went straight to his bedroom and didn't bother to even remove the robe he was in and dived on the bed ''Finally, some peace and quiet' He thought to himself and shortly drifted off to sleep.

In the morning he woke up ready for another wonderful day as many would call it, but there was nothing wonderful about any day to Greg since he didn't have any friends as a result of him being an introvert, he didn't worry about mundane things which were often termed useless by him and didn't care about anything. He had his breakfast once again in solitude, savoring every bite he took, when he was done, he picked up his bags and headed off to school. Heading out, he saw a cab come to a stop just a few feet away in front of the porch outside his courtyard, he involuntarily waved to signal the driver to wait for him as he went down the stairs, He reached the car in no time and opened the door and "Good morning" came the voice of the driver "Where would you like to go today?" said the driver coyly with a certain amount of enthusiasm which almost got Greg motivated to start a conversation, but he discarded that foul thought "Take me to my place of work", this made the driver turn his head, looking at Greg with one brow raised "Where exactly" asked the driver, and this got replied with an exhausted sigh coming from Greg. Shaking his head disapprovingly "You know exactly where I want to go. Stop stalling, you're going to make me late" said Greg with an expressionless face UGH humans he thought to himself, "Hmmm, could you please refresh my memory, I seem to have forgotten." Said the driver to Greg acting as though he was oblivious of what Greg was speaking of, when he saw no response was given he took hold of the keys and turned on the ignition and the car received life and began to move slowly and steadily, gradually moving up a notch and begun moving fast.

Reaching the school grounds, the car came to stop in front of a magnificent building which stood high and supported with mighty pillars at the front of the building and around it. He came out of the car and began to leave "HEY!" shouted the driver "Get back here, you haven't paid me for the ride" he continued, Greg turned to see an angry looking man coming out of the car and heading towards him, What's his deal, how could someone get angry for not being paid a very miserable amount of money, humans were one of the creatures which was a bit out of sorts, their ways of dealing with matters were somewhat strange Greg thought to himself as the man approached him. "You're one in a bunch, you know" said Greg to the man while handing him the money.

Turning around to go to his class and start his day's work, he saw the school swarm with people going about their day, students all over the place talking with their friends or either running so that they could make it in time for their classes, teachers walking around like they were in a hurry. Walking past them sequentially, he took in a sharp breath and exhaled in composure, he reached the entrance of the building and stood for a while facing the crowd that was behind him, looking intently at everyone for some minutes before he finally went inside, he walked past some teachers, exchanging good-nature remarks with some of them who came to pass by him.

When he came closer to his class, sounds of kids shouting and screaming could be heard, "Bill" came a female voice from one of the students which resounded with a hint of anger, "What's wrong with you" the voice said again, while laughter followed immediately after, "Hahaha" came a hoarse voice which was none other than Bill's as he ran trying to keep a good distance between him and his chaser "Bill, stop, and return my notebook" the girl said with her pitch going up a notch "Why don't you come over and make me" Bill retorted back with laughter interfering with his speech, Greg stood in front of the door and watched as this was going on, children he thought to himself as he silently slipped into the classroom without anyone noticing his presence.

He took to sit down on the chair behind his desk as he dropped the briefcase that held his teaching tools on his desk, he starred at each and every one of them keenly and silently, he decided to let them have their fun, while he settled in. When he was done, the class was still energetic and he decided to join in "Bill, take your seat" came as a whisper in the ears off the young lad whose name was Bill who was across the room. Hearing this, Bill got a bit taken aback by this strange voice because the voice didn't sound familiar to him, he stopped in his tracks and stood, he looked at everyone present in the room and it was only then that he discovered that their teacher had come in. He looked at Greg and Greg did the same and all of a sudden, he saw something flash across their teacher's eyes, it was too quick to be noticed. "Take your seat" the voice came again, he this had Bill stare at him to check if it was his teacher who was speaking to him only to see an expressionless face stare at him, "Take your seat Bill, and stop teasing Renee, return her notebook to her, NOW!" came the voice again in a sharp whisper.

This made him shiver a bit and he slowly walked to where the girl stood with anger evident in her eyes for him making a fun of her in front of the whole class. Finally, Bill gave Renee her notebook and greeted his teacher as he took his seat at the back of the class making everyone in the class turn their heads to find their teacher standing in front of the board starring at them with eyes that looked lost, he offered them a warm smile "Good morning students" said Greg enthusiastically and "Good morning Master Greg" the class echoed with mirth in unison. "How is everyone today?" he continued, referring to no one in particular to receive another heartfelt chorus "Were all fine and you" He turned around to face the board, picking up a piece of chalk to write something on the board, he turned to face the class to ask "What do you see on the board up here" as murmuring voices of students who were indifferent when it came to learning or either when he was the one taking the class, he cleared his throat loudly to gain the attention of his students.

Silence swept the classroom as they all eventually turned their heads to face the board at the front of the class, seeing them quiet down, he began the class lesson. He went on and on teaching them about the Periodic Table, the first twenty elements and the groups they all belong to, consecutively, taking his time to explain every detail to them, ensuring that his students understood what he was teaching, asking them questions every few minutes as he taught them. "Elements in the same group have chemical similarity, because, they have the same number of outermost electrons" Greg said as he faced the students. "Such elements are said to be in the same family of elements" he continued, watching everyone in the hall scribble notes with their pen on their notebooks.

Sounds of whispers could be heard from the far end of the classroom as Bill sat with his notebook on his desk "Jose" he whispered his friend's name as silently as he could only to be ignored satirically, "Hey, I'm talking to you, can't you hear me?" he whispered violently as he poked at his friend sitting in front of him with the tip of his pen, when he didn't receive an answer " I have something important to tell you, and you're playing deaf?" he asked still whispering "Can't you see we're in the middle of a lesson?" came the sharp reply from Jose, who was slightly irritated by the childishness Bill exuded while learning in class "What's so important that you have to disturb my learning time?" he said as he turned his head to face him with an expression of disapproval on his face. Bill stared at him in surprise as hi lips parted slightly as a reaction to what Jose just said to him, humph look who's talking taught Bill to himself "Like you were ever serious with your schoolwork" he replied mockingly to see Jose shake his head after hearing what he just said.

"Bill" called Greg from where he stood "Sit up straight" he said firmly as he looked into his eyes "and no more side talks from you till the end of the class, understood?" Greg said with a note of conclusiveness in his voice as he starred into Bill's eyes with no expression on his face "Yes sir" he replied reluctantly and wondered how his teacher knew he was talking, because, he subtly watched everyone in the class as he was whispering, whispering!, the class went on for about an hour with Greg making gestures with his hands across the board "Well, that'll be all for today" he said as a sigh escaped his lips, closing the marker in his hand with the cap, "We'll be getting on a new topic by next week"…looking at them keenly with a smile on his face…"Class dismissed" he said and the students sluggishly picked up their belongings and went out of the class, one by one.

He watched them move out of the class "Bill" he called, "A word?" he said sternly as he watched Bill approach the door, Bill came to stand in front of him
