"What? What happened?" Aidan asked.
Maninsov shook his head. "Don't worry about it."
How could he not worry about it? This man was clearly about to kill someone with a pair of daggers just earlier, and it scared him. Was this place in danger? Did he have to prepare for an attack? Was the school in this world experienced frequent attacks? The other students listened to the teacher peacefully, so he was not sure. He had so many questions because of Maninsov's action just now. But since Maninsov said not to worry about it, then he would not question him again.
Maninsov put his daggers back in his coat. "Anyway, what would you do after school?"
"I don't have anything planned. I just got enrolled. Maybe I would read some books in my room."
"Why don't you join me in the training field? Instructor Dregard Bunti will give some lecture and sparring sessions today."
"When?"
"This afternoon."
"Alright, I'll join you."
Aidan smiled. This will be a good opportunity for him to see how people fought. He had seen the students fight a doomhound before, but he couldn't watch them in detail at that time. Besides, he could test his ability and compare his strength to others.
[Knockout punch]
Lv. 1 [Knockout punch]! Concentrating energy on your fist and striking at the target's head will increase the chance to make the target unconscious by 15% and dealing 120% physical damage to the target. Note: This chance is relative to the user's strength compared with the target.
Aidan read the text on the transparent blue screen panel. This ability was still level one since he knock out that baby popodactyl bird. He wanted to level it up on the training field today. If he succeed, then his chance of knocking people out would increase, and his safety would be guaranteed. Other than that, he also wanted to learn more skills before he go to the training field, that way he could level up a lot of skills in one go.
"Where is your room?" Maninsov asked.
"My room number is 39."
Maninsov raised both of his eyebrows. "Well, that's convenient. My room number is 40. We're neighbors."
"That's great. That way we can go to the training field together. To be honest, I don't know where the training field is."
"No problem. Maybe I'll show you around after the training session end. How's that sound?"
"That sounds good."
"Good. I'll knock on your door when we're ready to go. You can read some books while you wait. And I think we should stop talking now because Mr. Strart has been looking at us a couple of times."
Aidan giggled and smile apologetically towards the teacher. Strart looked at him with a smile and a book in his hand. Never had he seen a teacher as nice as this. The school would be a comfortable place if there were more teachers like him.
Strart continued his lecture and averted his gaze towards the other students. Calling and pointing towards a creature with a body of a human size grassy mountain. The teacher asked him a question, and a Cercis flower sprouted on the top of his head: a purple flower smaller than the size of Aidan's palm. Immediately, the creature answered, and Strart praised him, which made the flower on top of his head spurt out some light purple pollen that dispersed around the classroom.
Close to that small mountain creature, a few female humanoid flower creatures took out a thick black cloth and put it on top of their head like they were protecting themself from rain. A few pollen landed on the black cloth and they carefully remove the pollen with disgust.
"Cerien. What did I tell you about spreading your pollen in public facilities?"
Cerien, the human size mountain creature, made a rock scraping against rock noise as he bowed. "I'm sorry Mr. Strart."
"Tell the ladies how sorry you are."
Cerien bowed towards the humanoid flower creatures. "I'm sorry, ladies."
They gave him a side glance before sitting down and writing on their note. Cerien ran his grass covered stone hand on his head and sat down. The flower on top of his head sunk back into his body. Following it, the green grass on his rocky skin submerged. A human that sat beside him patted his shoulder and comforted him, which made him smile.
"Well, that's all for today. Make sure to take care of your body when you study. Especially you Mr. Gomon. If you felt your obsessive neurosis is worsening, I hope you stop tinkering with your invention and drink some tea with me. Before I forgot, I meant to tell you that the school is willing to fund your wingless aircraft project with the condition that you take care of your health," Strart said. "And with that, my lecture is finished. You all can leave now."
"Thank you, Mr. Strart."
"Thank you, Sir."
"Thank you, teacher Strart."
The students stood and packed their belongings before they leave the classroom.
"Let's go," Maninsov said.
Aidan nodded and walked up the stairs to leave the classroom with him. Following the crowd, they make their way towards their dorm. The students talked among themself, discussing the lecture earlier. Some of them talked about their crush. It was good to know that in a world filled with weirdness, there was some familiarity.
"Where are you from?" Maninsov asked as they walked.
"I'm sure you wouldn't know, but I came from earth, specifically, district 19 of terra."
"You're right. I don't know about kingdom earth or district 19 of terra. It's not on Chaebavand continent, right?"
It's not on this planet, Aidan thought. Did they bring me to a different planet? Considering the number of planets in the newfound galaxy. Those billionaires might actually put me on a different planet. Well, in this situation, he should not break the fourth wall and just act like this place was a true fantasy world. Not a hard thing to do, since all the magical creatures and events had almost made him forget about his reality.
"No, it's not on this continent."
"I never went outside the continent before. How is it like in your area?"
"Well, we certainly don't have human size mountain creatures spurting pollen in the classroom."
"Hey, that's racist!" a voice came from behind.
Walking tall and heavy, the human mountain approached Aidan with a human beside him. The creature didn't wear anything, yet it felt natural that way. The grass on his skin grew back, looking lush and fresh, with a few small flowers swaying in between. It seemed he had forgotten about the accident.
With the body of a bodybuilder on steroids and rocks as skin and muscle, Cerien frowned with his stiff forehead as he got closer. When he arrived in front of Aidan, the creature looked down and stared. "I don't care where you came from. But here in Bleassephere, we don't talk about other races like that. There might not be the term for it in your area so I'm going to tell you. It's called tolerance, and you are going to need a lot of it if you want to walk around here."
"You're right. I apologize." Aidan bowed the same way Cerien apologized to the ladies.
Maninsov rounded a hand around Aidan's shoulder. "Don't be harsh on him, Cerien. He just got here. Besides, I'll teach him some things later so he'll be a cultured man of Bleassephere."
Cerien snorted and walked away with his human friend.
"He's right. I shouldn't have tried to be funny by mocking him."
Maninsov laughed. "It's fine. Don't think too much about it. Everyone makes some mistakes on their first day. Let's talk about your earth and district 19. What's interesting there?" He still had his hand on Aidan's shoulder as they walked.
"Nothing is particularly interesting about our society, maybe except our technology."
"We also have technology here in Bleassephere. Believe it or not, the best scientist and tinkerers are in here. Together they make the best medicine and tools for everyone."
"What kind of technology do you have?" Aidan asked.
"Household, industrial, transportation, communication, and many more. Do you know the crystal on your study desk? That is called Eelball and they only need to absorb some eels light and you can shake it to make it glow. That way we don't need to burn torches anymore."
"We have something like that too. But we also use light to power all of our technology."
"It sounds like your place is a lot more technologically advanced than we are. Using lights as energy is the same as having unlimited power. We still need to use fate energy to power our technology. But someday I believe Bleassephere could use light to power the other technology too. Or maybe we should recommend the school to send some students to earth so they can learn. That said, how did you end up on this continent?"
"I don't know. When I woke up, I fell from the sky. The vice-dean saved me and brought me here."
"It must be those devil cults again. They always pray in the wrong place. And look at that, we have arrived."
39, the sign read on the door. Beside it, a few meters away, was Maninsov's room. The door and everything else looked the same except the sign that read 40. There were countless doors across the hall with their own number in order. Some students entered their room after saying goodbyes to their friends. Ready to take some rest after long hours of lecture.
"See you later, Maninsov. It was nice to have someone I could talk to on the first day of school."
Maninsov laughed. "Don't worry about it. Later, I could introduce you to my friends in the training field. They didn't come to the lecture today, that's why you didn't see them."
"Alright."
"See you later, Aidan."
Aidan entered his room and jumped on his bed. He stretched his back while prowling before he fumbled and rolled around. The bed was a man's best friend. No matter how tired you are, it would always be there for you. He looked at the wooden ceiling of his room.
Today, he had learned a lot. But knowledge was merely an illusion of capability. Only with practical skills and experience could someone be truly useful. And with the system, he could extract any practical ability from a book within a short amount of time. This advantage must not be wasted.
Aidan looked at the pile of books. Time to learn some skills and read the damn manual. He sprang out of bed and stood up, stretching his back and hands before popping his knuckles. Taking a deep breath, Aidan slapped himself. No physical pain in this world shall scare me.
Approaching the desk, he sorted out the books and read the titles to find suitable skills to learn. Every skill was useful as long as he could use them properly. If not, then that ability would merely become a title in his system. Furthermore, the pain would not be worth it. Besides, he need to spend time and effort to level up the skills, so he needed to choose the right skills to learn.
[This is a skill book 'Hard Muscle']
[Do you want to learn this skill?]
