"Is there something wrong?" The hairy creature asked.
The floating screen disappeared.
"No, not at all," Aidan shook his head.
I'll check it out later.
"Anyway, where can I find dorm number 39?"
The creature pointed in a direction. "Just go to that hall and turn right. After that, you will see a sign."
"Okay, thanks." Aidan went as instructed.
"Make sure you read the manual first. I put it at the top of your books,'
Aidan gave the creature a thumbs up. He really needed to stop calling him a creature. After all, he would see a lot of non-human races afterward.
Soon after, he saw the sign and immediately found his dorm. 'Room 39'. The sign on the wooden door read.
This is it, he thought. This is where he is going to live from now on. A new life. A new world. And now—a new dorm.
Aidan used his keys and went inside. A small bed with a pillow sat on the corner of the room with a bookshelf behind it. In another corner was a table and a chair. A ball of some kind sat on a silver cup. Light pierced in from the window beside the shelf. It directly faced the courtyard where students read their books while eating their meal.
Just how big is this school? Even from this high, I still can't see the end of the courtyard.
Wait, I need to check out that weird panel earlier! Aidan put the books on the table and jumped into his bed. Based on countless video games he played, that panel earlier must be some kind of system. But how do I access it?
A blue translucent panel appeared.
Title: Children of Fate

Attributes: Strength 2, Dexterity 2, Endurance 3, Intelligence 3.
Skill:
-[Skill — Dirty Tricks]
Aidan blinked a few times. So it just appeared according to my will?
He tried to make it disappear, and it did. Chuckling to himself, Aidan shook his head.
The creator of this system really had an excellent taste. Do by chance they know his favorite comics and novels are LITRPG?
After reading countless stories about them, of course, he would know how it worked, generally at least. He felt like he had seen the system when he was attacked by that doomhound thing, but he was not sure of what it was.
Alright, let's check out the skill first.
[Dirty Trick] (active) (Lv1). Increasing the chance of successfully distracting the enemy by 15%
Bah! What a lousy skill. Distracting the enemy was good, but if you couldn't fight against your opponent, then you would still be wrecked. Like I did.
Aidan turned his attention to the pile of books on the table. The system asked him if he wanted to learn a skill earlier when he touch the book, so he wanted to try again.
[This is a skill book 'Fate Energy Breathing Technique']
[Do you want to learn this skill?]
Fate energy? Is that the purple light thing that those students used?
The system did not answer.
Well, it doesn't hurt to try.
Aidan accepted the skill with his thought.
His forehead felt hot. It felt like hot boiling oil.
"Ah!!! What the hell!!"
He scrubbed and slapped his forehead a few times to relieve the pain. He gritted his teeth and squeezed the bedsheet to endure it. Shi*t! Sh*t! Sh*t! What the hell is going on? Is this book a curse? Learning it would burn your forehead or something?
He scraped his forehead on the bedsheet and after what seemed like a very long time — the pain disappeared like it was never there.
Aidan touched his forehead. Nothing. He rubbed it with his finger. Nothing. Then he pinched it. Nothing. Man, what is going on?
Aidan noticed a small portable mirror on the table. He looked at himself with it.
What was this symbol on his forehead? Fu*k! That book was really cursed! I'm going to complain to that hairy creature now!
The symbol gleamed purple.
Wait, maybe this is necessary to get that purple power stuff. They have to scare the sh*t out of him first, huh?
Aidan checked his stats again.

Hoo! So he got energy now? Is that what people here called Fate Energy, which is essentially mana. They need to work on their naming. I mean, Fate Energy is such a dumb name, he thought. Who comes up with that? If it was me, I would name it 'Super Energy' or something like that.
"Fate Energy," Aidan chuckled. "So dumb," he laughed. Alright, let's see what other skills do we got.
Crash!
Someone opened the door violently. A bespectacled young woman with a slender figure. "Aidan Henderson! You did not report your absence today."
"Huh?" Aidan said. "But I just become a student today."
"Didn't you read the manual?" The woman stared at him.
"Uh... no."
She put her hands on her waist. "It's your first day of school and you already broke the rules. How are you going to explain this? Mr. Henderson."
"I'm sorry." Aidan rubbed the back of his head. Damn so embarrassing!
"W— have you learned the [Fate Energy Breathing Technique] already?" The woman frowned.
Oh, no. Am I not supposed to do that? "Yes, just now."
The woman raised an eyebrow. "Who enrolled you in this school?"
"The vice-dean, ma'am." Aidan turned his head down. Is she going to tell the vice-dean? I hope not.
"Then let me tell you one of our principles. Anyone who broke the rules will be punished no matter who they are. The punishment was supposed to be a memory and comprehension test. But since you already learned the [Fate Energy Breathing Technique] Then your punishment will involve something that will let you use it."
Aidan got worried. "Is it fighting doomhound?"
"No. I read your report, and I wanted to avoid triggering a trauma within you. So you will not fight a doomhound."
That's a relief.
"Then what am I going to fight?"

INSIDE A GLASS DOME ARENA.
A pair of red-blood eyes stared at Aidan, dazzling feathers stung his eyes. It was the bird. The bird that caught him earlier. The bird moved its pincher and rotated its teeth.
Recpeodatyl! or so he was told. This creature's name sound like the flying dinosaur he knew. The one who named it must be a scientist, he thought. They always have a weird taste in naming things.
Shi*t who cares about that. I'm about to fight against this thing right now. Aidan had seen the bird's strength. This one might be a lot smaller than his captor, but he was sure that the bird could slap him to death.
"I apologize Mrs. Zahir. But I don't think I'm ready to fight against this bird."
Stras Stroden Zahir That was her full name. Aidan wanted to call her Mrs. Stras, but he was told to use her last name instead.
Zahir adjusted her glasses. "No one in this school has any special treatment, Mr. Henderson. If you make a mistake, then you will be punished. Besides, your life is not at risk."
Aidan smiled bitterly. I doubt that. The bird had a lot of weapons as its arsenal. Its feathers, razor claws, pincher, and wings, but the true danger lay in its ability to reach supersonic speed. If it decided to crash into him with that power, even the thought of dodging it would be too late.
Aidan turned toward the bird. The chain on its legs and wings was the only thing that kept it from attacking.
This doesn't make any sense. I'm a new student. I don't even know any skills yet, only how to channel the energy.
Aidan sighed. "Alright. I'll try."
Zahir nodded and waved her hand.
The chain fell to the ground. The bird flapped its wings, sending a surge of wind towards him as it flew to the sky. The dome prevented the bird from freedom and it seemed to blame Aidan for it.
Why are you looking at me like? I'm forced to come here too!
Aidan executed his breathing technique. Purple energies materialized around him as they flowed and seep in through his nose. He closed his eyes. Channeling the energy to his sights, he opened them and stared at the bird, who flew overhead.

Lv. 1 [Analyze]! Concentrating energy in your eyes lets you see what others cannot.
Aha! I know it! Now let's see what this bird got except fleas.
HP: 120
Energy: 0
Skills: [Super Flight]
That's it? I thought this ability could tell me its weakness or something. Well, at least it's better than nothing.
Aidan inspected [Super Flight] with his thought.
[Super Flight(LV1)] It lets you fly fast, really fast!
Dammit, even I know that. This ability is a scam!
The bird emitted a high-pitched whistle, like the call of an eagle. Notifying its prey that death will come. It nimbly spun in the air before plunging down towards Aidan.
Aidan froze before he quickly jumped to dodge, narrowly avoiding its pincher strike.
He considered his next moves, but the bird slapped him with its wing.

Aidan staggered, blood dripped from his cheek. He stabilized himself and leaped back. Putting both hands in front of his face, like a boxer in a stance. Those wings were dangerous as suspected, but thankfully it was just a baby so it didn't deal as much damage as the adult ones. Still, Aidan wouldn't be so careless anymore.
The baby recpeodatyl charged again, this time it ran with its legs. It opened its pincher wide, showing its leech-like mouth before rotating the teeth inside.
Aidan ran away, even though he knew some martial arts; he only learned them for fun. And he didn't think that martial arts could be used to fight a 3 meter tall bird. Not to mention a 3 meter tall bird, even a 1 meter tall dog could scare the hell out of him
The bird cried out and chased him. It seemed to slow down whenever it need to turn.
"Mr. Henderson. You need to fight the bird or I have to put another one for you!"
"No! No! No! I will fight it now, Mrs Zahir. I just wanted to gauge its strength first." Aidan laughed bitterly.
Aidan stopped as he saw the bird approached. The creature cried out and sped up, clacking its pincher as it did so.
Damn. How am I supposed to defeat this bird!
Aidan recalled the scissor technique he learned before. He was quite good at it.
The bird arrived a few meters in front of him.
Aidan ran to the side, leaped toward the bird, and clamped the bird's leg. The bird tripped and fell.

The damage did not surprise Aidan, after all, this technique wasn't made for damage.
Aidan stood up and performed a rear choke on the bird. Using every part of his body to suffocate the vile beast.

...
Yes, this will work!
The bird rose with Aidan on its back. It turned its head 180 degrees like an owl and attacked his arm with its pincher.
Aidan screamed. The tiny spikes on the pincher dig deep in his arm as blood streamed out of it. He tried to yank it off, but its grip was powerful, and it felt like his arm was cemented in place.
Screaming, he punched the bird in the face with his left hand repeatedly.
{Anggo kasaktian ci}
A grating voice entered his head.
Aidan breathed in. Purple light streamed into his body, making his veins glow before all the light condensed into his left hand. He drew his fist as far back as he can, and with a cry—he punched the bird in the eye.

The bird released its grip and cried out in pain, staggering left and right before it fell.
