Once the Lady Empress was satisfied that the nine young girls were not still being kept in trunks, the conversation turned to other things. Rowena was careful to keep the topics light and innocuous.
She did not bring up the subject of their 'tribute' as she wasn't ready to start that discussion again. Daimon had not yet decided what to do with the youngsters and they both felt that there was some important reason behind why the girls were brought to begin with. And they both knew it was not for the Emperor's harem.
Nor did she mention the disappearance of the Head Priest and his disciples. Although she couldn't articulate why, she had a feeling that they already knew.
