Tinaja relaxed her body and cleared her mind. She took a few deep breaths. Then she fixed her gaze upon the candle's flame.
She stared at it until her vision began to blur. The shadows on the wall began to dance faster, whirling together into a tangled frenzy. When they finally stilled, they revealed strange pictures.
First, she saw a solid black fox, dark as night and a solid shadow itself. Then a solid white one, pure as snow revealed only by being outlined in black using the negative space of the white wall to reveal its color. They saw each other across a wide distance. Once they noticed each other, they stopped briefly then raced to meet each other. Once together, they cavorted merrily by jumping, sprinting, and chasing each other's tails.
It was a charming scene. But it soon faded as the shadows congealed into a mass then dissipated like smoke before finally coalescing into a different scene.
