"But you should have let us know you were coming. We would have prepared a welcoming banquet including games and other entertainment." Daimon spoke politely but there was a warning in his tone that let her know that she would not be allowed to show up uninvited again.
"There is no need" she replied hastily. "I am honored by your generosity. However, I just want to see my daughter."
Daimon nodded. Just then an excited scream was heard from the end of the hall.
"Mommy!" Rowena called running towards the woman like a little girl.
"Rowena, My Darling!" Queen Mathilde replied her eyes shining with happy tears.
The two women embraced affectionately and kissed each other's cheeks.
Daimon couldn't help but smile at Rowena's lack of decorum. He was used to it by now, but it never failed to amuse him.
Rowena looked at the Head Steward. "Prepare a set of rooms for my mother and provide her with every luxury she requires."
