Lorel returns to her room as she reads the documents she was given for hours on. Learning about the history of the Maid Brigade. Knowing and understanding that the Brigade has been active ever since the downfall of the original humans that once walked and roamed the earth. They once had a leader to protect and was a Queen of a country that has perished during the downfall.
The original Motto of that Brigade was 'Serve And Protect The Queen' a notable motto since they originally a special team to protect the royal family and the Queen of the said country. Lorel learns that she couldn't find any documents about her Mother serving the Brigade and had most of the members name and info redacted ahead of time.
But she sees some of the photos with there faces redacted and yet she identifies her mother in one of them knowing how her mother usually ties her hair. "Mom... I never knew you were on the frontlines..." As Lorel sips her coffee while laying back on her chair contemplating the documents about how her mother's name is never mentioned due to all of their names being redacted and that she only has a copy of the official documents.
"The Maid Brigade huh. I never knew we've been a long standing group of masterless maids working for the sake of the public and the greater good under the principles of now the Usurper's influence." As Lorel speaks out of what she knows the principles of the Maid Brigade after their reactivation when the Title Event or the Entitlement what they call it back then.
"Foot soldiers became redundant after Title Holders became more powerful than our weapons so we ended up working underground again but since our history had specialized in this kinds of work make fully sense now." Said Lorel as she keeps reading about the history when a page of the document raises her concern... 'Operation: Fallen Cross [FAILURE]' as it was labeled by the previous Head Maid. "I only heard that this operation was one of the worst the Brigade had done." As Lorel quickly reads the entire 4 pages of the document.
'The operation was deemed a failure due to the hundreds of Maids KIA during the operation notable being the Ace Maid [REDACTED] aka The Saint. As she protected and rescued thousands upon thousands of people during the failed operation standing her ground as she let the victims and her comrades escape from impending doom. Upon everyone escaping she was overwhelmed by the Cult's Elite enemies killed on the spot. She got a Medal of Honor for her duties.'
As Lorel started tearing up that she knew her Mother was The Saint the documents were pointing it out that she died tragically. She found her Mother's Medal of Honor on the document as the Head Maid Pricilla knows about her loss. Lorel notices that Pricilla's code name was written in the operation report. "I guess she knew about my Mother..." Said Lorel while trying to wipe her tears as she continues reading the Operation report.
'The failure was due to the unforeseen circumstances that multiple maids were forced to retreat some abandoned their group which were trialed for desertation and was executed for the result of the deserters. Over hundreds of Maids were killed in the operation and had to regroup losing more that 40% of the total members. Along with the deaths of The Saint two other Aces were killed in battle that took a toll on the morale of the entire Brigade.'
'Resulting in the worst operation ever devised in the entire history of the Maid Brigade. Note: This operation WILL never happen again.' As Lorel closes the document while still teared up from seeing her mom from the photograph before they left to war. "I wonder what it felt like when they lost all hope and only had to die left to live for. I can feel Mom would try to save as many as she can, I would be mad if saw my teammates abandon their point at least she saved the most people she could which I couldn't do."
Lorel closes the envelop of the document and hides it in her drawer as she sleeps while thinking what would it be like in that situation in her own mother's shoes. She later dreams of her Mother's perspective... Seeing hell up and front, she hears the screams of her comrades dying from the rain of bullets and mayhem being thrown at them left and right her teammates getting ripped apart, sliced, and torn from battling against the enemy's Elite Title holder units. Lorel breathes heavily as the smell of blood and gunpowder filled the air as her mother stands in the middle of the field shooting everything she had.
After an hour... Lorel wakes up upon seeing two Elite Soldiers taking her mother down. A nightmare that she realized that her mother was afraid of dying. Lorel struggles and hits her head on the wall surprisingly a letter fell from the ceiling... "Ouch that really fucking hurt. Huh? What's this?" As Lorel wonders why is there a letter that fell from the ceiling of her room. She saw a dent in the ceiling and decided to check and it opened where she looked around and saw a box which she quickly pulled off from the hidden compartment of the ceiling.
She looked at the letter and has something written 'To My Daughter.' As she teared up again upon seeing a letter from her mom she wrote before she died. Lorel opens the letter to be surprised that her Mother had left her stuff that she'll be needing in the future.
'Lorel, my cute daughter... If you're reading this I'm probably gone by now. I'm leaving for a dangerous operation we need to do to turn this secret war around. I hope you grow up to be a proper woman I have given this letter to one of the officers that should deliver it to you by now. If you do follow my steps and I doubt that you wouldn't but if you did. This letter will be hidden in my old room, the higher ups knows this and if so there's a box along with this letter attached to it.'
'Inside is a key to my locker room where if I'm gone my rifle would be there and my pistol. It's my gift to you as a congratulations upon succeeding in the recruitment tests the Brigade does. If you became an Ace like your mother, I say I'm very proud of you. If not I'm happy that you're serving the better side of the world Lorel. I have a photograph in the box when you were young and on my hands I think you should have it so you wouldn't forget your mother's face.'
'You never saw your fathers face right? It's sad that he died serving his service to the country as well but don't worry the officers of the Brigade will take care of you in the sense of they'll make it hard for you. You're all grown up now you should be able to pick your future I hope you never repeat the mistakes your mother made if you read this letter too late into the future... Your Mom, The Saint'
"Mom... You're stupid mom this letter never came to the house." Said Lorel as she was crying again but this time she was smiling. She gets her Mom's locker room keys and places it on her table as she goes back to sleep. She knows that she has a job and a service she has to do.
