Chapter 24 - His downfall Her future

King Nathaniel walked up behind his daughter and picked her up. "We won't leave until he is dead, in the meantime let's get your injuries taken care of." He said sternly to his daughter. "Could you send for Mother and Prince Brandon?" Lilly asked her father. "Yes, she would be great to be here too, to help with your pregnancy too. "Once my child is born, I will end Zeal and his reign," Lilly said in a menacing tone. "I know, I support you, as of right now I need to teach you how to run a Country. How to be a favorable Queen, how to rule fairly, how to access your sources, form alliances, and more." King Nathaniel said to Lilly. "Now?" Lilly asked. "No, today you rest and get bandaged up." King Nathaniel said in a fatherly tone.

King Nathaniel watched as the knights arrested Zeal and carried him out of the tower. "I want to watch him be locked in shackles in the dungeon," Lilly said. Her father nodding in approval started walking behind the knights, Lilly directed them on where to go." They walked into the Castle and down a long dark hallway. They turned right and down the first flight of stairs leading to the basement. They walked down a spiral staircase that eventually turned into a cobblestone staircase. After walking 7 flights down they reached a heavy wooden door with iron bars. They opened the door that led to the dungeon, it was nothing special, it was dark, and cold with dripping wet cave walls and cobblestone flooring. Rusty iron bars and no light seeping through anything.

They walked all the way down to the end of the dungeon just before you reached the small room that also had the same door as the one you entered, It was the guard's room where they monitored the prisoners. Zeal was thrown into the cell grabbed by his hair and placed in a collared chain around his neck that linked him to the wall his hands were placed in a large heavy wooden and iron handcuff that was connected to his waist. "You won't get away with this." Zeal said through gritted teeth. "I already have," Lilly replied. They glared daggers at each other through the cell door that just got closed. "Five knights will stay in the guard's room at all times to monitor the prisoner." King Nathaniel ordered.

Lilly saw the guard's room, no window to see outside, there was black piping crisscrossing above the ceiling They were small ventilation shafts that led outside bringing fresh air throughout the entire dungeon. Small enough that no one could fit in them but large enough for air to pass through. There was a screen in the corner of the room with a hole in the ground for people to go to the bathroom in, on the other side. there was a wooden desk and some wooden chairs. There were two torches in their holders that hadn't been lit in a while. "Father please take me to the doctor I need to get ready to greet the people." Lilly requested.

"Already thinking like a true ruler." Her father said proudly. "I still miss my home." Lilly said emotionally her voice cracked as tears threatened to fall. "Maybelle will always be your home child. You are always allowed back as long as you want." King Nathaniel said. "For right now you have to stay on Veiltest soil and birth your child, however." Her father reminded her. Lilly nodded knowingly, the fact was she was a woman and she held a lot of power in just that. Add onto the fact she was a noble. As insurance laws were put into place, a pregnant woman couldn't deny the relation to her child because it came from her, so laws were put into place, a noble woman had to give birth while her husband was still alive and on the soil that belonged to her husband. Otherwise, she could up and leave with the child at any time and say another man was the father changing the legitimacy. Understandably that caused unrest.

Lilly could leave and go back home to Maybelle, leaving Veiltest without a ruler and the people to defend themselves, society would collapse on itself and leave so many with no resources. The people needed a leader, a sane leader one who wasn't mad with power and who understood the position. Lilly was going to be that leader, which meant it complicated her coming home unless to just visit. The entire original royal Veiltest family was wiped out and once her child was born there would only be one sole survivor. She had a responsibility to ensure Veiltest's future. She wasn't going to mess it up! "Father, will you be my ally for this Kingdom?" Lilly asked looking up at her father with puppy dog eyes. "Of course, we can discuss more once you are healed and spoke to your people." Lilly smiled and rested her head on her dad's shoulders. She was tired from everything and her stomach was aching.

King Nathaniel walked up the stairs, never once showing exhaustion. He opened the door and walked down the long halls until. "Part of the great things about being queen is you get to decorate you're own castle." He said to his daughter trying to cheer her up. "I wanna plant Maybellian Bluebell Flowers and Angel Tear Roses." Lilly said in a tired voice. Her father smiled down at his sleepy daughter. "You have time kiddo." He replied. "Your mother will be delighted to see you again." He said calmly. He finally reached the infirmary, walking in he gently laid her down on an empty bed. He saw other wounded people there and the doctor rushing up. "My Queen are you alright?" The doctor asked quickly giving aid to Lilly.

"Father, please hold my hand." Lilly asked her father nodding, he took a seat next to his daughter and stroked her hand as she was fading in and out of consciousness. The doctor worked in silence quickly sewing her shoulder up and cleaning the rest of her minor scratches, once she was all bandaged her father asked. "Will she be alright?" "Yes your highness, she needs some more sleep." The old doctor replied. "Thank goodness." King Nathaniel replied. The king motioned for one of the knights to come forward and they did. "Send a message to my wife and to Prince Brandon, tell them Queen Lilly and I request their presence at once." The knight nodded, bowed his head, and went on his way. It was sunset when Lilly finally woke up. She carefully sat up and got to her feet. "Are you sure you're ready? her father asked. "Yes." Lilly replied. "You there please find me a nice dress that will fit me and help me get ready to greet the people," Lilly asked a maid. She was a tall chunky woman in her late twenties, with brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses, her hair was slicked back into a ponytail and bangs hanging slightly over her frames. She had fair skin and wore a simple maid outfit. Her shoes were missing, however.

The maid nodded and walked Lilly to her old room. "I'll have a different room after today, I'll pick it out." Lilly replied coldly not wanting to be in the room where "it" happened, that awful night forever burned inside her mind. The maid nodded and left to find a dress that would look nice on the expecting Queen. Lilly tried on a light blue lace dress that loosened at her stomach to provide room for her growing stomach. It had sleeves and went down to her ankles, she wore comfy white shoes and had her hair braided back. Light makeup was applied light enough that it looked like she almost had none on her face. Lilly took a deep breath and walked out of her room where her father waited. "All the Kingdom has been gathered for your grand speech, I will be right behind you." King Nathaniel said reassuringly to his nervous daughter. "Thank you," Lilly said softly.

King Nathaniel walked with Lilly up five flights of stairs, and through four long hallways until they reached the grand balcony. They walked out the doors onto the balcony in front of millions of people, there was a microphone waiting for Lilly to speak through. Lilly looked up at her father and he smiled down at her tapping her hand reassuringly, it gave Lilly some confidence and she let go of her father's arm stepping forward to speak into the mic. "As you know I am Lilly originally the Princess of Maybelle, I was abducted and brought here to be your sacrificial Queen. Zeal only needed me to marry him and bear him an heir after he wiped out his entire family so he could have power.." Lilly paused for a moment looking at the crowd. "With the help of my father King of Maybelle King Nathaniel, I brought the bloodthirsty tyrant to his knees, yes I currently have his seed in my womb, rest assured my child will grow up understanding the great responsibility and honor to serve his people of Maybelle. In the meantime, I am the first Queen of Veiltest to rule and to be humbled and honored to care for your needs and restore the glory of this beautiful kingdom. For the rest of my days, I will honor you and serve you. Until my final breath I, your Queen will be at your beckon call and to do justice on your behalf. I will fight for you, die for you, protect you, and grow with you as your Queen my loyalty is to you and our allies." Lilly finished her speech and everyone cheered with delight. Lilly smiled back at her father and King Nathaniel smiled with pride at his middle daughter.
