Chapter 28 - Godly

(Buddha POV)

Who in the fuck was that? I didn't even get the chance to break up the fight, wasn't he walking back from the humans side as well? If he's my opponent then I'm walking out, the 7 luck gods weren't strong but they weren't weak enough to be immediately eviscerated. If he's with the humans then I'm definitely defecting.

[Time Skip]

[Ki lv4]

(Oliverick POV)

My clone came to me in the bar, immediately covering for me, handing out Blaidd's bowl of water. "Time to go" I've been itching to get a fight in, hopefully whoever it is lasts long enough.

I step out of the door into the arena and walk to my corner. Leaning on the wall absentmindedly until I hear that Heimdall's Gjallarhorn.

"ARE YOU REAAAADYYYYYY!!! Round five of the Ragnarok tournament is about to begin! And we have 2 very special competitors tonight, over on the side of the Gods, we have the one who achieved Nirvana! He needs no introduction, it is BUDDHA!!!!" Heimdall is bouncing around in excitement as he announces my competitor.

Buddha himself walks into the arena, passing directly by his spot and standing in the human spot. He has a small tug of war for the Gjallarhorn before using it to announce, "Uh, I'm on the human's side now" And he destroyed the horn. I could've guessed that Buddha would choose the human's side, I suppose I'll compete in the next tournament.

I walked into the arena, using [Big bang sorcery] to give Heimdall a glintstone Gjallarhorn and exited through my bar door off to the side. I did that because I felt quite bad for Heimdall, the man just wanted his horn, also I quite liked the announcements.

I swapped with a clone to tell me when my match is and went back to work. I went back to preparing Kalé's boar stew once again. A shame but I suppose I should be happy that humanity got a strong defender.

The next day I dealt with the morning rush, spare clones sent to practice Ki once more. However today is the day that I can finally have a good fight.

Stepping out into the arena once more, the ground was a dark grey and the skies red. Instead of walking, I floated over to my corner, now capable of flight. Leaning on the wall once more, I kept an ear out for Heimdall.

"GOOD MORNING HUMANS AND GODS!!!! Are you ready for a battle no one can predict?! I'm not! After all we have some fascinating contestants today. Overrrr on the Gods side, the God of the Underworld, the one that we all return to its… Hades!!! Crows ready on his shoulders, he is more than happy to score a victory for the Gods today!" Suddenly, shadows leapt out from everyone's seats, abandoning their hosts and swarming to create a pool of vanta black.Hades stood there, as calm as ever. I have to do a cool entrance now, I can't be letting myself get upstaged.

"On the humans' side we have someone that is an anomaly in every sense of the word. We don't even know what he is! Capable of subduing Heracles and creating my new horn, itsssss….. Oliverick!" Whilst he was talking I created a hell portal and used it to create a dramatic and demonic entrance on my spot, I rise out of the portal with flaming thorns at my side. I land slowly as it all disperses.

"Hades, it's been a while since I've had a good fight, do you mind doing me a favour?" I ask him.

"Depends on the favour naturally." He was unmoving and ready to slice me down even now."

"I have many abilities at my disposal, please pick a type of magic or weapon. I shall only use what you pick, if I don't have it then I shall only use my hands." There's a lot of skills that I have simply never used despite the level, so I'm hoping he picks something unique.

"Holy magic." Clearly taking the chance to try and impede me he picked quickly.

"Done"

"Are you two ready? Let'ssss ROCK AND ROLL!" He jumped back allowing us to begin. I could cop out of the agreement and simply bless a thorn sword, but that's cowardly.

[Boss music lv1 -Merger-]

As my skill comes on, I create a large redwood tree sized erdtree to heal me and begin by sending swarms of spirals towards Hades. He presents his bident and uses the wind to trigger each of the spirals, detonating them in the air.

He follows up by conjuring a swarm of shades to accost me, most likely buying time to attack me in another manner. I use a repulsing 360 degree blast of holy light, disintegrating the crows, then I slowly rise up from the ground, a large holy light spreading across the floor where Hades stands. Not knowing why, he vanishes from the area and reappears, looking at the giant pillar of light descending onto the ground.

(Hades POV)

He tricked me, I'll give him that, coming from an obviously dark natured portal to make me believe it was his specialty, making me choose holy instead. Though I only have his word that he will stay with holy, only he knows if that's his actual specialty or not.

I utilise the wind the dodge the slashes of light coming towards me, I need to get in close, disrupt his flow. Preparing my bident, I imbue minimal life force and redirect his attacks as I get in close. I lunge for an attack when suddenly, a giant ethereal yellow hammer appears in his hand slamming into my side and crushing my bones within.

I struggle to get up, ignoring the irritating voice of Heimdall. The only way I win this is through attrition, my bident's ability will jot help me here. Surely he cannot keep casting these spells.

(Oliverick POV)

God I could do this all day, you'd think Hades would put up a challenge. He's only a high tier 7A, it's genuinely disappointing. Alexander will be happy with his body though. There's no use dragging this on, his wind control is unimaginative and his bident can't even cut through casual spells.

A swarm of holy needles surround him diving straight towards his direction. A look of mortal fear comes over him for a moment before coming to terms with what he must do to survive any longer.

His skin goes pale as the bident gains a polished finish, he spins it into the oncoming swarm and manages to defend against it, dispersing it all. Not bad, but I wonder if he can keep it up.

I use the erdtree created and drag it down onto him, he narrowly avoids it and charges at my direction. In turn I create a bident of holy light, I have no ability with anything other than a warhammer, sword and my hands so this could end poorly for me.

I interlock the bident tips and spin, forcing him to loosen his grip or else he would drop it entirely. I use the moment to joust my own, throwing his behind him, he backsteps quickly and I follow up with a swipe to his legs, slashing directly below his kneecaps.

With ligaments poking out from his legs, mobility for him will be entirely reliant on his wind control. Of which the slashes he send at me are countered with holy copies, with him now trying to. create distance once more, I float up, mimicking my actions from earlier.

A holy light graces the field and he charges at me, bident jousting out in front. Just as he reaches me, a yellow arm wielding a hammer spawns from my back and pulverises him into the floor. He fell for the bait I laid out, I knew he wouldn't get in close anymore unless something like that came up, so I baited it out.

I picked up his weapon and threw his corpse to a clone ready to collect it. The crowd was silent, it was an unprecedented win. A stranger coming in and killing Hades, stealing his weapon and corpse. I thought it best for me to wave to the crowd, specifically Jack, who was the first one to clap.

"AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! The thrilling dark horse has bested Hades, God of the Underworld without so much as a single injury! Do you have anything to say for yourself Oliverick?"

I take the horn from Heimdall and thank him for the announcement, "Uh not too much, I figured it would be a bit below my level but he didn't even force me to use anything else. Oh and come to my bar, if you see doors randomly across the world or afterlife then that is an entrance to it. Thank you for watching." It was a bit awkward at the end so I panicked and said thanks for watching. Though I wasn't rude to Hades on purpose… actually I was, the man wanted to commit omnicide so I think I'm justified discrediting him.
