Chapter 1 - Prologue

"What should I do now, Michael?" Reese asked without strength gripped on the armchair,

She felt all her energy vanished into thin air after she heard the words she did not expect to hear. Michael guilty looked at her and kneeled, he didn't want to do this but he had to. He wanted to focus on his kid now that he is sick. Michael did not want this to happen and God knows how he loves Reese ever since he hugged her during that night, he wanted to be with her all his life but his son needs him more than anyone else.

He touched her neck, his thumbs touched her cheeks wiping the tear. He loved her so much that now he is questioning what should he do. He licked his lips and kissed her forehead.

'It's for Jared...' he thought and tightly closed his eyes,

he made his decision and it's for his son.

Reese cried even more, knowing that he finally made the decision. She touched his hands tightly, trying to tell him to decide again. "Baby, please. Not now." her voice cracked as she begged, she touched her lips on his hand giving him a subtle kiss.

They looked at each other eyes and they both know they loved each other, but one has to give up.

Reese hugged Michael tightly, not letting him go and cried on his neck. She wanted Michael to choose her, she knows that it's a stupid idea. She loved Jared too but it hurts her heart that she is convincing his father to choose her when she knows that he needs Michael's care more than her. Her heart broke into million pieces realizing that in just couple of minutes, he had to go. He had to choose him.

"Reese, hun." Michael breathed as he kissed her temples and softly pushing her, but she gripped more tightly. "I'm sorry..."

She lost her chance... She knows.
