Chapter 67 - Chapter 67

N/A POV

They entered the Necropolis to see an army of the living dead awaiting them, La Bruja sitting on a pedestal, placing herself above all others as if she were the ruler of the dead. As Jacke took the lead, Mallow, Milo, and Gloria split off from the group to divert attention from them; They took to different sides of the realm, as Jacke and Alex led their army forwards, something told them that even if La Bruja would have words, there was no way out of here without a fight, and they'd come to terms with that fact.

"Ah, Jakey boy, it's good to see you again, Mi Amor. You're just as adorable as the day I first laid eyes on you, still as innocent I see."

"Your eyes deceive you, Dear Bruja, you only see me the same as I once was, not who I am now. You do hate me, don't you?"

"With every fiber of my being."

The air of The Necropolis shifted, resembling the hatred she held in her heart for her old flame. To her, he was to blame for everything that went wrong, after he bested her once she fell for him; They dated for not even a year before they weren't together anymore, he had left her in the dark, and even though they said "We'd still be friends" the hate remained, and through it, she gained the strength to raise this legion. Now, Jacke had found Alex, a werewolf who was the yin to his yang, his perfect match, and she envied him even more so now than ever before.

"You know, mutt, he'll stab you in the back the second he gets that chance, just as he did me. He talks of big game, but at the end of the day, he's just as wicked as I am," She said to Alex, trying to get in her head, she had no idea who she was messing with. Alex had been through hell and high water, just as Jacke had, and when she bit him, claiming him as hers, she saw all of it. The pain and sorrow this bitch had caused him, the good memories he had when they were together, and the bad ones.

"You know, that's quite funny because I could say the same thing to you. You talk of Jacke like you know him better than I do, and maybe in another time, you did. The boy you once knew had to grow up, and he's stronger than you think he is, because if you don't belittle him, how would you have any hope of defeating him at his prime?" That struck a nerve, and La Bruja's gaze turned even more venomous, staring at them with a burning hatred that even they couldn't understand anymore.

"YOU THINK YOU'RE SO FUCKING CLEVER, DON'T YOU?! Well, why don't we even the odds a bit, shall we!?" She said, snapping her fingers, and that's when Mallow heard it. The roar of a dragon with wings as black as the starry night sky itself, and eyes that bled a crimson red, "AND YES, THIS IS A SKYRIM REFERENCE!!"

The dragon landed off to her side, breathing a virulent purple breath into the air, sending shivers down Jacke's spine; He knew this dragon from the games, but this was real, it felt like a nightmare he had no hope of waking up from. If it wasn't for Alex's grip, he might've actually turned and ran, but it was too late to hide. This was their redemption for everything wrong they'd done to survive, and now, the fight for their lives. As his confidence came back, the energy shifted back for his allies, newfound confidence stinging their hearts; They knew failure wasn't an option, and they wouldn't give up until La Bruja fell, but how were they supposed to fight a dragon?!

"Allow me, Brothers," A voice called from the shadow, and a glowing gold box flew to the center of the room, runes around its edges as it twisted and turned, playing a song that inspired them all.

"You claim for yourself, the name Alduin, the firstborn of Akatosh. What a twisted mistake, Bruja."

The Golden Child flew from the shadows and tackled the dragon into the void below, and the war began. The strange cube continued playing as the two armies clashed, with Jacke, Jameson, Damien, and Alex at the head of it all; Slashing and shooting everything in sight from the middle of the hoard, they had no mercy to give, and no fear to feel. Only the adrenaline pumping through their veins reminded them they were alive, and fighting to live another day. Milo and Gloria joined them in the fight as the two armies clashed, for every corpse that fell and burned, another ten joined the hoard; La Bruja was merciless in the execution of her plans, she wanted to watch as Jacke's world burned before his eyes, knowing he could do nothing about it.

The dragon and the Child of Ice wrestled in the emptiness below before M was able to climb the beast. On its back, he climbed up and grabbed hold of the beast's horns, riding it back up as the beast flew higher and higher, trying to wrestle itself free from his grasp.

"Why do you fight a losing battle, Child? It would be so much easier to just submit to your betters, and join us on our side."

"I am no longer your pawn, void spawn, you're the pawn here, and I am your master!"

The dragon nose-dived heading straight down towards the hoard, and threw M off of its back knee-deep in the hoard of undead, they tore and beat him mercilessly. Beating him down with the same wrath that La Bruja felt for Jacke, and no matter how hard they fought they couldn't keep him all the way down. Jacke, saw him struggling but couldn't get through the hoard to get to him, Jameson and Damien back to back fighting with everything they had, Alex was nowhere to be seen as she had lost control, and Alexis was at the wheel. Gloria and Milo were the only ones who could see, where he was, but knew they wouldn't be able to get to him in time, so they picked up the torch and charged the dragon. Each grabbed hold of one of its horns, holding it in place.

"Let go of me, you insolent scraps!!"

"You'd think it would've learned by now, huh, Milo?"

"You'd think, but apparently not, it keeps underestimating him. This is no longer its realm, it just resides here."

"What are you talking about!?" The dragon waled as the two ripped its horns off, resulting in a scream of utter agony, and pierced its scaly hide with them.

"Watch and learn, worm!"

As the music died out, it almost instantaneously started again, a new song played, and with it, came a wave of light that disintegrated the entire hoard in one fell swoop. He knew it wouldn't be long before they came back, but the time for talk was done, he saw the dragon in front of him; Being held in place by Milo and Gloria, it was time to break this twisted cycle. He pointed a single finger to the beast, and curled it inward twice, mocking the wicked beast. It was a weak link in his well-oiled machine, and it was either going to join him or be destroyed in the process. He lept from the grounds of Necropolis, and landed on its back while Jacke and Alex watched in awe, La Bruja was wide open to be destroyed but they couldn't take their eyes off the dragon as The Child of Ice shined a piercing gold, riding the beast into the air, one final time: It would bend to his will, or be destroyed by the radiance of his fury.
