"Holy shit Vanagloria! How are you doing that?!" Martyr says up to the lightning girl struggling to lift his weight.
She's standing on the top of the cloud, with only Martyrs head and arm poking out.
"I don't… it's just kind of… happening." Vanagloria manages.
Her face is fully red in her effort to keep him up. Both of her hands have an iron grip to hold him up.
The elemental power surging through her right now is probably powering through her right now and causing her muscles to work overtime. It's probably why she's able to hold him up right now, even he would've had a lot of trouble lifting this much weight right below him.
"Let go if it's hurting." Martyr says. He is very sure that Vega has some way of saving him if he drops down, plus he had his rocket boots.
Maybe it's a little optimistic but with all of the crazy prophecy and god shit that's happened in the past 20 minutes this is one of the less crazy things to believe right now.
"Nope." Vanagloria says in a large exhale.
"Is that a solid floor of cloud right you are standing on?"
"Y…Yes." Vanagloria's cheeks look almost purple.
"Oh ok, hold up." Martyr concentrates a ton of energy into his boots and bursts out fire to let himself float mid-air.
He uses his rocket boots to shoot himself up slowly, using Vanagloria's arm for balance.
Even with all of the weight being released from her lift she still keeps a death grip on him as he uses his iron man type shit to float up to her little air platform.
As Martyr plants down onto the grey cloud, Vanagloria gasps for air, still with a small grip on his forearm, falling to the misty gray floor.
"Wow, Vanagloria, this is really impressive." Martyr says as he looks down at his smoking fire-proof boots, standing on seemingly nothing in the middle of a dark cloud.
He can even see Quetzalcoatl still shaking herself off way below them. The goddess still looks massive even from this height. She looks kinda like a fluffy rainbow worm in the middle of someone's massive backyard.
Everything has a grey tint from his view in the cloud though, like he's looking through a pair of sunglasses. Although It doesn't stop him from taking in the view that he might never see again.
"Holy shit…" Vanagloria says as she wipes sweat and rain off her face with her shirt. Lightning still swirling around her like she's a small storm herself. Even a handful of electricity underneath her in the storm cloud was following her.
"I wonder if this taps into your air powers." Martyr ponders, scratching the little black stumble on his chin with the other hand, pinned down by Vanagloria laying on the cloud.
"There's no way we should be standing on this right now. It has to be you doing this. The only place where you can stand on clouds is heaven, and that's way higher up than where we are now."
"This is… so… ensaneuh…" Vanagloria says as she uses his arm to stand up. Martyr feels a small current of electricity leave his arm as she lets go, finding herself a stable balance.
"Are you okay? That must've not felt good. I weigh like 190."
"Yeah I could feel that... I'm only 127." Vanagloria takes a gasp of breath. "No offense obviously."
Martyr laughs. "It's fine, I think it would be pretty weird if I took offense to that."
"Oh hey you can see Australis from here." Martyr says as he looks up. The colors from the collision of the fire and water regions fill the sky above them. He could make out the beautiful blue of the ocean of Niflheim and the charred black and red brimstone landscape of Muspelhiem.
"Oh wow." Vanagloria says as she looks up towards the sky. "I don't think I've ever seen it this clearly before."
"Have you ever been to Australis?"
"No, I've spent my whole life in Borealis. The only times I got to see this is when me and Blair stayed up late at night on a clear day." Her golden eye was shining through the mist as she looked up at the island.
"We used to just spend hours talking about wanting to be heroes as we looked up at the different regions up there."
"Well you'll get to visit it soon enough."
"I can't wait. That'll be a big moment for me I think. Even bigger than the one happening to me right now." Vanagloria smiled as she remembered the cloud she was standing on.
"There's a lot of big moments happening right now." Martyr said, remembering back on the day they were still having.
"Good. That's how it should be."
After a few more minutes of them appreciating the sky above, realization dawns in Martyr.
"So uh… how do we get down."
Vanagloria looks down at the rainforest that's probably more than a mile away from them right now.
"I don't really know. We seem to have found ourselves in one very big pickle."
Quetzalcoatl was nowhere to be seen and it was probably impossible for them to see Vega from up here.
"Is there anyway you could like, move the cloud over?" Martyr asked, shooting out ideas.
"I have no idea. I can kinda feel the air element in my legs that's holding us up, but I don't really know if I want to mess with it." Vanagloria takes a cautious step forward and back, testing her grounds.
"Hmmm…" Martyr thinks to himself.
"Should we wait for Kets-ah-whatever to come for us?" Vanagloria says.
"Nah I think she would've come for us by now." Martyr says, looking around for any sign of something that could help.
Then a little thing off in the distance catches his eye.
"Hey, are those floating islands?" Martyr points to a small group of mountain looking things very far off in the distance.
"Oh! I know what those are!" Vanagloria says as she gets super excited.
"That's Tír na nÓg! On earth it's known as a mythical floating island in like Ireland or something."
"Ireland?" Martyr said, confused. "That just sounds like you said island in 'yar har' speak."
"I think that's just the way they speak in that country." Vanagloria says. "I wouldn't know though. I've never been to earth. Er… I guess technically I was born on earth."
"I wanna go to earth so bad... We gotta do that sometime." Martyr said, wiping off his damp shirt.
"I'm so down." Vanagloria says as she starts to walk over to 'Tír na nÓg.' "If I die without seeing earth I will be so mad."
"Wait, Vanagloria stop."
"What?" She stops midway through taking a step.
"What about Vega? I feel like we shouldn't just leave her." Martyr catches up to Vanagloria.
"Nah we should leave that stupid bitch behind. Screw her." Vanagloria starts to march forward again. Her blonde mad scientist hair is still in full effect.
"Wait wait wait wait. Slow down. One more thing." Martyr grabs her hand to stop her from going any further.
Vanagloria doesn't respond and just looks down their hands.
"We don't really know how long your powers will last up here." Martyr pulls her back to the spot they were on with little to no resistance from her.
Vanagloria just keeps staring at his hand in hers. Her face starts to turn red once more, unbeknownst to Martyr at this moment.
"For all we know your powers have been on a time limit this wh…"
Martyr isn't able to finish his sentence as the air floor below them fades away and they both fall through,
still holding hands.
