"Cling! Cling! Cling!"
Nik's phone started buzzing as he traveled a few miles. Alerted by the number of notifications, he abruptly halted the car and ran his thumb finger over the screen.
Hurriedly, he tapped on Beau's number. "What's going on? How did Alex know about our goods?"
"Thank God, you called. I don't know! I have tried contacting you, but your mobile wasn't in the network coverage area. So, I alerted your dad."
"Dad!" Niklaus grumbled and pursed his lips. "Fine! What did he say?"
"He was angry with you for not staying until the guns reached. He asked us to prepare a chopper."
Nik narrowed his eyes, "Why Chopper? Is he planning to go and fight? The message tells that they are about 50 members that came in four ships. It's highly risky."
"I have stopped him. Do you have any plan?"
Nik hissed and hit the car's tire. He has been managing the gang and his dad's mafia stuff for three years along with his business, but never got a complaint. "I will go. You are also coming and bring two good bodyguards with you. Don't forget the weapons. The sea is near to me. Let's meet at the port in an hour."
Throwing the phone on the seat beside, he placed his foot on accelerator but wasn't able to press on it. In the next second, he reversed the car and drove fast to his mother's house. He wanted to meet his love before going to the dangerous job. He was sure that he could deal with Alex and his men, but the witch's warning stopped him from hitting to the sea straight.
As he reached the house, he banged open the door and shouted, "Liliya! Liliya!"
Before her, Alice came running to him. "What happened?"
The calming spell cooled him down, but there was fear in a corner of his heart that worried about Liliya. Being his wife has already made her put in danger, then the probability of her being a witch and now, the risky job. He was frightened about what might happen if he was dead.
After a few seconds, Lili came running to that yell. "What happened?"
"An enemy caught the ship that's carrying goods about hundred thousand dollars. I need to go. Please, stay here until I come back." He mumbled, but he himself wasn't sure if he will come back in a single piece.
Lili stared at him with a blank face and brain running questions about his worried look. 'Ship? Is he going into the sea? Is it dangerous?' She has never seen that look on his face. Mr. Cooper, she knew, was a headstrong, rude, selfish and also kind in rare cases. 'Fear' was something she never expected to see.
"Are you okay?" A trembling voice came from Lili, which Nik never expected. He thought Liliya would be happy and excited to know that he wouldn't be with her.
"Of course! I just came to let you and mom know I might be away for a few days." Nik assured with a warm lips and eyes, scanning and storing Lili's worried look in his brain. "Bye!" he ran out.
Lili stared at him and her legs wanted to run after him to his car, while her brain didn't allow her to move. 'Are you an idiot? He never cared about you or your sufferings. Even you don't have to!' her brain warned her.
"Didn't I ask you to be safe? Where are you going again?" the same witch came again and yelled at him.
Alice raced out upon hearing that. Nik too was shocked to see the woman shout at him. The fear that got accumulated in his heart multiplied with the woman's scream. Lili shivered and her pulse sped up to see the way the lady in black said. Behind her mother-in-law, she too ran out and stood with an expressionless face.
"Ms. Neptune! What happened?" Alice inquired the lady, who was glaring at Niklaus for not listening to her advice.
"He is going into the sea and it's not safe for him to go." The lady looked straight into Alice's eyes and predicted.
"Maa! But I have to go."
Alice pursed her lips and gulped, not understanding what she should do in that situation. She is well aware of his son's attitude and how much he cared about his people, just like her husband. But what she didn't understand was how to stop him from going. She looked at Liliya, who stood behind her with a face that seemed unbothered about Neptune's words.
The idea of asking Liliya for help hit the rock. "Nik, Ms. Neptune's predictions are always right. You are newly married. I don't think it is right at this moment. Why don't you send you men?"
"No! I have to go." Nik said, swallowing his worry about Liliya's life if anything happens to him. Just because of one person, he can't afford to lose the four men in the ship and the goods, which would be used against the country if it goes to Alex Valdis' hands. "How is my marriage related to this?" He frowned and rolled his eyes away from Lili.
Lili, who was about to speak out and stop him, pressed her lips and turned away with his reckless comment. She covered her worry with a straight face.
"Neptune, may I know what you actually saw?" Alice asked, trying her best not to offend the witch's predictions.
Neptune pinched her lips, hissed, and spoke out. "His arms were filled with blood and cuts. Blood seemed pouring from the wound on his forehead. His shirt had multiple blood strains." She read out, looking in the air as if something was written in the sky with an invisible ink, only visible to her. As she completed saying, she walked away with a tightened jaw and wrinkled forehead.
Nik glanced at her walk away through the corner of eyes and as she disappeared, he turned towards the two ladies in front. "I am leaving."
